Following the interest of the market that, for different reasons, is moving with always largerinterest to all electrical actuation, Logic has matured the know-how necessary to includealso the electrical actuation capability in its basket.

Main features of electrical controlled actuation are:

• Possibility to easily design smart actuator, following the concept of “distributedintelligence”

• Possibility to implement complex control law of the actuators

• Possibility to easily change the behavior of the actuator through new SW

• Easy maintenance operations (calibration, replacement, etc.)

• Full BITE function HUMS

• Performance independent from the ambient temperature

Actuator Control Unit (ACU)

In the course of a research program (Industria2015), LOGIC have developed an electronicequipment (ACU) that drives a brushless motor tocontrol the extension/retraction of the helicopterlanding gear legs

− The ACU will drive a brushless motor with amaximum power consumption of 800W

− Dual channel technology, one based on highperformance microcontroller (actuation) andone based on programmable logic device(supervisor)

− The ACU manages an electromechanical braketo stop any legs movement

− FREE-FALL management

− HUMS data management

ACA Rotary Actuator

• Operates under an opposite torque of 260Nm

• Electrical operating stroke: 193.7°

• Two position switches, one for each end of theelectrical stroke

• Manual interface to assure, by a manual crank rotation, the output shaft full stroke movement in case of powersupply unavailability

• 60000 cycles without replacement or repair of majorstructural components

• Power Supply 18Vdc - 30Vdc

• Power Consumption 18 Amp. Max

NH90 Fuel Management System

Fuel system is composed of:

− Main Computer− Backup Unit with pilot/co-pilot interface (NVIS Class A Type I)− External fuel ground control panel dedicated to refuel

operation− 6 active probes (microprocessor equipped), 2 with optical LL

The system manages 25 devices (electromechanical valves, pumps, sensors for refuel, transfer and fuel dump)

• SW DO178B level B• ARINC 429 interface to the Avionics

The system compensates for the flight attitude with the datareceived from Avionic. Provision to perform the compensationdirectly with built-in flight attitude sensor, based on MicroElectro-Mechanical System (MEMS), is already available.
