PRESIDENT’S REPORTRANDY SMITH, President

I hope everyone had a safe Memorial Day. OnMay 6, 2016 Director Ron Mc Inroy presentedTwinkle Stuckey with the Walter Reuther Award

in the memory of Ginny Nailing at the Spring Conference in Ot-tawa. We got a tentative agreement at Delavan and we are waitingon the City of Delavan to approve it. We are still working on theSouth Pekin agreement. I would like to thank Greg Larson andeveryone on working on getting our finances back in order. Thecompany announced that they are going to tear down Building BBin Mossville, so much for the thought of something going back inthere. With the rest of these closings hopefully they will transfersome of that work into other areas.

The top 3 things in the surveys that the membership did in Febru-ary are: wages, health care and paid time off. We will be meetingwith other locals to see what their membership said. Cap ticketsare here at the hall; make sure you get some for your chance to win$10,000. The drawing is October 1, 2016. The Laura ValentineBags Tournament is Saturday, June 25th starting at 11 a.m. to support St. Jude. Remember our current agreement ends at mid-night on February 28, 2017.

*Remember we are stronger when we are together.

Spring Conference 2016 – Ottawa ILThe guest speakers were U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, U.S. Representative Cheri Bustos and Senatecandidate Tammy Duckworth.

Senator Durbin strongly endorses Tammy Duckworth for U.S. Senate. Senator Durbin also notesGovernor Rauner’s plans for Illinois have been disastrous for the state, especially for down state Illi-nois.

Tammy Duckworth discussed the job losses across the nation, such as our steel industry. China ismaking steel at a loss, because they want to keep it low so they will become the steel supplier around the world!
