LOCATION RECCE

Production Title: Red Bull Ad

Date: 13.01.2012

Director: Seren Yavuz

Producer: Seren Yavuz

Pavement shot: (No: 1) Entrance of the skate park: (No: 2)

What will be filmed here? (No:1) This is where the filming will begin. The male actor will skate towards the skating park which is in the top left hand corner in the picture above (as well as the second photograph). He will stop for a moment and talk on the phone to his friend which is waiting for him at the skating park. He will then fall over while trying to get there quickly and so he decides to walk to the main location. In the second photograph (No: 2) the main actor will be able to see his friends waiting for him and he will be walking up towards them. I will be filming extremely long shots to emphasise the setting, and a close up when the actor falls over.

Why I chose this location – I chose it because I thought it was a natural location. It’s also a busy area at most times which makes the filming seem more realistic. Another reason is because of the obvious fact that it leads to the skating area which is where the main filming will be taking place.

Hazards that may occur - There are no serious hazards in this location other

than the actor falling over while skating, or if others walking by accidentally distract the actor. The trees in the middle of the pavement in the first photograph may also be seen as a hazard as it’s set in an unexpected place. The flooring on the bottom left hand corner is rough and jumpy and this may lead to being uncomfortable for the actor while skating. The surface stable for mounting the camera support may be slightly difficult as it’s bumpy and not smooth enough for it to be moving around. This may also cause a bumpy effect on the filming, though I will have a tripod to keep it still and in place. In the second photograph there are some sort of side barriers to part the skating area and the pavement. This could also be seen as a hazard as someone may sit on it and then fall back.

Time – I will have to be filming before five o’clock as I will be filming during the winter and the weather gets dark quite early.

Sound - The location above can be very busy at times which will effect the sound in my filming. I will have to chose a suitable time which is preferably in the afternoon or earlier to shoot as in the evening, it is known to be more busy. There will be no other sound problems such as building work.

Is there clean, drinkable water on site? There is a restaurant called the Giraffe restaurant which will have enough drinkable water, and also other food and drinks. There are also other restaurants and café’s near by.

Skate park: Skate park:

What will be filmed here? This is where the main actor will meet his friends and they will greet him. He will have a short conversation with his friends. This is also where the main filming will take place later on in the advert. The main characters friend will make the main actor drink the Red Bull to be able to do professional skills while skating. Some of the skating will take place in this area.

Why I chose this location - I chose this location because it has a wide enough skating area and it emphasises the energetic and sportive theme with the decorations. Also, as it is a skate park, this links directly to my advert as there are going to be people who skate involved.

Hazards that may occur - Again, there are no serious hazards involved in this setting however the walls built in the middle of the skate park could be dangerous for those who skate. The surface is also hard flooring and so if the actors accidentally fall over while skating, they could injure their selves. For these hazards not to occur, I will have to find professional skaters who are able to do skills without hurting themselves.

Time – I will have to be filming before five o’clock as I will be filming during the winter and the weather gets dark quite early. I will also have to chose the correct time which will be when there are not too many people at the skating area which will cause difficulty in my filming.

Sound - This location is open for anyone who wants to chill with their friends or to skate and do other activities and sports. It can be very busy at times which will effect the sound in my filming. I will have to chose a suitable time which is preferably in the afternoon or earlier to shoot as in the evening, it is known to be more busy. There will be no other sound problems such as building work.
