Some facts ...The School of Law at the University of Sheffield has been teaching law students since 1899. We have a history of excellence in both teaching and research. We’re based in Bartolomé House, which looks just as a top law school should, with arches, gargoyles and other decorative features from the 1800s. Once inside, however, you’ll find full modern facilities including wire free internet connectivity, well equipped seminar rooms, student internet common rooms, a café and our own courtroom.

Law in its Spanish legal context has been taught here for around 30 years and is now entitled LLB (Hons) Law (with Spanish Law) – UCAS code M1M4. This four year law programme provides a qualifying Law degree which you can use as a basis for a law career in England and Wales. You study all the foundational law subjects to fulfill professional requirements and your degree will equip you with a detailed understanding of Spanish law and its legal systems. Our graduates consistently do well in achieving good graduate jobs with this course as their first qualification – they can offer a qualifying law degree, plus a breadth of experience of living and studying abroad, as well as Spanish language skills.

During your first year and alongside your English law subjects, you also study Spanish Legal Terminology , which helps to strengthen your Spanish language ability. You’ll also be introduced to comparative law, in order gain an understanding of non-English legal systems. In your second year we help you gain a more advanced understanding of substantive Spanish law and the legal and political culture in which it exists. We do this by providing two different modules taught by our Spanish Law Lecturer in Spanish. In this way, you are thoroughly prepared for your year abroad studying under the Erasmus-LLP programme at one of our partner universities in Spain. During your time in Spain, you study the main aspects of public and private law and optional modules according to your interests.

Current destinations for your year abroad are in excellent university law schools based in:

• Barcelona • Granada • Oviedo • Salamanca • Valencia or • Seville

Your final year concludes your study with options from a very wide range of choices.

Studying a four year programme may not be as expensive as you think – our current arrangement for UK/EU students is not to charge the full fees for the year abroad. Our current students also qualify for an Erasmus study grant to help with travel and living expenses during the year abroad.

A Level grades required - AAB, any one of which to be A Level Spanish. Attaining at least B grades at AS level? Go on - apply.
