LO: I can use imperative verbs
Session 1
Imperative verbs are sometimes known as bossy verbs.
They are verbs which tell you what to do.
They are often seen at the beginning of a sentence and create a
command.
What Is an Imperative Verb?

Here are some examples of imperative verbs
Eat your lunch.
Tidy the cloakroom.
Write today’s date.
Walk home after school.
Can you spot the imperative verbs in these sentences?
Go outside to play.
Spot the difference between these pictures.
Ask your dad what he thinks.
Kick the ball into the goal.
Surprise your friend to cheer them up.

How many different imperative verbs can you think of which would fit in the
following commands?

Choose one from each group to write in a sentence.

Mowzer’s favourite dinner is Star-gazy pie.
Here is a paragraph explaining how to make Stargazy Pie
Scale, clean & bone the fish, keeping the heads on! Season inside each with salt, pepper & parsley, roll neatly. Butter dish, & sprinkle a thick layer of breadcrumbs on. Lay in some of the fish, then alternate breadcrumbs & fish until dish is full. Cover with rashers (bacon). Beat eggs with vinegar, pour into pie, or use cream. Cover with pastry. Arrange heads on pastry, so as they are looking up (to the stars). Bake in a hot oven. Serve with a sprig of parsley in mouth of each fish.
Using this information your task is to write a set of instructions to explain how to
make it. Remember to lay your work out clearly using the correct features.
