DESCRIPTION

The RFL Loopback Test System (Figure 1) 1s a diag­nostic tool for isolating faults in two-wire or four-wire communication systems containing up to 1,000 re• mote terminals A Master Control Unit (Figure 1 a) is located at the central terminal and one Remote Unit (Figure 1 b) is installed at each remote terminal.

The Loopback Test System performs its test func­tions by sending out test signals from the Master Control Unit to the Remote Unit under test and com-

manding that unit 10 return or ··1oop back" the test signal. It can also command the Remote Unit to gen­erate a test tone of known frequency and amplitude and transmit the tone to the Master Control Unit.

By following the operating procedures outlined In this sheet, an operator can evaluate the quality of communcation links, or isolate faults due to the commun1cat1on line. a remote modem. or a remote terminal.
