¿No estoy yo aquí? ¿No soy tu Madre?
¿No estás bajo mi sombra?

DIOCESAN of LEXINGTON ANNUAL APPEAL
“If we are to share our lives with others and generously give of ourselves, we also have to realize that every person is worthy of our giving. Not for their physical appearance, their abilities, their language, their way of thinking, or for any satisfaction that we might receive, but rather because they are God’s handiwork, his creation….Every human being is the object of God’s infinite tenderness, and he himself is present in their lives. Jesus offered his precious blood on the cross for that person. Appearances notwithstanding, every person is immensely holy and deserves our love. Consequently, if I can help at least one person to have a better life, that already justifies the offering of my life. It is a wonderful thing to be God’s faithful people….” (274, Joy of the Gospel).
These words of the Holy Father challenge us to be generous. As the Annual Appeal’s Response Sunday approaches, please prayerfully reflect on your contribution with the Good News of Salvation to reach those people in our Diocese who are most in need of God’ healing touch.
Response Weekend at Saint Andrew is May 6-7.

THIRD SUNDAY of EASTER WEEK of APRIL 30 - MAY 6, 2017 4
BENEDICTUS BOOKS & GIFTS TO CLOSE
Benedictus Books & Gifts, an apostolate of the Diocese of Lexington, will close its doors June 30 at the conclusion of its lease at its Southland Drive location in Lexington.
Bishop John Stowe, O.F.M. Conv., made the announcement on April 18:
“Benedictus Books & Gifts has provided religious books, gifts and other goods in an attractive and welcoming environment. Unfortunately, it has never been financially self-sustaining, despite the good intentions to be able to support priests’ retirement and our Catholic schools. With the many needs of the diocese, the store is not something the diocese can continue to support, and the conclusion of the shop’s lease is an opportune time to terminate operations. I and many customers are truly grateful to those who have worked hard for the Benedictus apostolate.”

DID YOU KNOW ABOUT
THE SERVICE COMMITTEE
April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. Kentucky is a mandatory reporting state.
So if you suspect a child is being neglected or abused call 1-800-544-2022 or 1-800-422-4453 to make a report.
It could save a child’s life.
COMMITTEE IS CHANGING ITS NAME!
The Peer Ministry Committee will be called the Social Event Committee in the future.
This committee was established in the mid-nineties as a committee that coordinated events for all age groups in the parish, from various grades of youth groups, to "Over-Fifties." However, over time, each peer group has evolved into it's own committee or group and is no longer coordinated by peer ministry. During the past several years peer ministry has mostly coordinated family events or adult only events, such as the pot lucks, the progressive dinner, the pool party, the parish picnic, the Halloween Party, and the latest new event, a coats and cocktail charity event. Therefore a name change, which more correctly reflects the function of the committee seemed to be needed.
If you have ideas for our committee or would be interested in being part of our committee, please contact any of the members. They are Tony and Julie Patterson, Pat Grant, Joan Huffman, Barbara Chiericozzi, Dawn Braasch, and Mary Kay Mayo.
PROGRESSIVE DINNER July 22
The Social Event Committee is making plans for this year's Progressive Dinner on July 22nd. Please consider providing your house to host either the appetizer or dessert course for the evening. Besides the house, you would be asked to provide non-alcoholic drinks, and disposable tableware (plates, napkins, cups, cutlery) - no food! We average about 40-50 attendees. Adults only.
Contact any of the committee members if you have questions or would like to provide your house - Tony and Julie Patterson, Joan Huffman, Pat Grant, Barbara Chiericozzi, Dawn Braasch, Mary Kay Mayo.
TODAY’S HARVEST Support Local Farms
Today’s Harvest is a local company helping local farmers bring local produce to local people. For six months (25 weeks), fresh produce can be delivered to your home, business, or church. Each delivery (done weekly - May through October) will consist of approximately a half bushel of fresh seasonal produce from local farms.
For every person from Saint Andrew who signs up by April 1, 2017, Todays’ Harvest will donate $50.00 to our parish.
To order, call Tim Joyce at 859-265-1590.
