RUGBY CONSERVATIVES Reporting back to Hillmorton — Winter 2015
Merry Christmas from your
Hillmorton Team Dear Resident,
With the Christmas season upon us, we would like to thank you for your
support throughout the year.
2015 was a busy year with both the General and Local elections and
as we prepare for 2016 it is important that we hear from you, so we will
be knocking on doors in the New Year and talking to you.
As your local Councillors and Conservative community campaigners, we
work hard to make Hillmorton an even better place to live and keep in
touch with you all year round, not just at election time.
You will often see us at events around Hillmorton as we all live locally,
so please come up and speak to us.
Your views and opinions are really important to us.
Finally, we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Best wishes,
Kathryn, Dave, Nigel and Yousef

Work has already started to renovate the Dolman’s Farm
site, which will become a marketing suite and community
facilities, along with a café and shop for the new residents
when they move in.
The Dolman’s Farm area will be part of the wider phase known
as Houlton, which is where the first radio signal from Hillmor-
ton was received. Pending planning applications, this site is
intended to have 260 homes and a new primary school, cur-
rently scheduled to open in September 2017.
Although we welcome the development, it has to be appropri-
ate for the area. Your local Conservative team will keep in con-
stant contact with the developers Urban&Civic and will always keep you updated in our regular
local newsletters but if you want further information, please get in touch.
There is also a proposal by Barwoods to build 380 homes at Wharf Farm as part of the Radio-
Station master plan. For further details visit www.barwood.co.uk
KATHRYN LAWRENCE REPORTS BACK ON
THE MAST SITE ■ Work is due to begin on the
RadioStation Rugby Site,
better known to local Hill-
morton residents as the
Mast Site, in 2016. Council-
lor Kathryn Lawrence has
been looking over the plans.
BALLAST PITS HOUSING UPDATE Local residents and your local Councillors have been
successful in keeping the development of the Bal-
last Pits in Lower Street from increasing the number
of dwellings to be built. Orbit homes, who now own
the site, held a public exhibition to showcase the
amended plans on the 27th October.
After listening to the local community’s thoughts, they have decided to stay with
the original planning application of 76 dwellings and not 101 which they were sug-
gesting. Even though we still feel 76 is too many, this just goes to show that if the
community stands together and expresses their opinions there is a possibility of
having an impact. We still need to push forward and request a traffic assessment is
completed, as the traffic this development will create will have an effect on every-
body in Hillmorton, especially the surrounding roads, such as Lower Street and Con-
stable Road.

Conservative Association, both of Albert Buildings, 2 Castle Mews, Rugby CV21 2XL.

COUNCILLORS QUIZ MINISTER
Rugby conservative councillors had the
opportunity to quiz Rt Hon Greg Clark,
Secretary of State for Local Communities
and Government at the House of Com-
mons in November. Topics covered in-
cluded housing allocations, green belt,
social housing rents and recycling.
POLLING STATION REVIEW We are pleased to announce that the Stag and Pheasant Pub in School Street
has been approved as a venue for voters living in polling district EB. Rogers
Hall remains the polling station for district EA. It has not been possible to find
an alternative venue for districts EC and KK and Hillmorton Primary School
will continue to be their polling station.
Councillor Lawrence volunteered her time to be a Scrum Volunteer. “I mainly helped with the schools’ education programme, escorting school parties from the Fanzone, to the Art Gallery. The children had an introduction to how the rugby ball came into existence before making their own miniature balls. The children were very excited and really enjoyed playing tag rugby and learning to make and sew their own mementos of the game”
The Chancellor’s recent Spending Re-
view and Autumn Statement delivers on
the promise the Conservative Party
made to the British people that we
would put their security first. Over the
course of this Parliament we will pro-
tect both our economic security and our
national security.
We will achieve this by taking the diffi-
cult decisions to live within our means
and bring our debts down and by de-
fending our country’s interests abroad
whilst keeping our citizens safe at
home.
There will be no cuts in the police
budget and we are delivering on
our commitment to spend 2 per
cent of our national income on
defence.
Over the next five years we will also
deliver:
■ Full funding of the Five Year
Forward View put forward by
the NHS itself
■ The biggest real terms rise in
the basic State Pension in 15
years
■ The biggest house building
programme by any government
since the 1970s
■ 3 million new apprenticeships
■ The largest ever investment in
free childcare
This plan will deliver economic and
national security for hard working
people in Rugby, and across the
country.
