RFL EDITORIAL

It was a contrasting round of matches a fortnight ago with two close matches and two blow outs. The match of the round certainly was that and the GGGM Lions triumphed in the battle of the big cats with a hard fought 14 point win over Wagga ngers. Coolamon continued their good start to the season with a come from behind win by 16 points over a courageous young Turvey Park side. The MCU-E Goannas were far too good for the Eastern Hawks and they had a comfortable 49 point victory It was all one war. traffic at Narrandera with the Eagles thumping the Leeton-Whitton Crows by 147 points.

Gumly Oval is the venue for the clash between the big birds - the Eastern Hawks and the Narrandera Eagles. The Eagles thoroughly deserve their top of the ladder status as they go into the last game of the first round of home and away matches undefeated. They have played consistent footy all year which in turn generates confidence and team morale. Stuart Hutchins, Dale Hugo, Danny Campbell and Liam Richmond continue to stand out in an even side. The Hawks season is at the crossroads and whilst they can still definitely figure in this years finals that is surely dependant on them winning games. They were very ordinary against Mango and they must improve drastically on that effort if they are to even trouble the Eagles. The week off might be the tonic needed to freshen them up. Ashley Condon, Jay Peace, Andrew White and Glenn Cole were the pick last match. The Eagles will be too strong for the struggling Hawks and tum the halfNay mark with their record intact.

The GGGM Lions return to Ganmain Sportsground this week for their clash with the confident young MCU-E Goannas. The Lions made a huge statement against the Tigers last match and they will be out to reinforce their intentions today. They have a very well balanced side with all the important ingredients - youth, skill, experience and most importantly, belief in each other. Their defence is tight, the midfield the most dangerous in the competition and they have a very potent forward line. Mitch Steele, Luke Walsh, Nathan McPherson and Daniel Rankin have been in great form. The young Goannas confidence has been growing week by week and they will approach this game with plenty of optimism. Dean Howard was obviously very happy with their win over the Hawks and if he can maintain his own form he will provide the Lions defence with a few headaches. It is a daunting task to win at Ganmain but I'm sure they will give it a red hot go. Brad Turner, Chris Higgins, Graeme Reid and Adam Howard have been very good of late. The Lions at home

will have too many options for the young Goannas to halt and will run out winners by 30 odd points.

Kindra Park, Coolamon, should be packed with loyal supporters with the Grasshoppers at home to the Wagga Tigers. These two sides have had some enthralling battles in the past and I'm sure that this will again be the case here. Coolamon would be happy with their progress so far this year and a win here would give them plenty of impetus for the upcoming rounds. They are not a team of stars but play as a team. The performances of Connor Neyland, Luke Maloney, Brendan McKelvie and Nathan Edyvean will have a bearing on the result. The only two losses the Tigers have had this year have been at home to the two sides above them on the ladder. They are a youngsters in their lineup are confident players and the experience will come to them in time. If Corey Pavitt returns to play it will be a big boost for them up forward. Stephen and Andrew Priest, Mick Delaney and Matt Noonan have been very consistent all year. I think the Grasshoppers are in with a show but overall the Tigers should have to much class and after four hard fought quarters will run out winners.

Their will be joy for one side at Leeton Showground today where we have the Crows up against the visiting Griffith Swans. There has been little for either side to be overly pleased with so far this year so the four points on offer will be vital to both clubs. The Crows form has been patchy and inconsistent which must be frustrating for the coaching staff. They have played very well one week against top sides and the next are very ordinary against a lower team. They have not defeated a side this year and Damian Lang would love to come out on top in this one. Nick Patten, Bradley Boots, Jamie Broadbent and Daniel Sullivan have been playing well. If the Swans are to keep in touch with the top sides they must win this match. Their last win was more than a month ago and if four points does not come along here their confidence will take a big nose dive. They are playing well below what we had expected of them and Luke Mclean would have to be a little concerned with their season so far. They are coming of the bye and the general bye so they may well be freshened for this encounter. James Toscan, Jeff Mickan, Matt McDonald and Zac Lewis will be giving 100%. A toss of the coin, maybe the Crows at home by a whisker.

It's the halfNay point of the season today and from here on in it's all downhill. I hope all players and supporters have a great weekend of footy. Thought of the Week: My mother's menu consisted of two choices, take it or leave it.

EASTERN HANKS

Proudly Sponsored by Rose & Breust Real Estate What a dark and gloomy day for the Club with a trip to

Mango full of high expectations ending in a total disaster for the Club. Both games of Football failed to produce the results that we know are truly possible with a little more application of the skills that we all know exist in both sides. Well done to the Goannas for applying themselves to the task all day and reaping the rewards that they truly deserved.

The Ressies took to the field with an undermanned side but still with sufficient talent across the field to provide a tough contest all day. Alas it was not to be with Mango pressuring us all day and running out worthy winners in the end. On a day where good players were hard to find the Award winners were: Julian Amos - Elder Breust Real Estate Mug, Simon Wallis - Hunters Newsagency Club Towel and Ben McFarlane - Mobil Subway Voucher.

With all the hype generated through the media with the return of our Coach to Mango for the first time and the competition for the Greg Leach Trophy expectations were high for both sides. With an even first half of Footy the second loomed as an enthralling battle. This was not to be with Mango kicking 9 Goals to our 1 in the 3" quarter blowing the game apart and setting up a deficit that we were always going to struggle to rein in. Credit to our boys for not throwing the towel in and to Mango for the lesson they dished out to us. Award winners were: Craig DePiazza - Elders Breust Real Estate Mug, Ashley Condon - Hunters Newsagency Club Towel, Brenton Roberts - Mobil Subway Voucher and Jay Peace - Coolabah Tree Cafe Voucher.

With the chance of achieving their first win for the season against another winless side the Netballers set about the task of achieving just that. However the Mango girls also wanted to break the ice and proved too good on the day. Award winners were: A Grade, Rebecca Anderson - Elders Breust Real Estate Mug, Laura Suckling - Encouragement and B Grade, Bronwen Schumack - Elders Breust Real Estate Mug and Jade Merlehan - Encouragement.

Today we welcome the all conquering Eagles to Gumly for what should be the ultimate test for us. It goes without saying we desperately need a win in all grades so the challenge is there. So go to it and give our long suffering supporters something to celebrate in the Clubrooms tonight. Today's Game Day Sponsor is Pentak Windows & Doors Ply Ltd and we welcome them to Gumly today. MANGOPLAH-COOKARDINIA UNITED EASTLAKES GOANNAS

A fortnight ago we welcomed Eastern Hawks out to Mango for our long awaited tussle. Our Ressies got the day away to a good start despite a sluggish first quarter. A big 9 goal third quarter sealed the deal for the boys with Peter Treloar booting five majors in a best on ground performance. Also playing a top game was Mango legend Daniel Roberts, Zeke Creasy, Curtis Richens, Josh Gillies and Casey Goode.

In the main game the boys were determined to win, and did so in style, belting the Hawks by 8 goals in front of a massive Mango crowd. Dean Howard was unstoppable in the forward line bagging 11 goals, with fellow skipper Chris Higgins also in fine form. Young gun Brad Turner had a blinder in the back line, while Adam Howard, Sam Balding and Graeme Reid rounded out the best.

Over at the courts the girls had their best day of the season winning two from two. B Grade played well to win by 19 goals. Best on court was Jess Short with the encouragement award going to Alicia Richardson. In A Grade the girls had a full team for the first time all season and made the most of ii sealing their first win for 2007. Sheryl Wheeler played her best game of the year taking out the Mug, whilst Ashlee Turner and Lisa Frow were in fine form in goals.

Good luck to all teams playing today and we hope to see you all back at the Boat Club for awards and drinks at 6.30pm.

So until Xave flies to Sydney for a 'business meeting', toe-ball takes the mug to the panel beaters and Reidy buries a few more opponents into the Mangoplah turf, it's up the Giddy Goannas!!

RIVERINA UMPIRES ASSOCIATION REPORT

Congratulations to Greg Walsh who officiated at his 100th game for the RUA two weekends ago. Thank you for your commitment to our association over the years and particularly this year for your involvement with 1he Selection Committee. Other members who have achieved milestones this year and deserve recognition are: Keith Menzies and Brian Robinson 150 games, Peter Ross 200 games, Brett McDonald and Ed Scully 50 games. To you all, very well done. You have all been an integral part of the RUA.

Congratulations to the representatives of the RFL sides who combined together and won the match against the FFL players last weekend. The Representative Games were all of a high standard, as was the umpiring - many thanks to those within our Association who made themselves available for these games.

Even though the cold weather is now with us, theres no excuse for missing training -you'll soon warm up when Craig starts telling you how hard to work yourselves !!

NSW / AFL

AFL NSW/ACT's Talented Player Program featuring U13's and U14 teams from MIA/Northern Riverina, Albury, Wagga and Western Riverina Regions competed in games during the Long weekend in Wagga at Robertson Oval and in Albury at the Lavington Sports ground.

From the weekend's games, Stingray's and Rebels squads were selected to participate in a live-in camp to be conducted at a venue to be confirmed during the October school holidays.

The live-in camp looks likely to be held in the Riverina region and will feature the six zones from across NSW/ACT. Participants from these age groups have the opportunity to continue in the Talented Player Program in future years at U15's, U16's and then at U18 level.

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Once again this year we are running the popular feature Blast from the Past. We will endeavour to cover as vast a cross section as possible across the Riverina and we trust that you find it interesting reading. This week we cover the career of a player who gave the MCU Football Club tremendous service over a long period of time and was one of the most damaging forwards in the Farrer League in the 80's. Today we pay tribute to Stephen Cole.

Name: Stephen Cole

Details of Playing/ Coaching Career: 1970 - The Rock U 10's. 1971 - 73 Turvey Park U10112, Premiers 71,72,73. 1974 - 76 Marian Dons U14's. 1977 - 1992 MCU Football Club - U16's, Reserve Grade and First Grade. Premiers in 1st Grade - 1985, 88, 89, 90. 1984 - 86 Eastlakes / MCU U14's Coach with Colin Roberson - Premiers 1986. 1987 - 91 MCU U18's Coach with Colin Roberson - Premiers 1989, 90, 91. 1993 - 94 Henly Football Club 1st Grade senior playing coach. 1999 Modewarre FC U18's coach. Represented RDFL 1982-84. Represented Farrer Football League 1985 -1991, captained the side in 1989 and 1990. Played for NSW 1985 and 1986. Played around 300 senior games (give or take 20) and kicked around 1,000 goals (give or take 20).

Awards/ Medals Received: 1973 - Best & Fairest Turvey Park Magpies U10112 Won Best & Fairest at MCU 1973, 1982, 1986, 1987. Won RDFL Leading Goal Kicker in 1982 kicking 144 goals. Was an Inaugural Inductee into the MCU Hall of Fame.

Favourite Playing Position: Throughout my footy career I had the pleasure of playing in most positions except ruck. I would have liked to have played more footy on the ball as that was where my real footy strengths lied (in my opinion). I was very much a reluctant key forv, ard player, but it's a team game and you have to play where the coach puts you.

Most Respected Opponents: I always struggled against Ronny Gillingham from the Gullie and Gerald Pieper (who coached me at the Dons) was a player that I thought had terrific skills and I was in awe of some of the things he could do and get away with.

Best Player Seen: The best player I played with or against would have to be John Gannon when he played at Temora. He was the most courageous player I have seen, a real game turner and very much led by example.

AFL Club I Follow: Essendon

Current Occupation: Self employed IT Consultant

Where do you see local AFL heading in the future: Regrettably, I think it's going to be a bit sad for small towns that have footy clubs. The changing rural demographics, player loyalty, cost of travel and money (the lack of) will conspire together against smaller clubs to ensure that they will not be able to compete with the richer clubs from larger towns for players ( including the ones that they have taught football to in the first place). Ultimately this will mean clubs will fold or merge with other clubs to stay viable. This is not good for football and it is an Australian wide issue. I am not sure that anything can be done to stop this from happening, but maybe the administrators of the game could cap all player payments to stop clubs from poaching each others players. Maybe the clubs will concentrate on junior footballers and their education to get talented footballers. This would be good for football, good for the smaller clubs and good for the kids and make the richer clubs develop their own talent.

Stephen Cole was a player with exceptional talent and he used that talent in the best possible way. He was probably the premier forward in the Farrer League during his playing time and always attracted the oppositions best defender. He played with plenty of flair and confidence and he was a tremendous kick for goal. Stephen was a strong advocate for representative football and he was rewarded with the captaincy for a couple of years. He attracted plenty of attention from opposition players but he was very rarely beaten and most times would be to the fore in another Mango victory. The late Greg Leech had a very high opinion of Stephen and he said on numerous occasions that he was one of the most skillful and gifted players that he coached. Stephen now lives down near Geelong and doesn't get back to Wagga to often. But if you are talking to him or see him let him know that you enjoyed his Blast from the Past.

UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT

Once again this year we will be featuring the section Under the Spotlight. Each week we will be asking a well-known identity within the boundaries of the Southern NSW AFL to comment on several issues relating to football and other social issues. It is intended to be both serious and light hearted and I hope that all readers find it both interesting and amusing. This week under the spot we place well known RFL identity and fonmer Coolamon President, Gary Armstrong

Who do you follow in the AFL Collingwood ... Because my wife said.

What are your thought's on the drug testing procedures currently conducted in the AFL ie: not naming the players who have tested positive. Penalties should be tougher and players should be named because they are role models for our sport and are always keen to put their hands out for money and need to be made responsible for their actions.

We have another new rule with the hand in the back. Do you think it is totally fair and does it deserve the criticism it has received from players and coaches. It's a rule that has been in place forever and is finally being enforced which is a good thing but consistency in the umpiring is the key to its success.

The AFL NAB Challenge match at Narrandera this year between the Sydney Swans and Collingwood was a tremendous success. Should the AFL consider holding it on an annual basis and at Narrandera. This was a huge success and an annual game would be great but they need teams that will draw a huge crowd. It should always be held at Narrandera as it is the premier sports ground in the Riverina and central to everyone.

What are your thoughts on the proposed State League that the NSW AFL want to have up and running in NSW by 2010. NSW/AFL needs to get the RFL and Farrer in order to keep young players interested before worrying about any State League. With U18's failing in the RFL both leagues need to embrace an U17's incorporating 15's, 16"s and 17's year age brackets. This would then help with the transition from juniors to seniors and help eliminate forfeits in this age group.

AROUND THE TRAPS

REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURE WRAP UP It was a very interesting day of footy at Maher Oval with

the representative fixtures played between Riverina League, Farrer League, Northern Riverina League and the Coreen League. The day kicked off with the Under 1 Ts match between the Coreen League and the Northern Riverina League. The NRL boys had the game under control for most of the day but the Coreen boys came home with a late burst with the wind in the last quarter. If the quarter went a bit longer it may have been interesting but the Northern Riverina boy hung on for a well deserved 19 point win.

The Northern Riverina seniors then lined up against the Coreen seniors for what promised to be a close tussle. The NRL dominated in the first half and lead by 13 points at half time. The second half was the exact opposite with the Coreen boys kicking 1 O goals to the NRL 2 solitary goals and the Coreen boys ran out decisive 38 point winners.

The anticipated clash between the RFL Under 23's and the Farrer Under 24's was the last match for the day. This format was decided upon to try and instill some much needed interest into our representative program. There was a strong, icy breeze blowing the Rules Club end and it made it extremely difficult for the side kicking to the southern end. The third quarter proved the winning one for the RFL boys as they kicked 5-3 and held the Farrer boys scoreless. Both sides were able to score 4 majors in the last quarter but the RFL side had enough up their sleeve and they ran out winners to the tune of 13-11=89 to the Farrer boys 7-10=52.

Best players for RFL: Connor Neyland, Luke Walsh, Tim Sullivan, Bryan Munro, Sam Balding and Nie Hetherington.

Best players for FFL: Brad Langtry, Justin Driscoll, Nathan Fuller, Tim Willis, Clint Taylor, Josh Hagar.

The four participating Leagues were in agreeance that the day was a success and that there still is a place for representative football. Special mention must go to Shane Buchanan and Bob Hughes for their organisation of the day.

200 GAMES FOR NARRANDERA STALWART A fortnight ago Narrandera evergreen, Chris Smith, ran

out for his 200~ first grade game with the Narrandera Club. Chris is a quiet achiever who never seems to give to much away. He started his football career in the Narrandera Under 15's as it was known back then and he won the Best & Fairest in the 15's that year. He was selected to play representative football in the juniors. He then progressed over the years into the Under 18's where he also won a Best & Fairest for the Club. He then made his way into the First Grade where he has played ever since, except for the odd game of footy in the reserve grade after coming back from an injury. He has represented the Narrandera Club in inter league matches on numerous occasions. He has also won three Best & Fairest Awards with the Eagles and was awarded his Life Membership three years ago. Well done Chris and I think that there are still plenty of legs left in you.

FFL EDITORIAL

We had a great round of footy a fortnight ago and we had wholesale changes to the ladder after the results of Round 7. The Northern Jets got out of jail against a very gallant Temora side and two goals in the last minute gave them a 10 point victory and top spot on the ladder. The CAK Demons bought the Marrar Bombers nun to a halt with a hard fought 8 point win and they are now in second spot on the ladder. The TRYC Magpies returned to the winners list with a decisive victory over the Bushpigs in a game that they had to win to keep in touch with the top four.

Langtry Oval is the venue for the all important match between the home side, the Marrar Bombers, and the TRYC Magpies. The Bombers were bought back to earth in their last game but despite being beaten they were still very competitive. They should have learnt from that defeat and they will be eager to get back onto the paddock and take on the Magpies for the second time this year. They have not been beaten at home this year and they will be keen to maintain that record. Evergreen, Gavin Graetz, has been in good form as has been Ben Langtry, Clint Taylor and Brad Langtry. For the Magpies this is a game that could well go towards deciding their season. They have been playing well below their potential this year but, from all reports, they did show some encouraging signs in their last game. If they can improve on that effort they are a chance of causing an upset here. Michael Mazzocchi continues to be a tower of strength for them and he along with Justin Driscoll, Ash Dikkenberg and David Pieper will be key players for the Magpies if they are to upset the Bombers. This will be closer than most would pick and if the Bombers under estimate the Magpies they could well pay for it. This will be a close one but I think at home the Bombers might hold on.

The Temora Kangaroos are at home the CAK Demons in another very important match. The Kangaroos would have been devastated with last week's loss and it would have been a bitter pill to swallow. Still I'm sure that they can take plenty of positives from that loss and they will run out with plenty of confidence today. They were decisively

beaten by the Demons in the previous round but I'm sure they will go into this match knowing that they have the players to cause the upset. Luke Breust was a welcome return for them and Josh Hagar, Matt Mahon and Kody Kelman were also very good. The Demons still have plenty of injury concerns but they continue to perform very well. The young players that they have bought up have done everything asked of them and the club is in an envious position at present. They have three big weeks ahead of them and I know that Brad Aiken will have them motivated for these matches. Randy Munzel is having a great year as is Josh McKenzie, Matt McClure and Matt Lewington. Temora are quite capable of causing the upset and if they get a good start ii is on the cards. Having said that I think that the Gullie will win a close one.

The last game is at Peter Hastie Oval where the home side, the Rivcoll Bushpigs, are at home to the Northern Jets. The Jets had a cliff hanger last round coming from behind to score a narrow win in the last minute of the ~ame. Still it takes special qualities for a side to do things like that and the Jets are a side that has those qualities. They have the skill and experience to do the unexpected but it is not something that they would be required to do on a regular basis. They have some key players to return and they will strengthen them even further. Rob Harper is having a great season along with Andrew Bonny, Nat Hercfen and Anthony Breust. The Bushpigs are competitive for parts of every game but they stnuggle to maintain that for four quarters. They are a much better outfit on their home ground and in a match like this they have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. Josh Schirmer, Cameron Sly, Mitchell Troll and Jeff Angel will be out to stifle the Jets. Despite their efforts the Jets will be too strong and will maintain top spot on the ladder.

Today marks the half way point in the home and away round matches of this years competition already. I hope 11 is enjoyed by both players and supporters alike.

Whilst there was a general Bye over the long weekend we still had some of our boys playing in the Representative match against the RFL. From what I heard from people that went to the match, they reckoned the Marrar blokes played extremely well with special mentions to 'Weapon' aid Tails' appearing in the match report. Any player getting the call to play for their League should treat this as an honour as they are being recognised for the hard work, training and skills they have attained playing this great Aussie game.

We had a mixed bag against Collingullie the week before last with the Two's showing they are responding to Flano's 'free flowing' coaching strategy recording a win against the top placed Collingullie outfit. The One's were gallant in defeat and did not give up until the final siren, just falling short by eight points to a tenacious Collingullie side.

Awards in the Two's went to the 'Ox' who won the Mug and keeps reminding selectors that he is in great form 'Bullhead' just continues to improve every weekend and was very deserving in taking out the Players player award. 'Disco' shimmied his way around the paddock to take out the NAB sports bag and 'Snydes' once again proved a tower of strength taking out the six-pack that was kindly donated by KW & T Transport Henly.

It was a hard day at the office for the Firsts with some injuries starting to occur. 'Billy' just keeps setting the bar with another high standard game and took out the Mug. 'Sucko' had a top game that was recognised by his mates to take out the Players player award. The young middle aged 'Graetzy' knocked off the $50 award whilst the ever-reliable 'Bangers' spent up big with his $30 award. For another fine "team player" styled performance Chase McIntosh caught the $20 award.

I know I'll probably get 'smacked' by the Girls if I don't get this right but I'm not sure of who won the actual games of netball. Always being the belting man I know that C grade won on a forfeit and I'm going to take the punt that A grade didn't win but the B grade and Baby Bombers did win. I reckon I'll find out if I am right or wrong when today's report is read. I DO know who won the awards and in the A grade Maddy took out the Mug and Sheridan won the B grade award. Tara Taylor was named as the best player in the Baby Bombers game.

The Trivia night held at the Sporties was a great success even though the superior team (Burkeds) did not win after running out of puff in the final quarter. A Special thanks to everyone that made the effort to tum up on the night.

Here we go again, another tough day, another tough team in The Rock Yerong Creek. The Rock has had their backs against the wall this season with injuries keeping some of their more experienced players on the sideline. Sounds similar to Collingullie a couple of weeks ago and we know what happened then. I reckon we need to take some inspiration from the likes of 'Mulky', 'Barnsey' and 'Billy' who probably shouldn't have played against Gullie because they were carrying injuries, but they did. Why? Because they love their football, they have respect for their team and they believe Marrar has a great chance of going all the way in 2007. Let's not let them down. As usual, enjoy your footy, look after your mates and make it your best game of the season. GO THE MIGHTY BOMBERS!!!!!!

Heartbreaking. I think that's the best way to describe the loss against the Jets a fortnight ago. On the other hand we played some really good footy and the seconds bounced back to record a good win.

The first grade game was an exciting game from start to finish with some extremely entertaining football being played in front of a large vocal crowd. Our boys threw all we had at the compebtion leaders and bettered them for the m~rity of the game. We just couldn't quite drive in the final nail and the final 2 minutes saw us finish second in "the one that got away". Full credit to our boys, they played an exciting brand of free flowing football which is exciting from the spectators perspective. We just need to keep up our work rate and finish those games on the other side of the ledger. The passionate and hardworking Ian Oliver was awarded the mug for his now trademark tagging role. Mark Breust put in his best performance of the year to win the $30 while his little brother Luke was an excitement machine, continually bamboozling his opponents and stamping his class on the game. He received the $20. Joey Jo Jo Holden had another great game with his pace and attack on the ball a feature. He was awarded the $10.

The seconds enjoyed a rare win over the Jets and with this have restarted their season. All they need to do is work on their consistency and they can really stamp themselves on the competition. Benny Dehlsen showed his ability, winning possessions all over the ground and continually hitting his targets, he also won the mug for his troubles. Granty looks like he's been working overtime at the gym and it is truly paying dividends this season as he has become somewhat of a ball magnet. He took home the $30. Once again the wild boy from Dumbleyoung played his heart out to win the $20 and big Kotz dominated the rucking duels to take the $10.

In the netball Juniors Blue went down 10-18 with Hannah Mahon best while Temora White also came second with Ashleigh King best in their 13-25 defeat. The C-Grade was a close game however we weren't quite able to take the chocolates going down 22-25. Codie Harrop was the standout. The B-Grade are having a stellar season and this continued with a commanding 47-31 trouncing of the Jets. Carly Miller was best on court. The A-Grade battled hard all day but weren't quite able to get the points going down 31-49. Georgia Mathews was in everything to be named as our best.

Today we return to Nixon Park after a week off and host the Demons. We let ourselves down last round against them but today is our opportunity lo make amends. Lets show all our supporters we are the real deal and notch up another win.

GO ROOS.

Well round eight is upon us already. With A grade in the netball doing exceptionally well the last few weeks and our 1• grade footballers starting to hit their straps, they should be even fresher here today after last weeks break. Two weeks ago against Marrar first grade had a great win, winning by 8 points. The Mug went to Josh McKenzie, the $80 Waring Endeavor award went to Matt Lewington, Matt McClure play a major role in the forward line and won the $60 DSTR award and Nathan 'Hugg:es' Fuller won the $40 Blake & Co. award. Another consistent player for the day was young Ryan Blundell winning the $20 CAK Club award. Well-oone boys a good luck for today.

Second grade against Marrar went down 90 to 68. With a few contributing factors relating to the loss the boys tried hard on the day. The Mug went to Sean McGrath who was strong in defense all day, Troy Pitt won the South Wagga Butchery award, Sev took home the Howard's Storage World award, Jarrod Slattery won the Coolabah Tree Cafe award, and Craig Pickering who we are glad to see return won the CAK Club award. Another highlight for the second grade was the effort that Kye Grentell put in whilst playing in the ruck for most of the game.

A big congratulations to the girls two weeks ago, le1s hope they can get away with another great victory today. The A grade awards were: Mug: Lorinda Brown - Waring Family: Robyn Cox - Best players: Miss Colvin.

Unfortunately the B grade girls had a loss to Marrar but good spirited and put sterting effort in all game. The awards were: Mug: Amy Cornwall - Best players Katrina Carey, Amy Cornwall, and Jeena Constance.

Our Junior Girls also went down but not from another top effort, the were as follows: Best players: Alison Rudd, Maddison Absolum, a,d Jaymi Slyton.

Finally thank-you to everyone who supported the Mouse Races it was great night and the fantastic fundraiser for the Footballers Social Club. A fortnight ago we travelled to The Rock and came away with a mixed bag in the football and netball with 2 wins and 3 losses, with some very close results.

Reserves was probably one of the best games of the year so far with the lead being no more then 2 goals to either side all day. The last quarter was set to be a titanic battle and with only a point in it and 5 minutes to go, an exciting finish was on the cards. A goal to Elliott Thomas put the boys in front by 5 before a goal to TRYC put them back in front by 1. With only minutes remaining the boys had it in our 50 before Tommy Loughnan was rewarded with a kick for a tackle. From outside 50 he went back and slotted the goal before the siren went. It was a fantastic game all round and both sides should be congratulated for a top effort. Elliott was rewarded with the mug for his efforts all day, especially in the last quarter. Matty "Gunna· Petersen and Mark "Pebbles· Irons worked hard in the midfield all day, Tommy Loughnan and Dave Jarrott were the focal points up forward and Andy Regan provided plenty of run from the backline.

Seniors made a slow start in the first but applied themselves much better in the second. In the third quarter TRYC showed their class with 9 goals and put the result beyond doubt. The boys never gave up and there were some positives to take out of the game. Tim Willis was a workhorse in the ruck all day and received the mug for his efforts. Cam Sly, Sam Chatfield & Josh Schirmer worked hard all day in the backline while Jeff Angel put another top effort on the ball and Mitchell Trott had a good game at full forward with 3 goals.

This week saw some mixed results in the netball for the Bushsows, beginning with a sterling effort by C grade who unfortunately couldn't come away with a win, but had some impressive on court plays with 3 and 2 votes going to Haylee Hood and Kate Johnson respectively for an outstanding effort in the goal ring. 1 vote went to Mel, our new recruit who had a great effort in defence. B grade had another win to maintain their unbeaten streak, with an all round effort by the team. 3 votes went to Emily Morey, 2 votes to Dayna Mapletsone and 1 vote to Hayley Kellahan. A grade had a competitive match but weren't able to be capitalise on their 3-quarter time lead, going down by a mere 3 goals. 3 votes went to Kelly Plozza, with Karlee McDougall gaining 2 votes for her mid-court efforts, and 1 to Sally Clarke who put in a gutsy effort in defence.

Membership is also due and can be paid to Big Al or the cashier at Student Admin. If you have any problems please see Big Al or Rocket.

This week we welcome the Northern Jets to Bushpig Park, were we will be keen to use the open spaces to play some good footy. Seniors will need a better start if we are challenge the opposition and Reserves will need to be on their game all day if they are to get a win. The Bushsows will have some big
