We emailed members at the end of July

advising that we had received four reports

of a locker being left unlocked in recent

weeks.

This is a polite reminder to everyone that if

you are the last person to leave the site,

please ... please, check that everything

is locked. Not just lockers that you may

have opened, but all lockers on the site.

Club Security

Help our new members “learn

the ropes”.

Those of you helping at the WOCC

on 23rd & 24th July may have been

too busy to notice a man on his

hands and knees fitting new dock

fenders onto the small pontoon.

But thanks to Richard Jones, boats

using either pontoon are now

suitably protected.

We have had a spurt of new memberships, some of which are as a direct result of Open Day and taster sessions. There may be a couple more in the pipeline as well! If you meet any of these new members, please help to make them welcome as they "learn the ropes". They are:

David Pryce (Full Member) sailing a Seabird Cruiser

Vincent Stenhouse (Full Member)

Kevin Ringer (Full Member).

John Goulding (Full Member) sailing a 16ft Shipmate cruiser

Stephie Cowling (Junior) and father Ian (Guardian).

David Buckland (Family member), sailing a Silhouette

Owain and Lorraine Rowley-Conwy. (Family Member) sailing an Enterprise.

Please make sure everything is locked before

leaving the site

Welsh Open Challenger Championships 2017 People travelled from Scotland and England for the Welsh Open Challenger Championship (WOCC) hosted at Llyn Brenig on 22 and 23 July. Peter Davies organised this event and facilitated a very well-thought out prize giving with some appropriate mementos of the experience. Click here to read the article in Yachts and Yachting.

2017 Training

A full schedule of training events have taken place throughout the year, with additional dates required due to demand for both the RYA level 1 and 2, and Powerboat 2 courses. The Sunday morning on-board sailing sessions for members that have their RYA 1 / 2 have again been a huge success. Run by our youth members, these sessions allow new sailors to build on their skills. Thank you to everyone that has made this possible, and congratulations to all those who have successfully completed the courses.

Since mid July, a pair of Ospreys have

been visiting the nesting pole on the

island nearest to the club. It is hoped that

this will become a regular nest.

As a result we ask all sailors to avoid

using marks 1 and 2, and to keep 100

metres away from the nesting poles to

avoid masts and rustling sails disturbing

these magnificent creatures.
