Olympic service updates

The following operating procedures will be in place from Monday 23rd July to Monday 10th September 2012.

Impact of Olympics on deliveries

Based on the traffic disruption and security access information from TfL and LOCOG, we are predicting an increase in average van delivery times of 40-60%, with bike delivery times increasing by 20-40% on average. The Olympics are obviously an unprecedented event in London and so these percentages are simply estimates, which may increase or decrease due to a number of different factors including specific events such as road races, weather conditions, security issues and other cultural events which are planned over the seven week period.

For this reason, CitySprint are unable to commit to any service level agreements that are in place with customers during this period.

We are, however, committed to ensuring that our customers can expect to receive a reliable courier service during this period, and we will be working closely with all our customers to manage service expectations during this unprecedented time.

For more information regarding our Olympic Contingency Plans, please visit our website citysprint.co.uk/olympics or speak to your local service centre or account manager.

Deliveries into London

In order to minimise the impact on service delivery to our customers we will be implementing a number of initiatives to reinforce service and overcome some of these obstacles. These include;

• Utilising jogging and skating couriers to deliver small packages• Double manning four-wheeled vehicles with two couriers• Extending opening hours at our service centres• Providing a collection service from our service centres• A dedicated Olympic Customer Service team to respond to customer queries and provide real time advice on service levels• Robust levels of couriers available to work

In addition, we will be consolidating deliveries into London. This is to ensure that regional couriers travelling into London do not get caught up in the anticipated traffic congestion and can continue on their way to carry out other deliveries.

It also means that we can ensure the dedicated shuttle fleet, facilitating the final mile delivery, have a good knowledge of London postcodes and can carry out multiple deliveries with the least amount of impact to service.

These additional measures carry significant cost implications to us, and to ensure we can provide as best a service to our customers during this seven week period, we will be applying a small surcharge to certain journeys.

SameDay Courier deliveries within London

All SameDay Courier deliveries undertaken within the London postcodes shown in the map below will be charged at your agreed SameDay Courier tariff. Priority services will be available to customers wishing to book a ‘fast track’ delivery, again at agreed account priority tariffs. Delivery commitments will be agreed at point of booking although cannot be guaranteed.

Any SameDay Courier deliveries from outside these postcodes into London will carry a small surcharge of £3.75. This surcharge is being applied to help cover some of the increased costs associated with implementing a consolidated delivery service into London; CitySprint are in no way profiteering from the Olympics, but have had to take measures to bolster ‘business as usual’ services for the benefit of our customers.
