Program Summary:New residential construction. Single family dwelling, designed and built for a growing family with an essential focus on innovative living.

Program Statement:Located adjacent to Lake Pontchartrain near New Orleans, Louisiana, this three-story new construction home takes full advantage of its waterfront views. The initial design of the project began with the homeowner’s passion of luxury automobiles and the design bloomed from there. Driving factors to the developed plans embody high design and caliber, attention to detail, exceptional quality, and modern sophistication. In addition, performance, strength, material, technology, and blending interior and exterior environments were critical factors.

The interior color palette is monochromatic accented with off whites, blacks, and fifty shades of grey. This palette was chosen to serve as a form of canvas to the space. Structural components of the home are important, key features on display and accentuated throughout the home evident in public spaces.

The main living area sets the tone of the home with its neutral color palette running continuously through all spaces. Lending itself as the homes canvas, this color palette serves to accentuate the homes structural components and play with textures.

Cladded walnut stair treads are supported by concealed, floating steel plates. Threaded metal cables cascade from the double height ceiling down to the edge of the first floor stair treads. The stairway is lined with sleek, smokey gray glass and decorated with a black, flat plate steel rail. Each design feature intertwines to create dimensionality, airiness, and transparency.

With a growing family in mind, focus on sufficient storage and top of the line cooking equipment were essential in this new construction. The kitchen island is draped with with waterfall edge countertops on both ends creating dynamic angles while maximizing guest space for entertaining.
