Lottery for Cruising Dock Space at Wigwam Inn and Alexandra Island Sent to the entire membership on Wednesday, May 13, 2020

RVYC Members: We know this is a difficult time for our community, and members and their families are really looking forward to resuming some of their spring and summer activities on the water. With that in mind, the Club has come up with a plan to allow a limited number of vessels at the two outstations - Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn - which are not connected to other communities. The other RVYC outstations will remain closed to members at this point. We have prepared a lottery draw, similar to what the Club does for the Scott Point cabins each year. This lottery will be for dock space at Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn. Only members chosen through the lottery will be permitted to dock at one of the outstations. Each outstation will have its own draw and will be closed when the dock space at each is full. The plan to open these two stations recognizes the need to comply with the Provincial health orders while permitting the safe and controlled use of our facilities. This lottery system, and the access to Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn outstations is subject to change as orders from the Province and City are updated.

By entering the lottery, you consent to having your boat name included in a list of winners to be posted on the Club’s website. Only members on this list will be permitted to dock at the allocated outstation for the specific time period. Compliance with the rules set out for the winners of the spaces is expected, and anyone in violation of those rules will be considered for discipline under Bylaw 52. You can enter both the Wigwam Inn and Alexandra Island lottery. However, if you are successful in one, you will be removed from the other. If you are interested in visiting Wigwam Inn in May, please click the link below. If you are interested in visiting Alexandra Island in May, please click the appropriate link below. ONE ENTRY PER MEMBERSHIP PLEASE; duplicates will be deleted If you are successful in receiving a space in the lottery, you will be unable to enter again for another 4 weeks. As spaces are limited, this will provide fair access to our outstations.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

The number of spaces will vary during each lottery, the number of members permitted to use the outstations will on the LOA of each member's boat. The number of vessels will depend on the size of the winning vessels and 12 feet between each vessel. Once the dock space is taken up, the lottery will be closed for each outstation. Rafting of vessels will not be permitted and each boat will be limited to 6 members on each vessel. We recommend that crew members are those from your household. Currently, the lottery is for dock space only, and only available at Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn docks. As the public health situation changes, we hope to make other stations available through this lottery system. Until further notice, outstations access is available through the lottery system only.

No facilities, including bathrooms/outhouses, pavilions or the Inn are available. Members must stay aboard their vessel and the docks as the common areas remain out of bounds due to restrictions in number of people gathering.

WHAT ABOUT HIKING AT EITHER LOCATION? Members are required to adhere to all recommendations from the health authorities, including and especially social distancing, when they are off their vessel. WHAT ABOUT DOGS? Dogs are permitted on your vessel and can be taken ashore for walks. However, please ensure that you are following proper social distancing while ashore. You can arrive after 1 pm on the first day of your reservation and you must depart the station no later than noon on the departure date. If you had a winning reservation and do not arrive at all, your date cannot be traded for a future one and you will remain ineligible for the next draw. Active, Intermediate, Post-Secondary, Special, Life, and Honorary Life members (collectively, “eligible members”) can enter the "lottery". These members must be in attendance aboard a vessel under their control. The "lottery" for the range of dates below is now open and closes at 1600 hrs (4 pm) Thursday, May 14 after which the lottery will take place. ONLY winners of the lottery will be contacted by email prior to 6 pm that same day. A list of the winning vessels will be posted on the website pages for the applicable stations.

_________________________________________________ COVID-19 Update: May 8 Message from the Commodore and General Manager Sent on Friday, May 8, 2020 to the entire membership

RVYC Members, The warm weather is upon us and we have received many comments about the potential of opening our facilities and boating again. While we are not yet done with the COVID-19 restrictions, government health authorities are moving in the direction of relaxing some of the restrictions. First, the Executive Committee (EC) and the Management team at the Club, would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each of you for the sacrifices you and your families have made in supporting our club during these unique times. Complying with the social distancing, travel restrictions, and stay-at-home requirements has not been easy. Your commitment to bringing our club, members and staff, through this pandemic safely has been, and continues to be, recognized and appreciated. Thank you! This week the provincial government began the process of a phased relaxation of COVID-19-imposed restrictions. The Management team and the EC are reviewing these announcements with a view to how and when we can begin to open up our facilities and boating activities yet ensuring that we are in compliance with all government orders.

Page 5: Lottery for Cruising Dock Space at Wigwam Inn and ... · Currently, the lottery is for dock space only, and only available at Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn docks. As the public

The re-opening of our Clubhouse, marinas, and offshore stations will be in a careful deliberate manner to ensure everyone’s safety. We understand the membership’s desire to open the doors and get out there on the water. However, for the time being, we need to remain patient and comply with all of the current health restrictions. Particularly, those relating to the continued closure of our Clubhouse, our outstations, and the limitations on our food and beverage services. Our Management team, led by our general manager, Jeff Merrin, is hard at work reviewing the most recent government announcements. Over the next week, we will be providing you with updates on what might be possible in terms of easing the restrictions around our offshore stations. Currently, we are in continual discussions with other BC yacht clubs, the Canadian Coast Guard, and health authorities to ensure we can act quickly when restrictions are eased. Rest assured, management and the EC, are focused on providing the greatest access to our club and facilities as soon as we can, while at the same time ensuring that everyone is safe and that we as a club continue to be community leaders in the battle against COVID-19. For our senior members and those with pre-existing medical conditions please stay safe by following the guidelines set out by the health authorities to manage risk and please let us know how we can help you in any way get through these challenging times. Thanks to each of you for your continuing sacrifices, we look forward to meeting you at the Clubhouse and on the docks as soon as possible. David Doig, Commodore Jeff Merrin, General Manager

An update from the Commodore Sent on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 to entire membership

Fellow RVYC Members The RVYC spirit of friendship and camaraderie that has been in our blood since 1903 is clearly alive today. The fellowship and compassion I’ve witnessed over the past weeks have made me proud to be a Royal Vanner! On behalf of the Executive Committee (EC) of our club, a hearty thank you to each of you for pulling together in these challenging times. While I intend to do my best to keep you up to date with developments at our Club, I encourage you to follow our regular e-breeze and Seabreeze announcements. Check out the new reinvigorated Member's RVYC Facebook page - thanks to VC Wealick and Jeremy Smith for their creativity. It’s a Members only Facebook page that will help us keep connected! The Club’s takeout food services has been an overwhelming success. If you haven’t yet ordered a meal - check it out. Where else can you find a 30% discount on fine wines or beer with a delivery service. Other suggestions? Let us know. In terms of other Club activities, we still await the go ahead from the federal and provincial health authorities before we are able to open our offshore stations. I feel your pain. I look forward to getting out and racing and cruising again as well. We are monitoring this closely and we will reopen these at the first opportunity. Governance changes continue to progress. The EC just recently voted to decrease the size of the EC from 19 to 15 with some changes in positions. The membership will vote on the proposed by-law changes to implement these changes at a special general meeting. But first there will be town hall meetings (in person or virtually or both) to provide the membership with details. And finally, as you have already heard we have a new General Manager - Jeff Merrin, who started on April 13, 2020. The EC and management are working on a plan to create a “virtual yacht club” to keep members connected and engaged. I’ve asked VC Peter Wealick to chair this initiative. Peter, along with Jeremy Smith, are in the process of building a

Page 7: Lottery for Cruising Dock Space at Wigwam Inn and ... · Currently, the lottery is for dock space only, and only available at Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn docks. As the public

team along with the able assistance of Club management. If you have ideas or would like to contribute, drop Peter an email at [email protected]. The details of this plan will be rolling out very soon. At this point I can share with you the three key components of this initiative: 1) a re-connection with our members through an enhanced social media presence including - Facebook, Instagram, our website as well as the Seabreeze and e-breeze; 2) some financial help for members that truly need some extra help; 3) planning for our reopening. The EC will be discussing the details at our next meeting on Tuesday the 21st of April. Stay tuned! Club Finances:

As I’ve previously stated, Winston Cummins, Honorary Treasurer, and the Finance Committee, along with our very competent controller Vivian Waung have been reviewing our finances with an eye to the Club's financial outlook. Let me say at the outset that our Club is in a healthy financial situation. The Club we have all worked hard to build will continue long into the future. But, like in the rest of the country, this pandemic will have its impact on our Club. The EC, the Finance Committee and our management team have been working together, canvassing different strategies to manage our Club’s finances. Speaking frankly, the Club has several revenue streams including dues, food and beverage, moorage and sailing programs. These sources fund a total operating expense structure in excess of $13 million dollars. In order to adapt RVYC’s operations during the closure, the Club has made adjustments to staffing. Unfortunately, we have had to lay off most of the hourly food and beverage employees and a few administration staff, but have retained all of the salaried staff and a few front-line and kitchen staff to support our successful takeout and delivery service. We are constantly reviewing and accessing the available government programs to help our current and laid off staff. We have also instituted other cost containment measures such as eliminating certain daily services and reducing other operating expenses to a minimum. Despite these changes there are still many overhead and fixed costs that need to be funded in order to prevent the Club drawing extensively into existing Club cash

Page 8: Lottery for Cruising Dock Space at Wigwam Inn and ... · Currently, the lottery is for dock space only, and only available at Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn docks. As the public

reserves. These reserves are necessary to help fund the repair and replacement of the Club’s asset base that we so enjoy all year round - it is therefore important that we continue to charge dues. However we do understand that some have suffered financial hardship during these difficult times and therefore the Club will be supporting affected members through a payment deferral program. If you have suffered personal financial hardship due to COVID-19 and cannot make payments to the club at this time please contact Vivian Waung at [email protected]. We are very fortunate to be an asset rich club. This cuts two ways - our offshore stations, two home port marinas and our Jericho clubhouse continue to need to be maintained so that when we are back to full operations we can all enjoy the assets that make our Club the great place we’ve built over the past 117 years. To ensure that we are ready to go when we reopen, we have been engaging our maintenance crews in getting the work done we never had time to get to. The financial impact of COVID-19 is affecting almost everyone and we are not immune. Through the revenue retention and cost management initiatives we forecast there to be a relatively moderate impact to the overall Club finances assuming we return to normal operations before the fall. Some additional thoughts: This is not the first challenge our Club has faced, nor likely the last. We stand on the shoulders of Club members before us that had the courage and foresight to create the great Club that we enjoy today. We have a world class yacht club in a world class city and country! We need to keep this legacy safe for our kids and grandkids. As Commodore, I have had the good fortune to see many acts of exceptional volunteerism in our Club. Every volunteer fills me with pride. It is times like this, when we all pull together to support our friends and our Club that will become the folklore of our future generations. I’ll do my best to keep everyone fully informed. If you have a question you are welcome to drop me an email. Please be patient as I’ve got a lot on the go these days. - David Doig, Commodore

Driving in Stanley Park Featured in the April 9 e-breeze newsletter

Further to the message that went out to the membership on April 7 regarding Stanley Park restrictions, the Vancouver Parks Board has provided us with additional protocols for driving through Stanley Park. We ask that you pass on this message to any trades people who may be required to attend your vessel for essential work. Driving in the park is now the exception and not the rule, and so we are asking all drivers to adhere to the following protocols when driving through the Park during this time. This should take effect the exact time that you enter the park or past a check point:

• Put on hazard lights (or flashers) • Maintain a speed of 15 km per hour (max)

• Yield to and look out for cyclists – Stanley Park Drive is now dedicated for cyclists and pedestrians to enable social distancing

• Please stay to the left hand side of Stanley Park Drive to pass

• Do not park anywhere except for the RVYC designated location

• Obey all existing and temporary traffic symbols and signage

Should you have any questions, please check with the appropriate authorities at the check-point (without rolling down your window) or contact the RVYC Coal Harbour dock office at 604.688.4578 with any further inquiries. Everyone at RVYC, staff and members, is going above and beyond to reduce the spread of this virus in all our communities. Thank you for your cooperation and support! Craig McKeen

Practice Vigilance: Email Scams Sent on Wednesday, April 8, 2020

In the midst of these unprecedented times, we have been advised by one of our Club's industry partners that some clubs and their members have recently been the target of email scammers. RVYC has not been targeted by these email scams. The purpose of this email is to alert the membership of these scams as a precaution. These scammers are using fraudulent emails to attempt to trick club members into paying fake statement balances to incorrect bank accounts. These are being done through spoofing (when a scammer uses a fake email address to impersonate someone) and phishing (when a scammer attempts to receive personal information from someone). What can you do to avoid these scams?

• Be on the lookout. If you receive a suspicious email, please contact [email protected] so that the Club can track the situation.

• Know your contacts. The staff members who would email you regarding account balances are: Tansu Erginsav, Member Accounts ([email protected]), or Vivian Waung, Controller ([email protected]). Monthly statements will continue to be sent from [email protected].

• Be patient during membership verification. Staff are on alert and will verify your membership information to confirm your identity.

RVYC has not encountered these scammers, and using these practices above, we all can successfully avoid being deceived. Please ensure you do your part, and if you are not sure of any emails you receive, please contact the Club immediately.

The Vancouver Parks Board is permitting visitors to Stanley Park only on foot or on bicycles, with some limited access for its stakeholders to maintain their facilities. RVYC members and tradesmen will have vehicle access, provided their vehicles display the appropriate parking decal and are entering the facilities for essential purposes only. Details on the decal and passes for contractors are set out below. There will be a checkpoint at the roundabout entrance to Stanley Park to ensure each vehicle has the appropriate decal. Without the decal, members will be turned away from the park. The Vancouver Parks Board has advised that the Vancouver Police Department will be on hand at the checkpoint. The Vancouver Parks Board has requested that those permitted to enter the park do not roll down their window to talk to the officials at the checkpoint to keep you and the officials safe. We appreciate the consideration the VPB has provided to RVYC and the other stakeholders, so let’s ensure that we comply with their requests and direction. Member Decals

The appropriate decal for RVYC is the blue parking decal located on the front windshield on the left side of the vehicle. Most of you already have your decals in the appropriate place so this change in access to the marina will, thankfully, not be inconvenient. If your decal is anywhere else in your vehicle, please peel the decal from that location and place it in the correct location. We understand that the decals are hard to peel and may not stick fully to your windshield but we can provide you a replacement when you arrive at the marina. If you do not have a decal, you may walk or cycle into the park to receive one, or you may request one at the Jericho Clubhouse. Please call the marina (604.688.4578) or the Clubhouse (604.224.1344) if you have questions. We are working hard to make sure that any essential visits to your vessels are easy for you. Trades and Contractors

Page 12: Lottery for Cruising Dock Space at Wigwam Inn and ... · Currently, the lottery is for dock space only, and only available at Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn docks. As the public

Further to the current practice of trades and contractors receiving a day pass from the marina office, and only attending the marina for essential boat repair and maintenance, they will now require a Vancouver Parks Board Contractor Pass to be displayed on their dash in order to enter the park. These passes will be provided by Coal Harbour administration and are valid for one day only. If you have a contractor working on your vessel, you are asked to advise the Coal Harbour administration office of the date of the visit so that they can email a personalized Contractor Pass to the contractor. Should that contractor not have a printer, they can make arrangements with the Coal Harbour administration staff to have one printed for them. They may need to walk into the park to receive it, or you may be able to provide it to them. As with all other interactions, we remind you to take every step you can to reduce your interaction with others when exchanging documents, keys, or other items needed for the maintenance of your vessel.

Message from the Commodore

The Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and COVID-19 as of March 25, 2020

Fellow RVYC Members,

These are unprecedented times. The continuing restrictions imposed by our Health Authorities in order to stem the spread of COVID-19 have touched all of us. On behalf of the Executive Committee (EC), management and our staff thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters.

In the past ten days we have closed our Jericho Clubhouse and our Offshore Stations. These decisions were not made lightly. Any decision we make on behalf of our Club takes into consideration, first and foremost, the health and safety of our members, staff and their families. But we also need to ensure that continued success of our Club well into the future. Working together we will all come through this health crisis.

Club management and staff have been doing a great job of addressing member inquires, managing our extensive Club assets, while at the same time working on new initiatives to keep you, the membership engaged in our Club. In addition to our take-out food options at Jericho and Coal Harbour we are now also able to offer you a fine bottle

Page 13: Lottery for Cruising Dock Space at Wigwam Inn and ... · Currently, the lottery is for dock space only, and only available at Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn docks. As the public

of wine or beer with your take-out meal. Stay tuned for more new initiatives to keep you engaged.

We’ve been asked about what we are doing to look after our staff. Let me say at the outset that staff are a very important part of our RVYC family. We are taking steps to minimize the financial hardship any of our staff may experience as we move forward with the unpreventable staff layoffs. The details are being worked out in conjunction with ongoing government financial support announcements. At present, April 1 will see some of our employees laid off primarily in the Food & Beverage area. We are reviewing this on a daily basis.

The Park Board has limited parking in Stanley Park to restrict the gathering of people and enforce “social-distancing”. This has had an impact on our Coal Harbour marina. Presently, members are permitted to park in the usual reserved spaces in the lot adjacent to our marina for the purposes of maintaining their vessels. Parking should be limited to a few hours only with no overnight parking. Trades servicing vessels will need to park in “the loop” after obtaining a parking pass from the Dock Office. There is to be no trades parking in the lot. We recognize the challenge this creates for those with vessels at Coal Harbour, but given the current government direction this presently is the best compromise possible.

We are appreciative of the continued support each of you are providing to our Club by paying dues through these difficult times. This is necessary to ensure we continue to have a great Club once we are through this crisis. Despite cutting back where we can, we nevertheless still have fixed expenses primarily relating to maintaining our prized assets. While our Club is strong and financially healthy, we are also in the process of reviewing our financial projections.

After saying all of this, we clearly want to do what we can to help any member who is also feeling the financial crunch. We are here to do the best we can to help you out. If you need a hand with dues, give our Controller Vivian Waung a call and she will do her best to work out a deferral plan.

While we are all going to come through this, just as we have as done over the past 116 year history of our Club, there will undoubtedly be some new challenges that will pop up in the days and months ahead of us. Rest assured as we go forward we will continue to focus on:

1) the health and safety of our members, staff and their families;

2) continuing to offer the best services we can to keep our RVYC family up to date and engaged; and

Page 14: Lottery for Cruising Dock Space at Wigwam Inn and ... · Currently, the lottery is for dock space only, and only available at Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn docks. As the public

3) securing our Club's future through planning and preparing for whatever the future may throw at us.

Here are some frequently asked questions:

What is happening at our Club at present? During the closures we are utilizing staff to maintain the facilities and we will do our best to keep employees working on those necessary maintenance project that we never seem to have time to get to. We have a smaller number of staff answering the phones and inquiries so please be patient as we do our best to get back to you in a prompt efficient manner.

What is the status of our quarterly food minimums? The Executive Committee has decided that those minimums which were not used in the January-March 2020 quarter will be rolled over to the April-June 2020 quarter. We will revisit this issue should regular service not be available by then.

What is the status of Club dining? Unfortunately we are not able to offer dining in the Club. Instead we have created an exciting take-out service so you can still have that RVYC dining experience, just at home! The good news is we are now able to offer beer and wine with your take-out meal.

What is going on with Club programs? As you have seen most programs and events are cancelled out to the end of May. We’re not sure at this point about the future of events past that date. We are reviewing things constantly based upon government health announcements. Despite the closure and cancellations, we are fully committed to creating online programs and other interesting events so as soon as we get the green light to reopen, we will be ready to go!

The RVYC has been around since 1903. Like the rest of Canada we’ve been through all kinds of world events, some bad: wars, depressions, 9-11, as well as good ones – the Olympics, our Club's 100th anniversary, and hopefully soon, the renovation and expansion of our world class Coal Harbour marina. While the future is always uncertain, and at this unprecedented time, even more so, we will ultimately come through this and get back to a more normal life. We are reviewing the daily announcements of Federal and Provincial governments and will continue to keep you updated by email and our website.

Thanks to each of you for your patience and understanding.

Message from the Commodore and General Manager

The Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and COVID-19 as of March 23, 2020

RVYC Members: We are continuing to monitor the announcements of BC and Federal health authorities. While your health and safety are our primary concerns, we as a community leading club also need to look out for our fellow citizens. We all need to do our part to beat this significant health challenge. The need for physical distancing continues to be essential, particularly with the Prime Minister’s announcement today that we should “stay at home to slow the spread of COVID-19.” All non-essential travel should be cancelled or postponed according to the direction from Canada’s chief public health officer. The Islands Trust Council has officially asked everyone to stay home and avoid discretionary travel to and from the islands. In particular, they have said, “people visiting island properties from private boats are encouraged to return to their primary residences to reduce the need for medical evacuations”. Given the current situation, it is necessary for the health and safety of our members, staff and neighbours, that we close our Offshore Stations until further notice starting today. There will be no power or water available (boats moored pursuant to winter moorage agreements and two boats self quarantined are exempt). We are reviewing these decisions on a regular basis and will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. If you are at one of the Offshore Stations, please heed the words of the Prime Minister to “come home and stay home” for the sake of your health and that of our neighbours. As Canadians and Royal Van’ers we need to do the right thing for all Canadians and follow the directions of our public health authorities. Working together we will beat COVID-19 and be out on the water soon with friends and family. But for the time being your cooperation with these restrictions is essential for everyone's health. The Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and COVID-19 as of March 18, 2020

RVYC Members and Staff,

Ensuring the health and safety of our members and staff is our top priority right now. With the continuing spread of COVID-19 cases in British Columbia and Canada, it is essential to follow the direction of the Federal government (www.canada.ca) and Provincial government, as well as the BC Center for Disease Control (www.bccdc.ca). Yesterday, BC joined other provinces in declaring a public health emergency. We encourage our members and staff to follow these daily announcements.

Please note:

If you have been outside of Canada, you are requested by the Federal Government to self-isolate for 14 days. Please do not attend the Club in any capacity – including going to your vessel – within that time period.

If you are feeling ill in any way, even if it is clearly unrelated to COVID-19, we ask that you do not attend the Club in any capacity – you are at greater risk of infection when your immune system is down.

These requests are for the safety of members and staff alike.

At our Club, as of today, we are undertaking additional measures designed to protect our members, staff and their families. These include:

1) Effective today (March 18, 2020) we are closing the Jericho Clubhouse which includes all food and beverage service aside from take-out only food service through the Star and Dragon restaurant (additional detail to follow below);

Page 17: Lottery for Cruising Dock Space at Wigwam Inn and ... · Currently, the lottery is for dock space only, and only available at Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn docks. As the public

2) All sailing programs and Clubhouse events scheduled during the next 60 days are postponed (see the list set out below of postponed events).

We are closely monitoring information from the official health organizations (see above) and will be planning and adjusting our continuing operations based upon their recommendations. We will make regular announcements to members and staff through the e-breeze, our website and Club-wide emails as necessary.

Club Administration:

We anticipate a heavy call volume over the next several days. While we want to do our very best to help everyone as fast and as efficiently as possible, we would greatly appreciate your patience as we do our best to respond to all inquiries. If it’s not essential and you’re comfortable waiting a few days to ask that question, it would be appreciated!

While the front desk and accounting will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, we would appreciate you sending us an email or making a phone call rather than an in person visit. The administration staff will continue to work, but at a safe distance from each other. Thanks for your patience in this regard!

Marina staff will continue to work looking after our marinas. If you can avoid coming down to our marinas we would appreciate that. The less contact with people in the short term is best for all.

Our staff are part of our family and we will do all we can to look after them. Any staff affected by a closure or suspension of services will either be tasked to help out in other essential areas or if a layoff becomes necessary we will ensure they are looked after.

We will provide regular updates and do our best to ensure everyone is kept fully informed. Thank you for your patience and understanding in these novel and difficult times.

2) Can we eat at the Clubhouse?

Page 20: Lottery for Cruising Dock Space at Wigwam Inn and ... · Currently, the lottery is for dock space only, and only available at Alexandra Island and Wigwam Inn docks. As the public

Unfortunately, no. There will not be any “stay-in” dining. We ask that members call in their orders through the direct line to the Star and Dragon (604-224-1345). The elevator will not be in service so we ask that you park at the west side of the Clubhouse when picking up meals. We can deliver the take out meal directly to your vehicle, if you would like. There will be no access to the upper level and hence no access to Marine Lounge, liquor lockers or the billiards room.

3) Can we purchase beer and wine with our take-out meals?

Unfortunately, no.

4) Is the Mermaid open?

Absolutely, yes! But only for take-out meals. Give the Mermaid a call at 604-644-7792. The regular great menu applies and is available online as well. Hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

5) Can I access my boat?

Yes! The marinas will be open and staff will be on hand. Bear in mind the very important message from health authorities to limit the number of people gathering and allow some extra space between your friends. We’ve discovered the new term “social distancing”. In all seriousness, keep 1-2 metres between you and others. The Coal Harbour workshop will be limited to 2 people at a time (social distancing again!) while the Jericho workshop will be closed to members as staff will be using it for maintenance purposes.

6) Are the outstations open?

Yes! With these special circumstances you are able to cancel a Wigwam or Scott Point reservation without penalty. And again, remember, if you have been out of Canada or are not feeling well, you need to self-isolate (another new word!) for 14 days before venturing to the Club. Please do not gather in large groups. Give you and your friends some distance between each other as the health authorities have requested.

A Final Thought:

On behalf of the Executive Committee and the Management of our Club, thank you for helping us, your fellow members and our family of staff members through this difficult time. We need to help each other out while at the same time avoiding close contact. When times get tough, good friends and neighbours rally together to look after each other. While we are limiting contact with each other until we have beat this challenge, take a moment to give your friends a phone call or send them an email to make sure they are managing alright, especially our friends who may be a little more isolated. We will keep you apprised of any new developments on a regular basis.
