We acknowledge that you are the Creator and we are your creatures. Too often we live as if you didnt exist or have any claim upon us. We are people of unclean lips and dwell among people with unclean lips. We say and do things that are hurtful and not well thought out. We leave things unsaid and undone, things that could have brought joy, comfort, or encouragement to someone. Yet we have seen you in your majesty and you call us your children. May you experience our worship as an expression of our love for you. In Jesusname, amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.’” Isaiah 6:6 Leader: Friends, believe the good news. People: May we walk in that freedom. Amen! July 12, 2020 Welcome! We are here because we believe Jesus Christ is the only hope for true change. He is the only genuine hope for freedom from whatever enslaves us; healing from the many actions that harm us; deliverance from shame that belittles us; rescue from the evil that violates us. As well, we believe that only through Jesus Christ will the hopes hidden in our deepest desires truly be satisfied. So the main reason our church exists is so the presence of Jesus Christ and the way of Jesus Christ may be experienced in the lives of normal anxious, wounded, cautious, ‘looking for more’ people like you and me. So again, welcome; we’re glad you’re here. Being an “Expectant” Christian Community. One important component in Christian community is expecting God to be at work in our brothers and sisters. “A community of faith flourishes when we view each other with this expectancy, wondering what God will do today in this one, in that one. When we are in a community with those Christ loves and redeems, we are constantly finding out new things about them. They are new persons each morning, endless in their possibilities. We explore the fascinating depths of their friendship, share the secrets of their quest. It is impossible to be bored in such a community, impossible to feel alienated among such people.” (Eugene Peterson, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, we worship and praise you for your loving-kindness toward us. We acknowledge that you are the Creator and we are your creatures. Too often we live as if you didn’t exist or have any claim upon us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON “Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, ‘See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.’” Isaiah 6:6

July 12, 2020 Welcome! We are here because we believe Jesus Christ is the only hope for true change. Revelation Song

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty; Who was and is and is to come. With all creation I sing, "Praise to the King of kings! You are my ev'rything, And I will adore You."

Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain. Holy, holy is He. Sing a new song to Him Who sits on heaven's mercy seat.

Clothed in rainbows of living color; flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder. Blessing and honor, strength and glory and power be to You the only wise King.

Filled with wonder; awestruck wonder at the mention of Your name! Jesus Your name is power, breath and living water. Such a marv'lous mystery, yeah!

SONG OF ILLUMINATION *Speak, O Lord

Speak, O Lord, as we come to You to receive the food of Your holy word. Take Your truth, plant it deep in us. Shape and fashion us in Your likeness.

That the light of Christ might be seen today in our acts of love and our deeds of faith. Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us all Your purposes for Your glory.

SERMON LESSON Luke 16:19-31 Doug Ashley

SERMON “The Man with No Name”

*All the People Said Amen

Refrain: And all the people said, “Amen". Whoa! And all the people said, "Amen"! Give thanks to the Lord, for His love never ends. And all the people said, "Amen"!

You are not alone if you are lonely. When you feel afraid, you're not the only. We are all the same; in need of mercy. To be forgiven, and be free. It's all you got to lean on, but thank God it's all you need. [Refrain]

If you're rich or poor, well it don't matter. Weak or strong, you know love is what we're after. We're all broken, but we're all in this together. God knows we stumble and fall. And He so loved the world, He sent His son to save us all.

Blessed are the poor in spirit who are torn apart. Blessed are the persecuted and the pure in heart. Blessed are the people hungry for another start, For theirs is the kingdom the kingdom of God. [Refrain]

And all the people said, "Amen".
