Improve your ability to lead in any situation

Meridian deals with real-life leadership issues and insights, so it is neither classroom nor lecture based. For example, we’ll send you to prison, put you in hospital or get you into a production plant. We go beyond standard leadership models and learn instead from the successes and failures of leaders from all sectors. Participants are taken out of their familiar environment to examine why, when and how they lead.

“Each of my team have taken away something different from Meridian – gaining confidence, learning to better engage staff, getting new business, networking and becoming part of the community outside of the Premier Inn bubble.

I feel the courses help my General Managers prepare for changes that may not be absolutely clear right now. What is clear is that we will need to do things differently to stay leaders in our field.” Peter GardinerLondon Operations DirectorPremier Inn

CREATE YOUR OWN COURSE

You have up to six months to complete your modules, which can all be done in your local area, in a different UK city or internationally in places such as Bangalore, Istanbul or Johannesburg.

WHAT HAPPENS ON THE MERIDIAN COURSE?

Meridian doesn’t take place in a classroom – it takes place in the real world in which you live and work. The course is anchored by three core, compulsory, days at the start, mid-point and end where you will look at when, where and how you lead. Between the core days, you’ll select from a series of modules including:

• Understanding place - comprehensive insights about how the local area really works.

• Understanding change - investigate real-life leadership challenges based in hospitals, schools, businesses and council chambers, meeting and quizzing the leaders who make the decisions there.*

• Leadership insights-keyleaderssharefirst-handexperience-fromtheirsuccesses and failures - of leading beyond their immediate area of authority to create change.

• Learning groups - peer group sessions to discuss and tackle individual leadership challenges.

• Practices - a series of leadership ‘practices’ or small challenges to complete in your own time to broaden your thinking.

• Marketplace - an online forum where participants are able to ask for and offer advice, and share opportunities to gain exposure to one another’s worlds.

• Quests - a day immersed in the economic, political and social context of another city, either in the UK or internationally in cities like Budapest, Lille or Essen.

* Meridian modules take place in a variety of settings and locations and not necessarily those listed here.
