Normally, the Loquacious does not releasean August newsletter. However, due tothe amazing activity we witnessed andparticipated in this month, we felt theneed to be loquacious about .

    Orientation and Edmodo

he Loquacious Librarians love to collaborate.

Out of the 45 classes that used the media

    center, we collaborated with

    38 of them. Freshman

    Academy social studies

teachers brought classes induring the first week of

    school for orientation.

    Because of orientation,

Playaways are already flying off the shelf like

hotcakes! This week, we worked with some socialstudies classes on using Edmodo. Classes also

received instruction on Animoto or Prezi depending

    on the teachers preference.

While that was going on, classes came (thank you

McDowell, Zurenda and Lindler ) to check out

books to read, and Mrs. Tighe worked withJamisons students on how to use DISCUS andJSTOR.

Contact us and let us help you!

    Edmodo

We worked with the Freshman Academy social

studies teachers on how to use Edmodo and set up

groups. Susan popped to Mrs. Los room for a one-

on-one session on getting into this site. Need help

with Edmodo? Feel free to talk to Irene and Susan. We can also be co-teachers for your classes. Stop

    in for more details.

    September 18th

is 7Reads Day here at SHS.

Kathy Patrick, the author of The Pulpwood

    Queens Tiara-Wearing, Book-Sharing Guide

to Life, and C. J. Omololu, the author of Dirty

Little Secrets, will be talking to students about

their books. We are very excited to be hostingthese writers.

    Principals Reading Honor Roll

ncourage students to join the PrincipalsReading Honor Roll. A student simply

gives us his name, and we create a reading log

for him. The student can read a book from

ANYWHERE (it doesnt have to be from ourcollection). Once the student finishes the book,

he or she comes in and tells us the name of the

book and the author. We record the book in thelog. Students who read thirty books by the end

of April receive a certificate from the principal.

Also, the library staff randomly draws names of

    active readers and gives prizes.

You can catch us in reality anytime between

7:00 and 3:30. Remember students can come
