HISTORY OF LONDONLondon became a capitial city in the late

900AD after the Roman settle near the River Thames. The Romans built many of the

bridges in London. In 1066, After William became king, King Edward The Confessor built a majestic high cathedral in Westminster. Today this cathedral dominates the

skyline of London.

GREAT FIRE- 1666

In 1666 a great fire swept London. This fire destroyed families, 52 churches and buildings. On 2nd September 1666, a fire broke out in Pudding Lane, this fire became the worst destruction in

history for London. Many people helped to clear the extend of the fire into the muddy River Thames. This event stopped

on 5th September 1666 and killed thousands in London.

HOW HAS LONDON CHANGED IN THE 21’ST CENTURY

London is a urbent, vibrant city and the main Capitial of England. In the 21’st Century, it has allowed people to flock to the city to see the

historical buildings, art galleries, The Eye and River Thames.

The town is a majestic city and it holds nearly 10,000 people. I think London is a great city to visit

for 2-3 days by train, bus or car.

ST PAUL'S CATHEDRALAfter the destruction of the Great fire of London, Sir

Christopher Wren was asked to build 52 new churches in London. In 1673, Wren had a idea to build a majestic gothic

cathedral called St Paul’s. This new design would look at the old building which was burnt during the Fire of London. After 53 years of building, the final majestic design was completed in 1713. Today this cathedral holds funerals, church services. The building allows the

public to go up to the dome to see London.

WESTMIINSTER ABBEYWestminster Abbey was first built in 879Ad. The

main cathedral was built In the 10th Century after William’s crowning on Christmas Day 1066.

Today the cathedral has become a home to major events and public visits. There is a lot of

people looking at the most amazing and spectacular building in London.

LONDON OLYMPICSIN 2012, the world came together to celebrate the great

sporting achievements of London Olympics and Parlylimpics 2012.

In the 2 memorable, special and friendly games, the world watched many famous faces such as Mo

Farah, Jessica Ennis, Andy Murray and many other British athletes take on the games in London and

Hyde Park. At the end of the 2 weeks, Britain came together to say

goodbye to the Olympics Games as the flame went off for Brazil in 2016.

THE 02 ARENAThe 02 Arena was built between the years of 1990 and

2007. The building is a large stadium which has had amazing musical acts and television awards held here.

The 02 arena used to be the Dome where a exhibition use to be. Today the 02 Arena belongs to

the world as the most attractable events hall in London after the new Wembley Arena.

WEMBLEY ARENAWembley Arena is the biggest and major arena in London. This

arena can hold up to 5,000 and 10,000 people. This new Wembley Arena was finally built in 2007 after 10 years of

rebuilding the old arena from 1997.

Today the arena holds different concerts, events and television shows. The arena is the place for The FA Cup

Final, The X Factor and Concerts for pop stars and celebrities.

TRALFAGAR SQUARE

Tralfagar Square is a busy market town in the central of London. This street was named after the Battle of

Tralfagar in 1805 as there is a statue of Lord Nelson. Today the square has been the central point of shopping,

pigeons and watching concerts and seeing Nelson Statue.

HYDE PARK

Hyde Park is a historical manmade park in London. This parkland has had many different concerts, services and events happening each year. The park has many different people coming to watch

events at Hyde Park in London.

BUCKKNGHAM PALACE• Buckingham Palace is the most attractive and historical resident of the Queen and her Royal

Family. • The house was built during the 18th century

before Queen Victoria and Prince Albert lived in the house.

•When the Queen is now in, the House is used for Guided tours each day in London.

CONCLUSION•My conclusion is that London is a very busy,

fun and attractiable place to visit. You have lots of places of intrest to find when visitng

London for 2-3 days while travelling.•London is a pretty town, it is near Windsor and Warwick so you can get down to the city. London is the first

capitial city of England after Birmingham and York.

NEW YEAR’S CELEBRATIONS

After the chiming town of midnight, London lits up with fireworks for the next exicting new year. This event happens near the Eye and Big Ben.
