ABOUT BRITWEEK

BritWeek is a non-profit organization, started in Los Angeles in 2007 by Nigel Lythgoe and the then Consul General Bob Peirce, to highlight the creative fusion

between the United Kingdom and the US.

Every spring BritWeek hosts a program of events that promotes British creativity, innovation and excellence across multiple categories including, film & television, music, art, fashion, design, retail, sport, philanthropy, business, and more. Along with BritWeek Los Angeles, BritWeek has launched programs in Orange County,

San Francisco, and Miami.

BritWeek's philanthropic contributions have included fundraising for Malaria No More, Save the Children, LA’s BEST, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Big Brothers

Big Sisters, and programs promoting children’s sports, children's literacy and international professional internships.

RED CARPET LAUNCH

BritWeek’s exciting Red Carpet Launch party kicks off the BritWeek Los Angeles program and attracts a number of celebrities, VIPs, politicians and dignitaries. The red carpet ensures photos of the stars are blasted all around the globe and hitting computers and newsstands within hours.

The event is held at a private residence in Hancock Park for 350+ invitation-only VIP guests and celebrities, as well as members of the press.

This event receives million of media impressions.

BritWeek’s annual charity reception is a lively and prestigious event attended by 500 leaders in business, culture, politics, and media, as well as influential British talent.

This event also has a star-studded red carpet and receives significant press coverage.

Celebrities and VIPs are invited to attend an exclusive VIP reception before the main event.

BritWeek supports a different charity every year. Previous partners have included LA Children’s Hospital, LA’s BEST, Malaria No More, and others.

The BritWeek Christopher Guy Design Icon Award Reception celebrates British design across interior design, fashion, technology, engineering, and more, and honors an icon in British design.

In 2013, we honored Director of Design for Jaguar, Ian Callum, and also showcased the fashion designs of Dita Von Teese with the designer herself present.

Now in its second year, Downtown Santa Monica & BritWeek will once again take over 3 blocks on the Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Place on May 3 & 4 to host a two-day festival celebrating everything British.

In 2013, this event attracted 120,000+ people, and engaged the community, visitors, and one of the largest British ex-pat communities on the West Coast!

Brands involved in 2013 included Walkers Shortbread, Madame Tussauds, Jaguar, Boots, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, and more!

BRITWEEK SANTA MONICA FESTIVAL

The 2014 festival will celebrate 450 years of William Shakespeare, with exciting events celebrating the life and work of this famous British playwright.

This special event will also once again feature exciting displays and interactive elements all along the Third Street Promenade, as well as theatre, comedy, musical, and dance performances.

The Third Street Promenade exposes brands and talent to thousands of individuals, including both a strong visitor market and local community.
