It became a project of sorts for me while I have been on sabbatical. It needed a few adjustments to make it more usable. It had some dings and scratches. Some paint would come in handy. It also seemed like a nice tie to the past, having come from the old building when the current sanctuary was built. So I decided to give it a go. There were some bumps along the way. I put a nail partway through my hand (it’s better now). It took more than one try to get the paint color right (ok...it took three). I found out that lowering the pulpit to work on it is actually a two-person job (my back is now convinced). And I learned that sometimes when you think you are done, there is still one more board that you didn’t paint. In the end, the pulpit still has some dings that I can’t fix, but I think it looks nice up there and I’m excited to use it. As I worked on the pulpit it also became a metaphor of sorts for the work ahead of us as a congregation. As I sawed, drilled, and painted, I also prayed. We need to remember what Jesus has done through this congregation in the past and celebrate it. We also need to make some adjustments here and there to be able to do what he is calling us to do; now and into the future. And the truth is we’ll retain some dings and scratches that will serve as reminders of how much of God’s grace we’ve needed along the way. But I’m also convinced that the Lord has some beautiful things in store for us. I’m convinced that the gifts I see in you can be used by the Lord to make us a place where ...waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert...” (Isaiah 35:6); a place where thirsty and barren hearts can come experience the refreshment of Jesus’ mercy. I believe that for Wendell, and even for the whole Magic Valley. I’m ready to get to work. And I’m really looking forward to doing that work alongside you. Dear LWEPC Family and Friends:

In the last few weeks you may have noticed the pulpit on the platform. It became a project of sorts for

me while I have been on sabbatical. It needed a few adjustments to make it more usable. It had some

dings and scratches. Some paint would come in handy. It also seemed like a nice tie to the past,

having come from the old building when the current sanctuary was built. So I decided to give it a go.

There were some bumps along the way. I put a nail partway through my hand (it’s better now). It took

more than one try to get the paint color right (ok...it took three). I found out that lowering the pulpit to

work on it is actually a two-person job (my back is now convinced). And I learned that sometimes when

you think you are done, there is still one more board that you didn’t paint. In the end, the pulpit still has

some dings that I can’t fix, but I think it looks nice up there and I’m excited to use it.

As I worked on the pulpit it also became a metaphor of sorts for the work ahead of us as a

congregation. As I sawed, drilled, and painted, I also prayed. We need to remember what Jesus has

done through this congregation in the past and celebrate it. We also need to make some adjustments

here and there to be able to do what he is calling us to do; now and into the future. And the truth is we’ll

retain some dings and scratches that will serve as reminders of how much of God’s grace we’ve

needed along the way.

But I’m also convinced that the Lord has some beautiful things in store for us. I’m convinced that the

gifts I see in you can be used by the Lord to make us a place where “...waters break forth in the

wilderness, and streams in the desert...” (Isaiah 35:6); a place where thirsty and barren hearts can

come experience the refreshment of Jesus’ mercy. I believe that for Wendell, and even for the whole

Magic Valley.

I’m ready to get to work. And I’m really looking forward to doing that work alongside you.

We are entering a point of transition in our church dynamics. We will be bidding God’s blessings to Pastor Kevin and Raylene as they enter a new chapter in their life with Kevin’s retirement.

God has already provided for the ongoing life of Living Waters by sending us Pastor Shaun Spencer, who will begin his ministry as our pastor on June 1st.

Kevin’s retirement celebration has been put on hold for the time being of social distancing, but we hope to have a potluck and pool party at McGinnis Park honoring Kevin and Raylene August 2nd. Pencil it in on your calendars.

We will miss Pastor Kevin and Raylene as our pastor but hope they will be comfortable joining us again in worship in the future, after giving Pastor Shaun some time to connect with the Living Waters congregation in worship.

"So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give

you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please

the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as

you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all

His glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He

has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to His people, who live in the light."

Colossians 1: 9-12 (NLT)

Presbytery/General Assembly Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 40th General Assembly has been rescheduled from June to September 17-18 at Hope Church in Memphis. Because of the unique situation, GA will be “business only” this year, convening on Thursday morning and concluding on Friday.

Our theme is Always, based on 2 Corinthians 2:14, “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of Him everywhere.”

May meeting of the Presbytery of the Pacific Northwest was cancelled. The next Presbytery meeting will be October 1-2 in Wenatchee, WA. Pastor Shaun will be examined on the floor of Presbytery at that meeting and then we will be able to officially install him as our pastor.

The godly walk with integrity;

blessed are their children who follow them. Proverbs 20:7 NLT

COVID-19 Protocol for

Living Waters worship time

There will be no Sunday School or KidzTime

until September. There will not be coffee or

meet and greet time until further notice due to

precautions for COVID-19. Please exercise safety

precautions to avoid the further spread of this

virus.

• Please refrain from hugging, handshaking,

and other physical contact

• Rows of chairs have been moved farther

apart. Please self-direct the spacing

between household units to allow six feet

distance (at least two empty chairs)

between families within a row.

• Please wash hands or use hand sanitizer

prior to or just after entering the building.

Wall hand sanitizer dispensers are located

near each of the entrances to the sanctuary.

• Cover coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or

elbow, not hands)

• Use of facemasks is encouraged.

• An offering plate and envelopes are placed

at the back of the sanctuary to receive your

offering as you enter, or as you leave the

sanctuary.

• During sharing of Blessings and Concerns,

the worship leader will bring to microphone

to you and hold it as you share. If you are

able to step to the aisle to share, this will

help.

• Parents are encouraged to keep children

sitting with their own family (and supervise

before and after services) including going to

the restroom. Drinking fountains have been

turned off.

• The nursery is closed, and children are not

to be allowed to play with the toys from the

nursery.

• Exit the sanctuary and building in an orderly

manner while allowing space for social

distancing.

• Sermons are being streamed through

YouTube. If you are unable or

uncomfortable attending worship, you may

go to the announcement section of

www.LivingWatersEPC.org web page to find

the YouTube link to the sermon.

We look forward to the time when we can worship together again… “But the time is

coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father

in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.”
