LIST OF PERFORMANCES – Saturday, May 21st: SHOW #1: Thumbelina Children’s Division (Combo 3/4/5) – at 1:00pm SHOW #2: Raising the Barre Ballet & Open Levels A/B & Kids – at 2:30pm

SHOW #3: Raising the Barre Ballet & Open Levels C/D/E/PBIP & Teen/Adult – at 4:00pm

RECITAL LOCATION: Niwot High School (NHS) Auditorium ~ 8989 Niwot Road

DIRECTIONS TO NHS FROM LDTA: Head West on Nelson Rd (for 0.7 mi). Turn Left (S) on Hover Rd/95th St (for 2.8 mi). At Niwot Rd, head West to the traffic light (0.6 mi). Turn Right (N) and head around to the North side of the school to find the Backstage Entrance to drop-off performers. To access the Auditorium Entrance, audience member please use the Parking Lot to the South (enter from Niwot Rd).

RECITAL FEE: $35 per student, maximum fee is $65 per family. Fee includes (5) complimentary tickets per performance fee paid. Recital fees can be reduced to $25 per student when a parent volunteers for either backstage or front of house support during the recital, one child’s fee may be reduced per volunteer occurrence, fees may be reduced to $50 per family.

RECITAL TICKETS: $5 General Admission, all audience members must show their tickets to enter the auditorium. Families receive (5) complimentary tickets per paid participation fee.

IN-STUDIO DRESS REHEARSAL & PORTRAITS AT LONGMONT DANCE THEATRE ACADEMY: LDTA will be having a MANDATORY in-studio dress rehearsal and recital portraits by group and individual on Saturday, May 14th. This dress rehearsal will be a dry run of both the Levels A/B & Kids and the Levels C/D/E/PBIP & Teen/Adult performances. In-Studio Dress Rehearsal for SHOW #2: Levels A/B & Kids 1:30-3:30pm In-Studio Dress Rehearsal for SHOW #3: Levels C/D/E/PBIP & Teen/Adult 4:30-7:30pm

*The Children’s Division performance does not have a dress rehearsal, but will have a portrait schedule at LDTA on May 14th from 12:00-1:15pm. Individual classes will be given a 10 minute time-slot within the hour, so students do not have to be present for the entire block of time. We ask that you arrive 5 minutes prior to your portrait start time to keep the schedule running promptly.

Professional photography will be offered by Mike with Oliver Photography during this dry-run dress rehearsal. Each class will take a group shot and, if individual pictures are ordered, then faculty members will pose students. A more detailed schedule for portraits by class will be posted in the LDTA studios. To ensure a peaceful and organized picture taking experience for all, please return all photo order forms by May 13th. Late orders/orders turned in on portrait day may not be served with the same priority as those turned in on time.


ON-STAGE DRESS REHEARSAL AT NIWOT HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM: Ballet and Open Division Recital Levels A/B & Kids: Friday, May 20th 4:30-6:00pm Ballet and Open Division Recital Levels C, D, E, & Teen/Adult: Friday, May 20th 6:00-8:00pm **Students participating in the Recitals must be present for both dress rehearsals (in-studio and on-stage) or they may not participate in the Recital.

ARRIVAL TIME and SIGN-IN: Students must arrive 15 minutes prior to their show/rehearsal, in costume, with their hair/make-up done appropriately. Every dancer will be required to have a parent sign them into the dressing room area via the Backstage Entrance. Under no circumstances may a dancer leave the dressing room unattended. LDTA and its volunteers will make every effort to speed the sign-in process along, but please realize that your child’s safety is our main concern. You can help the sign-in process run smoothly by arriving on time with hair, make-up, and costume completely ready. Please show your appreciation to the parent volunteers who will be signing your child in and out.

DEPARTURE TIME and SIGN-OUT: *The Children’s Division Show is estimated to run 1 hour. No dancer will be allowed to leave while the show is in progress. Students may be signed-out by a parent after the show in the Auditorium Lobby. *The Levels A/B & Kids Recital is estimated to run 1 hour. No dancer will be allowed to leave while the show is in progress. Level A/B & Kids students may be signed-out by a parent after the show in the Auditorium Lobby. *The Levels C/D/E/PBIP & Teen/Adult Recital is estimated to run 2 hours and includes no intermission. Dancers in this performance may be signed-out after their dance(s) have been performed at the Backstage Entrance. Performers cannot sign themselves out; a parent must be present for a performer to be excused.

CAMERA POLICIES, RECITAL PICTURES & VIDEOS: Please remember, no flash photography will be allowed during the performance. It is injurious to the dancers (your children) on stage. LDTA will NOT be videotaping the performances so please bring your own video cameras to film the recital.

DRESSING ROOM ASSIGNMENTS Each student will be assigned to a particular dressing room/hallway for the recitals. LDTA requires all students to remain in the assigned dressing room so performers can be located when it’s time to perform. Each group

of performers will be assigned to a Backstage Volunteer—volunteers are in charge of performer safety. LDTA is always short on these volunteers. For a smooth show, consider helping out.

BACKSTAGE VOLUNTEERS Backstage Volunteers will be assigned to individual groups of performers. The duties of backstage parents are to assist with costume changes, hair and make-up, as well as to keep an eye on the performers in their group. LDTA recitals really cannot occur without Backstage Volunteers—to ensure an amazing recital, please volunteer! LDTA offers a Recital Fee discount to parents who volunteer! Backstage Volunteers MUST be present during the in-studio (May 14 @ LDTA) and on-stage dress rehearsals (May 20 @ NHS).


COSTUMES Costume order forms and/or measurement charts must be turned in to the LDTA Office by March 26th. In order to guarantee timely costume arrival, LDTA must order early in the semester. In an effort to provide a larger costume selection for our recitals, LDTA will be getting things going earlier—which means we need your cooperation in meeting these deadlines!!

MAKE-UP & HAIR Your dancers are beautiful just as they are. If you feel the need to put make-up on your dancer then please use the following guidelines:

Levels A & B: Lip gloss/balm, minimal blush, fair eyebrows enhanced with brow pencil Level C: Minimal medium tone lipstick (no pinks or dark colors), minimal blush, fair eyebrows

enhanced with brow pencil Levels D/E/PBIP & Teen/Adult:

Base – All dancers must wear a base that matches their skin tone, blended well at the jaw and hairlines. Please note that your color tones might not be the right colors for your child – check ahead of time to see if you need to get a different shade. Eyes – Apply light beige eye shadow (NOT dark tan or brown) all over lid and up to eyebrow. Apply dark brown eye shadow in crease. Apply black or brown eyeliner both above and below the eye from extended corner of eye out BEYOND the corner of the eye. Lines should extend beyond outside corner and should not meet. Apply heavy black mascara to both upper and lower lashes. Lips – Use a deep mauve or burgundy lipstick (no pinks or oranges). Cheeks – Use a deep mauve blush. Please do not use pink, orange, or brown blush.

All Ballet students are required to wear hair in a bun and hair pieces as specified by each teacher. All wispies should be under control with hair gel and hair spray. Buns should be located mid-head – not high on the top of the head. To find the correct height of the ponytail, draw an imaginary line with your finger from the ear lobe up through the top of the ear and continue it to the middle of the head. See the Bun Tutorial sheet on Page 6 of this packet. For Open Division classes, please see the class instructor for hair requirements.

OTHER RECITAL APPAREL INFORMATION: No underpants may be worn under costumes. They show on stage. No jewelry on stage, with the exception of stud earrings. Arrive in Costume and please have hair and make-up

completed. All performance shoes must be clean and neat with no holes.

For the Ballet performers and Children’s Division Recital, shoes must be the leather or canvas ballet slippers, not the satin bedtime slippers. They must be PINK for girls and BLACK for boys. Pointe shoes must be in good condition and properly fitted by BBW.

Tap and jazz shoes must be black and in good condition. All other shoes must be okay’d by instructors

Label everything! Make sure your child’s name is on everything (tights, costume, shoes, bag). LDTA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

At LDTA we try to choose costumes that are age appropriate, dance appropriate, and reasonably priced. If you have

costumes are ordered. LDTA will try to accommodate your concerns. We cannot change costumes after they have been

ordered. Each student will be billed through LDTA for their costume costs, unless other arrangements for costumes are

Ballet Recital Costume FOR LEVELS A-C ONLY

The Ballet costume is a light blue dance dress (spaghetti strap leotard with attached skirt). (If you have the copen

blue or pansy purple dresses from past recitals, you may wear them again this year.) Remember, after the performance,

all students may wear their dance dress & pink tights to all ballet classes as a substitute for their normal dress code of

black leotard & pink tights.
