LOCAL DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK
Development Plan Document
Annex 5: Proposals MapAdopted 21 December 2010
Please note that some designations of assets (e.g. Conservation Areas and Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation) change outside of the LDF plan making system. Their designation on these Proposals Maps may therefore not represent the latest position, so it is important to check these with the most up to date reference document.
In December 2010 the Conservation Area boundaries for Bedale, Easingwold, Northallerton and Stokesley were amended and these maps have therefore been flagged to draw attention to the changes. Please refer to the latest Conservation Area Appraisal Supplementary Planning Documents at www.hambleton.gov.uk/CAA
PROPOSALS MAP
INTRODUCTION
Context
1.1 The Council is required to include an adopted Proposals Map in its Local Development Framework (LDF), which should illustrate geographically the adopted LDF policies and proposals.
1.2 The LDF Proposals Map was first adopted on 26 February 2008 as Annex 5 to the Development Policies DPD. This has been amended to include the allocations and development limits in the Allocations DPD as adopted on 21 December 2010.
1.3 The Proposals Map will have to be republished to show other site allocations and areas which are included in North Yorkshire County Council’s adopted Minerals and Waste Development Plan Documents (Proposals Map), when these are finally decided upon.
Report Layout
1.4 This Annex starts with the main Proposals Map at 1:50,000 scale broken down into 11 separate overview maps referenced “A-K” from north-south/west-east as shown on the District index map on each page. These overview maps show 63 Inset Map area boundaries where more detailed information is presented at various larger scales, including town centre insets for the five market towns. The Inset Maps are presented alphabetically as listed in the index and each map indicates the sub area in which it lies (ie Bedale, Easingwold, Northallerton, Stokesley or Thirsk).
1.5 A pull-out ‘Legend’ is provided at the back of this document to be read alongside the maps. A full list of proposed site allocations by sub area and settlement is provided on the previous to back page. These are referenced first by sub area letter (B for Bedale, etc), then by land use letter (H for housing; M for mixed; E for employment and C for community and other uses), followed by a site reference number (e.g. BH1).
1.6 Established aerodrome safeguarded areas for certain planning application consultation purposes are also shown on the Proposals Map as this is a requirement of Circular 01/2003. These are neither the responsibility nor a proposal of the Local Planning Authority (See paras. 6.6.6 & 7.5.15 of the Development Policies DPD main report). To help clarify the extent of these areas they are also shown on a District context map at the start of this document. More detailed maps are available at the Council’s main offices.
1.7 Information on Flood Risk areas changes periodically and has therefore not been included on the Proposals Map. Instead reference should be made to the Flood Maps on the Environment Agency website: www.environment-agency.gov.uk or viewable at the at the Council’s main offices.
