151 Brass souvenir egg timer from the Canadian Pacific liner SS. Empress of Canada, built/ 55

completed in 1922 by Fairford Shipping at Goven, Scotland. 21,517 tons. Sunk of the coast

of Africa, 13th March 1943 by an Italian submarine (Leonardo Da Vinci), whilst carrying

Italian prisoners of war. Of the approx. 1800 people on board 393 perished.

Working Instructions, updated 1957. This railway was under the control of the War Dept. from

1940 to 1960 for the storage of ammunition and these instructions refer to this period.

154 Approx. 100 Edmundson card tickets. A good number of these are issues from various 28

Steam and period Diesel specials dating from the 1960/70s. Also some early examples

from preserved railways.

155 SULZER Bros (London) official booklet 1961 on type 4 (D11 series) and headed letter to a 32

Bristol Bath Road driver stating they are forbidden by BR to provide operating manuals to

anyone other than the appropriate railway authority.

amazing collection and a must for any "Knotty" fans.

The next 9 lots come from collection of Mr. W. N. Pellow who had more than 50 years

service on the GWR. His roles included Assistant Locomotive, Carriage & Wagon Engineer at

Wolverhampton, Assistant to the Locomotive Running Superintendent and Outdoor Assistant

to the C.M.E. (Collett); Divisional Carriage & Wagon Superintendent at Bristol, then Old Oak

Common. Latterly Chief of Motive Power on Western Region. When he retired he was

described as being one of the "big three" on the Western Region heading a staff of 24,000

Drivers, Fireman, Fitters, Mechanics and other Maintenance Men.
