the Chairman and later the General Secretary of the

Consortium of Autonomous Colleges in Kerala, he

As flag bearers of excellence in professional

education in south Kerala, ‘Lourdes Matha

Catholic Educational Society’ was established by

the initiative of Rev. Fr. Joseph Kurinjiparambil, former

vicar of Lourdes Forane Church, Trivandrum with the

encouragement of a group of Syrian catholic

parishioners who had left indelible impression in the

domain of education. This initiative had the

blessings and patronage of His Grace Mar

Joseph Powathil the then Archbishop of

Changanacherry. Lourdes Matha College of

Science and Technology (LMCST) came into

existence in 2002 out of the vision of this

society to establish an engineering institution

of repute in this part of the state.

Later, another institution was started to impart

education relevant to the evergreen hospitality

industry, namely, Lourdes Matha Institute of

Hotel Management & Catering Technology

(LMIHMCT). Both colleges are approved by the

Govt. of Kerala and All India Council for

Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to

University of Kerala and APJ Abdul Kalam

Mr. Ranjith Pillai is a graduate in Economics and the holder of a Diploma in hotel management from IHM Chennai. His interest in foreign languages led him to acquire an advanced Diploma in French from L’Alliance Francaise, Chennai. With nearly three decades of experience in the hospitality industry as an academician and an HR &

Training Manager, he understands well the keys to the success of a Hospitality College and also how to meet the dynamic demands of the hospitality industry on the human resource. Having worked with luxury hotel chains like the Taj, Leela and the Lalit group of hotels, his professional experience comes in handy in developing students as per industry norms. Institution building, student development and introduction of new learning methodologies have been his key areas of interest.

Mr. Prakash Nair has joined as the Director of Lourdes Matha Institute of Hotel Management And Catering Technology, Managed by the Archdiocese of Changanacherry, Kuttichal, Thiruvananthapuram with effect from February 2020. He worked for more than 37 years in the Hospitality industry across various locations and has worked in many hotel chains such as Ashok Group of Hotels, Taj Group of Hotels, Palaces & Resorts, and has managed as General Manager of hotels

such as Taj Residency Aurangabad, Taj Residency Nasik, Taj Residency, Lucknow Taj Residency, Cochin, Vivanta by Taj Malabar, Cochin, The Gateway Hotel, Pasumalai, Madurai, and The Gateway Hotel Marine Drive, Ernakulam.

A veteran in the field of Tourism and Hotel Management, Mr. Prakash Nair, had also been the General Manager Learning and Development for Taj Group of Hotels in Kerala. He was also the Principal of Institute of Hotel Management Aurangabad, a world-wide reputed Institute operated and managed by Taj Group of Hotels. Prior to joining the Taj Group of Hotels, Mr. Prakash Nair, was also the Principal of Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram, an institute affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, under the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. Mr. Prakash Nair successfully led the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram, as one of the best institutes in the country. Mr. Nair was also a senior faculty member at the renowned Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Mumbai.

Mr. Prakash Nair holds a BSc degree in Chemistry, a Postgraduate in Hotel Administration and Management from Austria, Post Diploma in Teachers Training and also a Certified Hospitality Educator from American Hotel and Motel Association in the year 2000.

Mr. Prakash Nair has also held various honourable positions in the industry such as Vice-President of Kerala Travel Mart Society and Vice-President of Association of Approved and Classified Hotels of Kerala.

Mr. Prakash Nair's forte is Hotel Operations and Human Resource Development with special emphasis on Learning and Development. He was also a member of Board of Studies for Hotel Management and Catering Technology at the University of Calicut.

RULES AND REGULATIONSŸ Student will be liable to pay tuition fee for minimum two years, if the admission is to be cancelled after university registration.

Ÿ Students must refrain from contacting any media including press for any reasons whatsoever, without prior permission of the Principal.

Ÿ A minimum of 75% attendance is required to be eligible to appear for university semester examination.

Ÿ Internal marks are awarded based on continuous evaluation of students’ performance in internal exams, assignment, and attendance.

Ÿ Parents / Guardian may keep regular contact with the college regarding to the progress of their ward.

Ÿ Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the college campus.

Ÿ Possession and use of tobacco / tobacco products / alcohol and any other drugs in the campus is strictly banned.

Ÿ The Principal is the final authority for decision making in academic and non - academic matters.

PROHIBITION OF RAGGING

Ragging in any type or misconduct towards any student either in the College campus, hostel, and College bus or outside will be considered as criminal offence and will be immediately reported to the police. Perpetrators will not be permitted to continue their studies in the college.

The institute gives due importance to prevent ragging in the campus and is always under the surveillance of the anti-ragging committee. The committee shall review the anti-ragging measures taken by the college, make modifications /improvements required if any and oversee the implementation. The anti-ragging squad in the college functions under the guidance of the anti- ragging committee.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Students below 22 years of age, with a pass in Plus Two or equivalent with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks are eligible

for admission. SC/ST Candidates need minimum 40% of marks. The candidate must appear for an entrance test

conducted by the University of Kerala for getting admission to merit seats or by LMIHMCT for getting admission to

management seats. The candidates qualifying the test will be called for a group discussion and a personal interview to

assess the candidate's communication skill, personality, and the suitability for a managerial career.
