For those who are 16 or younger fishing in freshwaters does not require a license, however saltwater fishing requires that anyone 16 or younger get a license but there is no fee. What license do I buy? If you are planning on doing saltwater fishing then a BC Tidal Waters License is required. If you are planning to do fresh water fishing then a Non-Tidal Angling License is required. Where can I buy fishing licenses? Both the BC Tidal Waters License and the Non-Tidal Angling license can be bought online. For freshwater fishing: www.fishing.gov.bc.ca (Freshwater fishing licenses are only available online.) In order to be able to fish for salmon an additional surcharge is required with the purchase of either of the licenses.
