HOMECOMING
b | 2019 Homecoming
Dear Alumni, Staff and Friends,
Coming together as One Loma Linda during Homecoming for the past two years has exceeded our expectations in connecting our alumni. Many times as I am visiting with alumni couples around the country, they tell me just how special it is for them to be able to come back to Loma Linda University together.
Families have shared how they’ve created reunions around this Homecoming. They bring their shared experiences and come together to celebrate their alma mater, their education and their family legacy.
I am delighted to invite you home to Loma Linda University Health in 2019. Our theme is “Mission Possible.” We’ll be sharing heartwarming stories of alumni, students and staff who are carrying our mission into their communities and around the world.
We look forward to celebrating with you – to learning, worshiping and enjoying time together. Come back to the very place where memories were made and new ones are waiting for you.
Please take time to review the schedule and register for the multiple events we have to offer. Loma Linda University Health awaits you from Thursday, February 28 through Monday, March 4, 2019.
See you soon!
Cordially,
Richard Hart, MD, DrPHPresidentLoma Linda University Health

Continuing EducationYou will find numerous opportunities to obtain continuing education credits. Thursday, February 28, is a full day of interdisciplinary topics. For sessions specific to your degree or school, please check the school section.
Mission Emphasis BreakfastJoin us on Friday, March 1, to hear Dr. Jeff Bartley share his mission adventure. A graduate of Loma Linda School of Dentistry (1980), Bartley has practiced general dentistry for 25 years in rural Nevada and eight years in Alaska. He has practiced out of a mobile clinic he built himself, in town practices, near the Arctic Circle, and in five different offices he developed from scratch into profitable clinics which he then sold.
He has traveled extensively and provided short term mission service in Palau and Guyana. After “retiring” on a 300-acre ranch in Idaho, he spent three months in Malawi overseeing the extensive remodeling of an office building into a world standard facility for the Blantyre Adventist Hospital Dental Clinic. His enthusiasm for dentistry, for quality construction, for adventure and cross-cultural collaboration has made this project a vibrant success and will entertain and inspire you.
Hospital Construction ToursOn Friday, March 1, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., join tour guides as they take you to an overlook where you can view the current construction and provide updated information on Vision 2020.
Meet at the Centennial Complex for a shuttle to the site. Shuttles run every 30 minutes (2 tours at a time).
Spiritual ProgrammingSteeped in Loma Linda University Health’s rich history is the mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ. Our spiritual programming for the weekend will focus on this mission. Plan now to attend these special opportunities — these reminders of why we do what we do every day.
Friday evening, join us for vespers in the Loma Linda University Church. Starting at 7 p.m., hear an inspiring story of a student from the heart of San Bernardino and live-saving innovations put in to action by alumni in Africa.
Sabbath, March 2, begins with a prayer walk. Together, we will have an opportunity to reflect on our history and pray for the future of our campus, our students and the lives of those we serve every day. Our Sabbath services will take place in the Drayson Center. Starting with the Parade of Flags ceremony, you will be reminded of the courage of our alumni and moved by the commitment of current students to go into the world and live our mission. You will also enjoy great music from the Loma Linda University Church orchestra and a sermon by Randy Roberts.
Following afternoon reunions, please join us once more at the Loma Linda University Church for the annual mission vespers.
