Using cost, sales and labor data, the spreadsheet calculates the cost of producon for each crop and the profitability of each market channel (e.g., CSA, farmers market, wholesale, retail). The pre-conference Veggie Compass workshop gives aendees hands-on training on using the program. Each parcipant will leave with a flash drive containing the program and any work they have completed. Keith Knudson from the Dakota College at Bonueau will be teaching the workshop. Laptops and flash drives will be provided. Space is limited to the first 15 producers that sign up. There is no charge for this workshop. Mr. Kirschenmann is a Disnguished Fellow for the Leopold Center and President of Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture. He also oversees management of his family’s cerfied organic farm in North Dakota and is a professor at ISU. Kirschenmann graduated from the University of Chicago, and has wrien extensively about ethics and agriculture. Ms. Annoreno has an extensive background in local food systems. Her home is in Baudee Minnesota. Previously she lived and worked in Chicago and spent many years in Phoenix. In 2012 she started the Fresh Start Farmers Market in Baudee and received state-wide recognion for her efforts. Annoreno is currently contracted with the University of Minnesota as a farmers market coach for the northwest region of the state.

Pre-Conference WorkshopVeggie Compass is a farm management tool for diversified fresh market vegetable growers. Using cost, sales and labor data, the spreadsheet calculates the cost of production for each crop and the profitability of each market channel (e.g., CSA, farmers market, wholesale, retail).

The pre-conference Veggie Compass workshop gives attendees hands-on training on using the program. Each participant will leave with a flash drive containing the program and any work they have completed. Keith Knudson from the Dakota College at Bottinueau will be teaching the workshop.
