  • The art of porcelain

  • Lladró: The Story of a DreamThe story of Lladró is the dream-come-true of three brothers Juan, José and Vicente Lladró with a passion for porcelain. In 1953 they fired their first creations in a Moorish kiln they built in the courtyard of the house where they were born, in Almàssera, a small town on the outskirts of Valencia in the midst of fertile orchards.

Today, all Lladró creations are produced at the City of Porcelain, very close to that first workshop. The brand has approximately 1,000 employees, several associated companies abroad and a select network of its own boutiques located in some of the world’s major cities, including New York, Beverly Hills, Moscow, Tokyo, London, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Delhi, Mumbai, Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. In addition Lladró also has approximately 2,000 points of sale in over 120 countries all over the world.

Managed by Juan Lladró and his daughtrers Rosa and Ángeles, Lladró has never lost sight of its origins in spite of its international reach. It is a global company, but it is also a creative workshop that is able to define its own aesthetic universe and ensure a level of quality endorsed by the prestige of its creations.

With a longstanding tradition and solid reputation in international art porcelain, since its beginnings Lladró has always explored contemporary styles while remaining faithful to its roots at the same time.

  • When Ideas Take ShapeAll Lladró pieces are handmade in the brand’s headquarters in Valencia, following an entirely handcrafted process that has never stopped innovating both in its decorative techniques and in the style of pieces.

This excellence in the creative processes would not be possible without an incredible team of accomplished artists, who contribute their expertise and know-how to achieve the desired technical and artistic quality. From the initial sketches to the firing in the kiln at high temperatures, each step in the process is made by expert sculptors, ornamentation artists, painters and other artisans who work very closely with the Lladró family. The result are pieces in harmony with the sensibility of men and women from all over the world.

Quality is another major feature in the company’s culture, whose commitment is to ensure the owner of a Lladró work that the piece has been carefully elaborated down to the tiniest detail. And to enjoy the piece for many years, Lladró has created the Lladró Assurance ProgramTM which gives the owner of one of our creations totally free assurance against breakage.

Lladró porcelains are the result of a meticulous process of creation which is particularly striking for its handcrafted elaboration, its quality and its pursuit of excellence.

The Utmost Expression of Lladró WorksHigh Porcelain is the concept that sums up the maximum expression of Lladró work. A category consisting exclusively of pieces exemplifying, with the maximum level of excellence, all the values of expressiveness, beauty and technical perfection the Lladró family has always instilled into its creations.

High Porcelain pieces are handmade in a special workshop at the City of Porcelain by the finest artisans. High Porcelain pieces are handmade creations of great artistic and technical complexity. Each of these creations strives to take the expressive possibilities of porcelain to its limits, through the use of ideal techniques and processes. Art without BoundariesLladró porcelain is an expression of universal values. In addition, this creativity, which revolves around shared emotions, enriches both parties, the brand and lovers of the brand. Indeed, one of Lladro’s values is its capacity to address the traditions and spirituality of the most disparate cultures with great sensitivity. Every sculpture has been conceived from a sense of profound admiration for the traditions that are both rewarding and a challenge for its artists.

  • Lladró PorcelainThe most instantly recognizable Lladró creations are classical, stylized glazed porcelain pieces decorated with soft colors. Lladró has garnered international prestige thanks to its elegance and exquisite attention to detail, particularly in the faces of its creations.

One of the most outstanding features of Lladró works are its flowers, handcrafted one by one, petal by petal, following a process which bestows the flowers with their own unmistakable style.

  • New Aesthetic Paths

Lladró has never stopped exploring new forms, and the result of this evolution is creations in new styles and finishes which sit easily alongside the classics. A good example is Lladró keynote creations: sculptures of more synthesized lines which are endowed with a heightened symbolism, where the use of matte porcelain painted in white or of black gres underscores the strength of the modeling.

Another example are the pieces from Re-Deco. This collection has come up with a hitherto unseen vision of the brand’s classic pieces thanks to a new focus on the decoration. Particularly worth underscoring are figurines redecorated with platinum or golden lusters which are applied following an entirely handcrafted process. The combination of matte and glazed finishes both for porcelain and luster adds original textures that fit in to perfection with contemporary interiors.

Lladró GresGres is a warm and vigorous ceramic material, which recreates the colors and textures of the earth, giving the sculptures a highly natural look. Enamels used for decorating the sculptures never crystallize identically in the kiln and, as a consequence, produce infinite, unpredictable chromatic variations that make each piece different from the next.
