How Strong Is Your Faith
How strong is your faith?
Do you ever have doubts? If so,
then listen to what Jesus says:
“I am the way, and the truth, and
the life.” That is one of the most
faith strengthening passages in the New Testament. Of all the
recognized religions of the world, no one has dared to make such
a claim. The best that Moslems can say for Mohammed is that,
“there is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet.”
Buddhists make the claim that “Buddha was neither a prophet
nor a messiah. He was no supernatural being sent by God.
He was a man, though considered morally and spiritually more
advanced than his contemporaries.”
Long before our faith was called Christian, it was known as
“the way.” Since Jesus claimed to be “the way,” then, such a
religious label seemed appropriate. And when Jesus claimed,
“I am the way,” he was not merely pointing the way his followers
should go, but he was insisting that he was the only route to
salvation as well as to his Father in heaven.
People everywhere continue to seek a way. Unfortunately many
of those people do not believe that the Christian Church knows the
way to salvation and God. Could it be that part of their problem is
that they fail to see in us a changed and challenging way of life?
If you truly believe that Jesus is the way to salvation and God, then
it is important that you live an exemplary life; not perfect by any
means as that is impossible for us to accomplish, but that you try to
follow the example and teachings of Jesus.
Unless we live our faith, anything we may say in an effort to lead
others to Christ will be seen as nothing more than empty words.
This is why I say we must become more exemplary of the faith we
claim to believe. So I ask you, how strong is your faith? Amen.
Pastor Bruce

LORD OF LIFE COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES March 12th, 2017
Minutes to be approved at the next Council Meeting
Present: Betty Woodden, Virginia Conlee, Lorraine Neumiller,
Laurie Lepel, Donita Nelson, Carla Jakeway, Vicky Radke-Williams,
Roger Soucy, Joe Hauge
Congregation Members Present: Janyce Luebke, Sara Brainard
Absent: Pastor Bruce Baum
Meeting called to order by President Betty Woodden at 11:00 am.
Treasurer’s Report: Joe Hauge submitted the financial report for
February 2017. Due to a trend in decreased giving, Virginia inquired if
the church was in a good financial state. Joe stated that even with
decreased giving, he had no concerns. The financial report was reviewed
and approved following a motion by Virginia and a second by Donita.
Secretary’s Report: The minutes for the January council meeting
were reviewed and approved following a motion by Vicky and a second
by Carla.
Pastor’s Report: None given.
President’s Report: None given.
Committee Reports
Altar Guild: None given.
Fellowship: A bowling outing at Robbinsdale Lanes was held on
the afternoon of Sunday, January 29th. The annual Valentine’s Day
Dinner was held on February 12th. Picnic & Play at the Black Hills
Playhouse is scheduled for Saturday, July 29th. “Grease” is the
scheduled play. Tickets go on sale April 1st. Carl Hellekson will be
providing the food for the picnic again this year. Other upcoming events
are Muffins & Flowers for Mother’s Day on May 14th and Donuts for Dads
on Father’s Day, June 18th, followed by the annual bike ride and picnic at
Canyon Lake Park. A committee meeting will be scheduled in the near
future.
5
Worship/Music: No report at this time.
Education/Youth: There are currently 2 and possibly 1 other to
receive first communion this year. Also, there is one student being
confirmed this year.
Property: New light bulbs were installed in the Fellowship Hall.
Donita reported that Steve was doing some patchwork around the
church. Donita suggested that the church start to receive bids from local
painting companies to paint the walls and ceiling or just the ceiling in the
Sanctuary. This would be a project for sometime this summer.
Old Business: No update on old business.
New Business: Carla reported that the Family Thrift Center receipts
were turned in to the FTC office and a check has not yet been received.
Use of the funds is to be determined. Betty said the freewill donations
will be used to purchase a new coffee maker for the kitchen. Janyce
Luebke reported that there are 2 children interested in going to camp this
summer at Outlaw Ranch. Cost per child for 5 days is $500.00 if paid by
April 15th. The cost rises to $550.00 after April 15th. The child’s family is
to cover the initial $125.00 at the time of registration. Most of the
difference will be made up by special fund-raising events. A motion was
made by Donita for the Wednesday Lenten offerings to be used towards
covering the difference. The motion was seconded by Vicky and was
passed unanimously. Sara Brainard suggested changing the way the
offering envelopes are manufactured for 2018. For members still using
the envelopes, Sara suggested providing smaller quantities of envelopes,
imprinted with only the member number. Members can order additional
envelopes if needed. The blank offering envelopes will be moved to next
to the guest book for convenience.
The next scheduled council meeting will be held Sunday, May 14th,
immediately following the service.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 am.
Respectfully submitted by:
Roger Soucy, Secretary

EASTER Easter is a HOLY DAY,
That is when Jesus led the way, From death and the grave, HE DID RISE!
With faith and belief, we, can share the PRIZE!
HIS LIFE on earth, also had many temptations, But, HIS faith brought us some revelations!
When we are tempted or our troubles get us down, He is there beside us, to help us reach the Crown!
There are also Easter bunnies, baskets, eggs and candy, For the children, this is quite dandy!
It helps them to celebrate, in their own way, The search for treats can bring them JOY also, on Easter Day!
We celebrate Easter every year, It helps to keep the message clear!
JESUS DIED ON THE CROSS FOR EVERYONES SINS, AND HE IS WAITING IN HEAVEN TO WELCOME ALL BELIEVERS IN!
