Bible Learning Activities

8:45 & 11:30 (11:00 at WH and 11:15 at Gallatin)Intro Activities— Match Pictures: Give a musical instrument card to each child. Call on a child to lay his card on the floor in front of the group. Ask the child with the matching instrument card to place it beside the first card. Continue until all instruments are matched. Talk about how we use music, and singing to worship God and show Him our love. Build with Blocks: Stand up the pictures of church fronts in the block area. Ask the preschoolers to choose one of “church fronts” and build a church with the blocks. Talk with them about the different types of churches and about what we do at church. Lead children to pray and thank God for their church.

Bible Learning Activities:Create Yarn Pictures. Give each child a piece of paper, glue, and yarn. Using red, blue, and purple yarn, guide the children to glue various colors of yarn, along with the Bible verse on their papers. As the children work on their pictures, ask them to tell you the colors of the yarn. Explain that these are the colors King Solomon used to make curtains for the church he built. Talk with the children about the importance of having a church to come to so that they can: hear Bible stories, pray, make friends, and WORSHIP God. Tell them the Bible story is about singing songs to God.

Make a Fun Fan. Give each preschooler ¼ sheet of construction paper. Invite preschoolers to decorate their sheets with crayons and markers. Glue today’s Bible verse on the fan. Accordion fold the papers. Tape a craft stick to the fan. Show the preschoolers how to fan themselves.

God had a special job for King Solomon. God wanted King Solomon to build a special church (temple). The temple would be a beautiful place where people could come to sing and say

thank you to God.King Solomon used many workers to help build the church. The building was very large. It had a porch across the front.

On each side of the front door was a big, tall column. The inside of the temple was covered with gold. Workers used many sparkling stones to decorate the temple. King Solomon made a curtain from red, blue, and purple cloth. The curtain

was hung in a special place inside the temple. When the church (temple) was finished, King Solomon and the

people celebrated. Some of the people played music on trumpets and cymbals. Other people sang thank-you songs to God. They sang, “God is good. God will always love us.” They

thanked God for their new church (temple).

10:00 (9:30 at White House) Intro Activity—Learn the Bible Verse: Print each word of today’s Bible phrase and the Scripture reference on a separate index card. Place a number from 1 to 5 on each card. Scatter the cards facedown on the floor. Say today’s Bible phrase and ask five preschoolers to choose a card and turn it over. Help the children put the phrase in the correct order. Draw to Music: Tape large sheets of paper to 2 tables. Place markers and crayons on the table. Ask the preschoolers to draw as you play joyful music on the CD player. Talk to them about the things that make them happy and encourage them to draw those people or things. Say: “The people in the Bible story today sang happy songs to God. When we sing songs to God, He is happy!”Bible Learning Activities:Make Maracas. Give each child a brown paper bag, markers or crayons. Encourage them to decorate their paper bags. Give them the Bible phrase strip to also glue on their bags. After the bags are decorated, supervise them placing one handful of beans and one handful of rice inside their bags. Take the bags and insert a craft stick in the mouth of the bag—gather the paper around the stick and tie tightly with yarn. [You can tape the end as well to prevent items from coming out.] Show the preschoolers how to shake the maracas and make music.Sing together.
