Writing Reading Number Learning Intention I am learning to describe and share my experiences, expressing what they made me think about and how they made me feel.

Creative writing This is your opportunity to write about your experience and what life has been like in lockdown and during the coronavirus.

This could be a personal experience, a poem, or a creative story. All of you will have had a unique experience that is only yours, and only you can capture in words. Success Criteria I have described my personal experience clearly. I have included thoughts and feelings about my experience. I have tried to make my writing interesting though my use of language. I have punctuated my sentences accurately. Extension You can enter your writing into a competition!! You have until midnight on Friday the 17th of July to submit your piece of writing. Your entry should be 700 words or under and you should submit in your age category. Your work will then be read by a published author, who will then pick out the five best entries from your age group. These entries will then be included in a book published by John Catt Educational called ‘Generation Lockdown Writes. There will also be a range of other prizes for the winning entries, and a special celebratory book launch where you will have the opportunity to meet the authors. https://generationlockdown.co.uk

Learning Intention I am learning how to write a diary entry. 1)Write a diary entry for one of the characters in your book. You need to step inside that character and think and act as they would. For example, think about the sort of scrapes they might get themselves into, or what they might enjoy doing with their friends or family. Success Criteria I can follow the presentation features of a diary, e.g. Dear Diary The events are in chronological order. My writing is in an informal style and has a personal tone. I can use a variety of tenses as appropriate, e.g. PAST to explain what has happened PRESENT to describe how I am feeling now FUTURE to predict what will happen I have used correct punctuation for all my sentences. 2)Draw a picture of your favourite part of the book. Write what is happening in the picture and say why you chose this bit of the book. 3)Find new vocabulary (words) that you do not really know the meaning of and write them in your book with the meaning next to them. Use a dictionary to find out the definition of the words. Learning Intention I am learning to respond to literal and evaluative questions. Please check in on your Teams account if you have not already. Please share one piece of work that you have completed this week. If you have any questions about high school could you please share them on Teams. We will check with the schools and get back to you.

MyWOW is an online page which enables and supports each P7 pupil to reflect on their strengths and achievements and share this profile with their new teachers at High School. This resource has been co-constructed with Skills Development Scotland, and the result of collaboration with pupils and staff in pilot schools. It was trialled this year in Leith and Liberton schools and received positive feedback. The Staff, Pupil and Parent Guides (attached) ensure that setting up and completing tasks are straightforward and online friendly.

www.myworldofwork.co.uk/ican Attached in a separate page is a detailed document explaining set up and the tasks to be completed.

We love to see what you’ve been up to so remember to let us know. If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected]
