LOCATION HUNTING

We wanted to find an abandoned house to film one of the scenes for our music video. We started by researching

where some are and finding out from friends of any near us, we found one in pilgrims hatch but it was bordered off so

we was unable to get in. However we did find one in swallows cross near our school but had a restricted entry

as it was covered in stinging nettles and thorn bushes. Although we was able to get inside if we wanted to use this location it would cause difficulty in our risk assessment and

getting in and out of the house, so we won’t be using this location in our music video.

In this picture we used a panorama shot to gain access to all parts of the house in one shot, this was the down stairs of the house which you can see is completely ruined with doors on the floor and pieces of glass everywhere. This is the upstairs of the house which as

you can see is quite dark and risky being up there with the glass and broken floor boards which could have fallen through. Although this might have been a good location it would have been to dark to film a scene and the risks are way too high.

When we went to look at the abandoned house we came across a abandoned garage not far from the house which we thought would be ideal for the scene we want to do, because it had a lot of empty space and windows letting in the day light. We could use torch lights or the lights on our phones if we felt that it might have been too dark. This

location was easier to access and was close to walking distance of the car if we needed to bring any props, costumes and any extra essentials needed. We are going to carry out a risk assessment on this location to

make sure it will be safe to film there. The scene we are hoping to achieve here is Kieran sitting in the corner taking drugs/smoking and drinking to show that he is at a low point in life. By making the shot

darker it will show that he’s in a ‘dark place’ which fits in with our story line of him being depressed and maybe thinking of committing suicide. We will be using things such as flour as cocaine, needle caps and empty alcohol bottles, and the character will be dressed in a tracksuit showing

he isn’t working or planning to go to work.
