LOGO PRACTISE

Page 2: Logo practise

What I used◦ In order to create these logos, I used a website called ‘Tailor Brands’ which was

suggested to me by a friend. I found this website very useful as it enabled me to create logos for my band website. To avoid copyright issues, I have came up with a different name to the original artist ‘Flume’. At first I made an account, it then asked me to specify what our logo name is, secondly it then asked me to describe my business. For the I stated that we are a girl pop band from Australia in need of a fun logo for our band website. The site then asked me what my logo should be based on, I put icon. Furthermore, it then asked me to decide which icon and fonts I prefer, this then generated to the final product. I have made a few, but as a group we have decided to use one particular logo for our website.

Foxgloves

This is the logo we have chosen to be our logo featured on the website. The name was inspired from Flume’s recent album cover which features a flower on it which is known as a foxglove. I think the name is quite unique, however it proved to be somewhat problematic when trying to stick the genre style of pop. We didn’t want our logo to flow over to perhaps the indie rock genre by it looking too quirky, however I believe this problem is solved by the typography and the colour of text. The pink writing has connotations of being fun and bubbly, which is what we are aiming for with the pop genre.

Practise piece - Good Egg

This logo design is a practise piece I did. Everyone in my group approved of it, however the name ‘Good Egg’ perhaps implies that we are not a serious pop girl band and maybe unprofessional. I think this logo is simple, but yet affective, however it is quite quirky but does fit into the pop genre. It would especially fit into my website as the colour theme of it is pink, which represents feminine qualities.

Practise piece – Yellow Perfecting

This logo idea was inspired by my favourite colour being yellow, however when I put the font into being yellow, it didn’t stand out enough so I choose the purple colour. This was so that it again fitted into the pop genre and reflected feminine qualities. The icon is quite significant as it’s of eyelashes and filled in eyebrows, which is typically associated with women due to makeup so without even knowing the group, people could infer that the music was by a girl pop group without even knowing the music. This again would fit into our website because of the colour connotations.

Practise piece – Log Flume

This was the first design for the logo I came up with. This design was very much inspired by the artists name Flume, the artist which wrote the song we are doing for our A2 music video. I do think that the log icon makes the logo look more indie, so this wouldn’t really work for our band website. Also, the name ‘Log Flume’ isn’t really a good name to use for a band because it doesn’t sound like a pop girl group. Furthermore, I think the font used is too fancy and not fun enough to be classed within the pop genre.
