NEW YOUTH MINISTER AND CONFIRMATION COORDINATOR: DAVID FLYNN

David, a Minnesota native, graduated from the University of Dallas with a degree in Theology in 2016 and has recently returned home to the Twin Cities.

He has worked as a Campus Minister at the Uni-versity of Dallas and was Resident Coordinator for their study abroad program in Rome, Italy. He has taught religion and now is thrilled to be

the new Youth Minister at St. Peter.

Beyond ministry and pursuing a master's degree in theology at St. Thomas, he enjoys competing in triathlons, spending time with family and friends, and aspiring to be the best underwater basket weaver.

David shares the values of St. Peter, where he hopes his work will “advance the mission of the parish by forming young minds in the concepts of the faith, providing excellent service to parents, and contributing to the community at large.”

Please join me in welcoming David to his new position at St. Peter. He will begin on December 5th.

TREE REMOVAL

For several years, a row of trees has lined South Shore Drive and offered shade to many who park in our lot or along the curb in the summer. Unfortunately, those trees now pose a threat to people, property and anything else they may strike due to rotting limbs and branches. Yes, age has taken a toll on them and before anyone or thing gets hurt, we are going to have them removed this fall/winter and plan to replace them with new healthy trees this spring. So, don’t be surprised if the next time you come to church they are gone.

Many thanks to Rob Stangler who has offered to remove the trees free of charge.

Blessings on your Advent,

FAITH WORKS MINISTRY

Thank you to all parishioners who

contributed by donating gifts, monetary gifts, or labor to make St. Peter’s Annual Military Outreach a great success!

Special Thanks to:

• The St. Peter’s preschool children who deco-rated the Christmas stockings

• The Office Angels who made notes and holy cards to send with the gifts

• The Sixth Grade Faith Formation students who sorted the donations and the Faith For-mation students who made Christmas cards

• The dedicated group of parishioners who stuffed the stockings and packed the boxes for shipping (They called themselves “St. Peter’s Stuffers!”)

Due to all of you, we were able to send 192 Christmas stockings and numerous boxes of other gifts to our military men and women and the veterans of the Minnesota Veterans Home. What a great community effort—a labor of love! Blessings to all!

RETURN TO PARISH OFFICE | YOU WILL BE CONTACTED WITH INFO

Catholic agencies provide important social services to vulnerable people and families, including in the areas of adoption and foster care. In order to con-tinue to offer care to people in need, the Church must be free to operate in accordance with her con-victions.

A 2016 regulation from Health and Human Services (HHS) threatened to shut out faith-based social ser-vice providers, including adoption and foster care agencies that respect a child’s right to a mother and a father. To restrict faith-based organizations’ work by infringing on religious freedom is unfair and serves no one, especially the children in need of these services. The Trump Administration has pro-posed a change to the 2016 rule, which would give faith-based agencies the space to continue to serve.

When there are over 400,000 children are in foster care, we need to take steps to increase – not de-crease – their opportunities to be placed with safe and loving families. Join the USCCB in urging the Administration to adopt the proposed rule change. Take action today! Health and Human Services: https://www.hhs.gov
