Greetings from Blue Lake Springs! Happy Valentine’s Day in advance! Well, we were hoping
for snow and rain this past month, and sure enough we got more than we asked for.
It has been reported that last week we received five plus feet of snow over a period of four to
five days in BLS and the surrounding communities. This is the most snow in such a short
period dating back to 2011. Our BLS community is in a mess due to the storm damage. We
have had road closures, power outages, internet and Comcast outages that have lasted in
some cases over seven plus days. There have also been many instances of trees down on
cabin rooftops, so if you are a part-time resident you may want to have someone check on
your cabin. All that being said, we are on the way to cleaning-up and restoration. A huge thank
you goes out to the crews who plowed the roads, cleared downed trees, snow shoveled, and
the PG&E and Comcast crews who have worked tirelessly for many long days and nights.
Our BLS Snowflake Restaurant offerings for Friday and Saturday night take-out dinners
continue to be popular. You can place your orders and pick-up time by calling the office at
209-795-2357. Also, the restaurant is offering a special menu for Valentine Day weekend, so
place your orders!
President’s weekend/week in mid-February will bring many visitors and members to our
community to ski and play in the snow. This weekend/week is the second busiest period
(second to Christmas/New Year’s week) of the winter months, so expect a lot of activity in our
community.
Stay safe and warm!
Best Regards,
Doug Hjelmhaug

VOLUNTEERS IN PREVENTION (VIP)
Hello BLSHA Members, Well…….that was an interesting two weeks! The cold temperatures and the amount of snow that fell, took its toll on BLSHA trees. I have received about 75 requests for property visits. 90% of the properties that I visited, had a tree that had fallen. About 10% of those had a tree that fell and hit the house or deck. If you have not asked the Association to look at your property, and you have not set eyes on your property, please feel free to send us an email at [email protected]. We would be happy to drive out to the property and give you a real-time report.
If your power line was disconnected from the house, please call an electrician. PGE cannot restore your power until an electrician has hooked the line back up and received County approval. All property owners are responsible for the line from the pole, to the structure. If you are unsure whether you have power or in-ternet, send us an email at [email protected], and we can schedule a property visit. Comcast will hook your lines back up, however they may ask that the power be restored first. Call your cable/internet provider and ask if that service has a cost.
There is a 3 to 4 foot ice berm, which is front of almost every property. If you have plans on arriving at night, please take the time to call a plow or snow blower service. Most driveways, still have about 1 to 3 feet of snow, depending on the tree canopy. If you need any phone numbers for service providers, please do not hesitate to ask. Send us an email at [email protected], for all of your service provider questions.
Please do not start a fire in your fireplace or wood stove until you have checked the chimney and vent. I am finding that many trees and debris landed very close to the chimney. With everything else that is happen-ing, the last thing you want is to burn your structure down. Inspections will be starting at between April and May. Please remember to get on a service provider’s schedule, as soon as possible. Every year, we receive phone calls telling us that their service provider can-not do the job until after the inspections. Please know that you will still receive a fail on the inspection and will also receive a violation notice. The best thing to do is sign up with a provider, today! To every Member that requested a site visit, we hope we decreased your anxiety level. For all of your who have not made the request, it costs nothing. Just send an email to [email protected], to make a request. If you have made a request and have not received any information yet, please send us an email at [email protected].
Good luck and have a wonderful February, Thomas Hein BLSHA Fire Prevention Coordinator

CC&R’s
Conditions, Covenants and Restriction (CC&R’s)
Dear Members,
This article is to help aid homeowners in understanding the CC&R’s, and possible violation of such. There are a few violations of the CC&R’s within the development. The goal of the Association is to educate the mem-bership of these possible violations. Remember, homeowners can always access the Associations CC&Rs and Bylaws on our website www.blsha.com under members links.

All owners are required to cut down dead and diseased trees and/or vegetation and remove all debris on both improved and unimproved property.
Failure to comply will give The Association the option (after 30 days written notice) to bring said property into compliance and bill said owner/owners for all associated cost, including any legal fees.
