Location

PurposeThepurposeofthispageistoprovideusefulinfoonLocationwithintheSAPMasterDatacontextandonhowtomanage/maintainsame.

OverviewAlocationisaplaceororganizationalunitatwhichquantitiesofproductsorresourcesaremanaged.

LocationistheotheressentialmasterdataelementinAPOplanning.Aswellasproductitisalsousedbyalltheadvancedprocesseslikelocationproduct(orproductlocation),model,planningversion,transportationlanes.

Everylocationhasaddressdatatoo:AddressdataisnotstoredtogetherwithAPOlocationintheAPOdatabaselayerbutintheSAPBasislayer.APOlocationsuseupaddressdatafromthere.

IftheLocationisnotcreateddirectlyinAPObuttransferredviaCIFfromR/3thentheERPVendor,ERPCustomer,ERPPlantwillbeconvertedtoanAPOLocation(withaspecificLoc.Type).

LocationandSCU(SupplyChainUnit):SCUtransaction:/N/SCMB/SCUMAIN

WhenalocationiscreatedinSAPSCMeithermanuallyorbytransferviathecoreinterface(CIF),thesystemautomaticallycreatesanSCUwithidenticalgeneralandaddressdataandthebusinesscharacterplanninglocation.

Conversely,ifyoucreateanSCUwiththebusinesscharacterplanninglocation,thesystemautomaticallycreatesalocationwithidenticalgeneralandaddressdata.

DependencywithLocation:IfthetheSupplyChainunithasaBusinessAttribute:PlanningLocation,thentheSCUisdependentwithitslocationpair(/N/SAPAPO/LOC3).TheSCUcannotbedeletediftheLocationstillexists.Howeverifthelocationmasterisdeleted,thepairedSCUwillbedeletedaswell(regardlessofdeletionflagissetornot).StandaloneSCUscanbedeletedbythedeletionflagissetonthecorrespondingSCU(viaTransaction/SCMB/SCUMAIN>GeneralTab>DeletionFlag).Aftersettingtheflagthedeletionbackgroundreportcanbescheduledfromthemainscreenof/n/scmb/scumaintransaction.Note1:ExecutingthereportwilldeleteallstandaloneSCUswhicharemarkedfordeletion.
