Prep

Happy week 2 gorgeous Preps!

I hope you had a lovely first week of Term 4. Last week, Li laoshi completed a beautiful

drawing of a cat and shared it with my friends. Everyone loved it! I just found that it was so

different between drawing a human face and an animal face. It looks like we have more

facial expressions and more details. Let’s explore the ways to describe our face parts by

saying Chinese words. And We are going to start by pointing at your ears, eyebrows, eyes,

nose and mouth.

Step 1: Listen to this face song, and learn to pronounce each face part using your fingers

parts because of his personality.

Year 5 Unit: My school and quality education

Hello amazing Year 5s,

There are many G5 learners who have uploaded their work with excellent quality.

Some students made videos in Chinese to talk about their holidays (not a short one

with few sentences, 1-2 proper paragraphs all in Chinese!); some students wrote

about their holidays and family activities with lots of complex sentences in Chinese;

some students made PowerPoint Presentations and “spoke” about traditional games

in their own culture. I learnt a lot of traditional Indian and Sri Lanka games as I read

best and that is leading you to achieve success.

This week we will start our new unit and learn how to introduce school settings and

learning environments with complex sentence structures in Chinese. You will explore

schools in China and other countries that you are interested in. You will experience

an inquiry study and research the similarities and differences in schools around the

world and show your preferences and opinions about what quality education is.

This week we will start our new unit and learn how to plan a trip to a city in Chinese.

Even though we are still in lockdown, I have a strong faith that the world will get back

to normal soon. At that time we will be able to travel around, visit our families in

different parts of the world and experience different cultures and views. During the

last three terms, we learnt about different topics in Chinese, such as: shopping, cloth

and footwear, exploring cities, and lots of everyday language. This term we will

combine the previous learning and demonstrate an ability to develop a

comprehensive travel plan for a trip in Chinese.
