NICOYA - Nicoya is the major town of the peninsula and the cultural center of the province of Gua-nacaste. It was Costa Rica’s first colonial city and boasts the oldest church in Costa Rica. People from the whole surrounding area, including the beach villages of Samara and Nosara come to Nicoya on a regular basis to do their shopping or to deal with their legal and banking needs. The town also hosts the biggest hospital of the Nicoya Peninsula. A recent study states that the Nicoya area ranks among the four regions in the world where people have the highest life expectancies.The town of Nicoya is located approximately 25 km from Black Beauty eco-village.

SANTA CRUZ - Santa Cruz is a typical Costa Rican rural town. Its inhabitants consist mostly of farmers, fishermen, workers or employees of several of the many hotels located in the vicinity. The town is known within Costa Rica for its cultural heritage and many historical traditions. These traditions include the Fiesta de Semana Santa (Easter week celebration) and number of festivals which include bullfighting ceremonies. LIBERIA CITY - The bustling colonial city of Liberia is the provincial capital of the Guanacaste Region. Liberia being one of the older cities in Costa Rica and a long time trading hub remains the economic center of the Guanacaste Province. The city itself is quite enjoyable and safe com-pared to the metropolis of San Jose, with local treats such as Juego de Cana (Sugar cane Juice), Copez Ricos (Snow Cones Costa Rica style), local ice cream shops, lots of fresh seafood from the nearby coastline, banks, movie theatres, restaurants, bars, and many more.
