Divisibility Rule

Divisibility by 2

A number is divisible by 2 if digit in the ones place is 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8. Eg:- 20, 54, 676, 23458……. Divisibility by 3 A number is divisible by 3 if sum of the digits is divisible by 3. Eg:- 4521 Sum of the digits = 4 + 5 + 2 + 1 = 12 ÷ 3 = 4 Divisibility by 5 A number is divisible by 5 if digit in the ones place is 0 or 5. Eg:- 225, 90, 26755, 10000…. Divisibility by 10 A number is divisible by 10 if digit in the ones place is 0.

a) 282 Sum of the digits = 2 + 8 + 2= 12 As 12 is divisible by 3, so 282 is divisible by 3 b) 4284 Sum of the digits = 4+2 + 8 + 4= 18 As 18 is divisible by 3, so 4284 is divisible by 3 c) 7135 Sum of the digits = 7 +1 + 3 + 5= 16 As 16 is not divisible by 3, so 7135 is not divisible by 3 Practice Time: Q1) Check if the given numbers are divisible by 2,3,5,10
