Hi,

For along our daily magazine, all focus on one entire look, but eventually much of the glorious belle begins with simple details, jewelry is one of them.

Jewelries contain much complexity, many local brands show their creativity by exploring the materials, shapes, and colours in to differ-ent piece of creation. It’s been a truly joy to hear the tales of jewelry designers, about how they inspired and how it’s created.

By Trunk Show Issue, we want to share you every nook and cranny jewelries in each body part which could bring you to the next level. However, whatever it is I think well maintained hair, manicured nails, flawless skin still the best accessories that we could ever have! Keep it and live it

Labdagatic , what’s the story behind the name?

Labdagati is a Sanskrit word. We de-cided to use Labdagatic as our brand name because it represents our hope in future that means ‘success’.

How is Malang’s fashion scene?

Well it looks more like Korean chic.

Is there any particular style in Ma-lang which influences Labdagatic for designing?

Well I don’t think so because our basic

idea comes from ethnic culture, street wear, and indie; while in Malang the fashion’s scene is kind of Korean chic.

Does Labdagatic aim for unisex jewelry? Why?

We can say that our product is unisex jewelry. Some of our stuff can be worn by both male and female.

From all your pieces which is your favorite and why?

Khalesi and Aubrey necklaces from the Elf Tribe’s collection. Those are our favorite neck-laces because it has detail pattern and its dif-ficult technique and it can be said that Khalesi and Aubrey have a pure taste of Labdagatic.

Page 15: Localbrand co id - September 2013

Tell us your brand personality!

Ethnic, street wear, culture, friendship, daily wear, unique.

What’s the perfect song to dance while wearing Lab-dagatic?

Time to pretend by MGMT.

Share us the process to make a necklace

First of all, we made raw sketch based on the theme. Then we chose the basic ingredients such as glass beads and threads. After that we trial and error in real-izing the raw sketch.

How long does one necklace take time

Well it depends on the level of difficulties.

15

Who is the jewelry-maker you most admire?

Venessa Arizaga.

What is the most unusual object that you diverted?

Perfume bottle for ‘treasure hunter necklace’. It is one of our most selling products.

What has been the biggest challenge in local fashion scene?

To be a trendsetter not as a follower.

Who do you want to see wearing your jewelry? (public figure)

Karen O – the vocalist of Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Give us a sneak peek for Labdagatic next collection…

Next edition, actually we haven’t arranged yet but right now we’re playing with a new brand which have differ-ent concept from Labdagatic which is more experimental, fun, and elegant.

What are you daily references?

Loose shirt with comfy jeans are perfect match with Lab-dagatic. There’s nothing can compare it.

Resy Gentayu Group

Do you have a personal philosophy by creating Catha Bags?

The philosophy in creating Catha Bags is that we want to prove that the young Indonesian local creations can also be considered as a “serious” and “original” product from design, quality, and detail wise.

What’s behind the name?

The word Catha itself comes from a Sanskrit word that means “creative”. We chose the name as our own as a hope that Catha can always create and produce such creative and original pieces.

Who do you imagine wearing your designs? (don’t name it, prefer you to describe it, how old is she? What’s her shoe? What’s she carrying? What’s she listening to? Etc.)

She’s a young woman that knows herself and is well com-posed and she knows what she has to do as a part of the

society. Aged between 22 – 35, she wears a pair of mary jane platforms, has her notebook and novel with her, and listens to bossanova jazz music.

What is your favorite piece from Catha current collec-tion?

Mini Champa

Every designer has their muse, who’s yours?

Every woman are our muse

Is there any particular material which Catha use? Why it becomes Catha preference?

Genuine Cow Leather, because the material is very strong and timeless that it makes every products something spe-cial.

Page 17: Localbrand co id - September 2013

What’s next for Catha bag?

We’re going to release our clothing line soon

Why don’t you release a man col-lection? What’s so special about designing for woman?

So far we still want to produce wom-en’s collection, what’s special about designing for a woman is that there are so many things to be explored.

If you could refers Catha bag as a movie, what would it be and why?

Devil Wears Prada, because in the movie it shows the main character who’s really smart and humble but still she got style.

“ We chose those colours to create the sense of fun in the middle of the monochromes which is our trademark colours “

Well, Catha seen has a wing logo and a particular pattern on each leather collection, what does it mean?

The logo was inspired by our group’s name “Resy Gentayu” which is a symbol of bird that turns into god’s ride across the sky. The symbol is a philosophy of a freedom. If it is con-nected with the word Catha which means “creative” then with the sym-bol it means a never ending freedom in being creative.

Catha have a slightly higher price from others, what makes you dif-ferent then?

The details in our production such as the fact that we’re handmade, the quality of the leather material, and the metal accessories.

Is there any tip to maintain leather and suede goods?

Tips for leather goods are that put your leather goods in a place with cool/mild temperature and no direct sun. If there is stain, mix a bathing soap into warm water and brush gently to your leather goods and rinse afterwards with cold water. To keep the leather soft, apply some body lotion when the leather goods is in dry condition. Oh as for suede goods, make sure it doesn’t catch the rain.

There’s color madness in Catha suede collection, why do you choose those colors (red, tosca, blue, pink)

We chose those colours to create the sense of fun in the middle of the monochromes which is our trade-mark colours

What’s the perk by designing bags?

By designing we’re challenged to be more creative and detail, because actually in choosing a bag the con-sumers want something that is very

comfortable for him/her.

Who’s the most suitable to be Catha ambassador? (public figure local/international)

http://localbrand.co.id/Cathabag

We supposed there’s no one specific that we could say would fit to be our ambassador. Because there simply are too many people that we feel would fit to be our ambassador.

Vice versa, what’s s*cks about it?

The difficult thing about it is that leather goods cannot be revised (once a mistake is made it cannot be used again) so the process that we do must be thoroughly planned so there is no mistake. When we find a mistake, we have to use a brand new material and do it all over again

What’s most inspiring you current-ly?

Women and nature
