Installation Systems for Ceramic & Stone Tile

Effective January 10, 2014

All prior conditions of sale shall be deemed to be modified as hereinafter stated and the following conditions shall be deemed to supersede and control disputes or claims to goods.

1. Ownership of the PropertyOwnership of the products shall remain and vest with Schluter until full payment has been received with respect thereto.

2. DeliveryIf Schluter is prevented from carrying out the provisions hereof by reason of any acts of God, war, revolution, strike, riot, earthquake, delay by carrier, fuel shortage, embargo, lockout or other labour disturbance, the operations of statute of law, interference of civil or military authority or any other event beyond its control, interfering with the production or delivery of the products as herein contemplated, Schluter shall be exonerated from and shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from any of the foregoing and shall be further excused from making deliveries to the extent of such interference and shall have, in addition to the foregoing and without prejudice thereto, the absolute right to cancel any purchase orders with respect to any of the products therein described or with respect to any part thereof without any liability of any nature whatsoever attaching to itself other than the obligation to reimburse and return any payments of monies made in advance for the products which shall not be delivered for the reasons hereinabove set forth. Any delivery not in dispute shall be paid for regardless of any other existing disputes between Schluter and the Buyer relating to other delivered or undelivered products.

3. Inspection and SampleThe Buyer shall have the right to inspect the products upon delivery of same. Failure by the Buyer to inspect the said products and specify in writing to Schluter any defective products shall constitute on the Buyer’s part an absolute and unconditional waiver of the Buyer’s right to reject the products and shall be deemed an acceptance by the Buyer of the products as to quality and/or quantity of same. Any samples of the products shown to the Buyer prior to placement of any order with Schluter are for the sole purpose and intent of exhibiting to the Buyer the type of products which may be the subject matter of an order by the Buyer. Such samples create no warranty on the part of Schluter, implied or otherwise, that the said products ultimately forming the subject matter of an order placed by the Buyer necessarily shall conform with the samples referred to above.

4. ClaimsAny claim for damage, short shipment, misdelivery or defects of the products must be specified in writing on the delivery slip and brought to the attention of Schluter at the time of delivery. If no claim is made by the Buyer at the time of receipt of the products, then the right to make such claim or the right to reject any or all of the products shall be waived by the Buyer. At its option, Schluter will either replace such products that are proven defective or allow credit for them.

5. InstallationSchluter shall in no way be responsible for any claims resulting from the installation or finishing of the products.

6. LiabilitySchluter is not liable and/or responsible toward any third party and/or Buyer, as the case may be, for any damage and/or loss of any nature or kind howsoever arising, resulting directly or indirectly from the use of the products in a manner not in conformity with the instructions accompanying same and in effect with respect thereto and/or resulting from the products being improperly used for which the products were not intended. Prior to any use of products, the user and/or Buyer has the prior obligation to verify the suitability of the products for their intended use and the Buyer shall assume all risks and responsibility with respect thereto.

Schluter’s responsibility and liability with respect to defective products and/or work attaching thereto shall be confined solely to the replacement and/or repair of same. In addition to the foregoing, Schluter shall alternatively have the right to reimburse the Buyer the purchase price paid with respect thereto rather than to replace and/or repair the defective products.

7. AcceptanceInstallation and/or use of the products by the Buyer shall constitute an irrevocable acceptance of the products. Failure to reject the products in the manner and within the time period stipulated in paragraphs 4 and 5 hereof shall be deemed to constitute an acceptance of the products.

8. CancellationOrders are not subject to cancellation or deferment of shipment unless Schluter is indemnified against the loss resulting therefrom. Schluter shall not be responsible for delays or non-performance caused by strikes, fires or other causes beyond its control, as the whole is stipulated in paragraph 3 hereof. Orders entered on Schluter’s order book cannot be cancelled or changed without Schluter’s prior written consent and then only on the terms which will indemnify Schluter against all loss. No cancellations will be accepted or allowed after the order has been shipped from our warehouse.

10. Modifications of ConditionsNo modifications of the conditions can be made without the prior written authorization from a representative of Schluter.

Stainless Steel: Can withstand high levels of mechanical stress, and is especially suited for areas of application where resistance to chemicals and acids is necessary.

Solid Brass: Can withstand high levels of mechanical stress, making it ideal for transitions subjected to heavy traffic, including exposure to wheel loads (for example: carpet to marble in hotel lobbies or industrial settings). Brass is resistant to most chemicals commonly used in tiled environments. Note: While solid brass is highly resistant to most common chemicals, it will oxidize, resulting in a natural patina. In areas exposed to moisture or aggressive substances, heavy oxidation and spotting may occur. Common brass cleaners can be used to clean the profile.

Mill-finished Aluminum: Provides effective edge protection for residential and light commercial applications where minimum exposure to moisture and chemicals is expected. Cementitious materials, in conjunction with moisture, become alkaline. Since aluminum is sensitive to alkaline materials, it is important to remove mortar or grout residue from visible surfaces.

Anodized Aluminum: The anodized layer creates a durable finish that retains a uniform appearance over a long period of time. Anodized aluminum provides added protection against the corrosive effects of moisture. Any anodized finish is susceptible to scratching and wear.

Color-coated Aluminum: This pretreated aluminum is color-coated with a polyurethane powder coat. The coating is color-stable, UV-resistant, and suitable for exterior use. Not suitable for corners or transitions subjected to heavy mechanical stresses (for example: at step edges or floor transitions).

PVC: Moisture resistant. Made of rigid PVC, which resists bending or scratching. It is also UV-resistant, though not permanently color-stable, in exterior applications. Not suited for corners or transitions subjected to heavy mechanical stresses (for example: at step edges or floor transitions).

1. Select the height of profile (H) according to the tile thickness (ie. 3/8" tile = 3/8" profile).

2. Press the perforated anchoring leg of the profile into the tile adhesive and align. Trowel additional adhesive over the leg.

3. Set the tile flush with the profile. The integrated joint spacer establishes a small, uniform joint (approximately 1/16"), to be filled when grouting.

SCHIENE-RADIUS provides edge protection while enhancing the aesthetic appearance of a curved design, including curved tile-to-tile transitions and curved outside wall corners, as well as curved designs in other surface coverings. Alternatively, the profile may be installed with an adhesive such as Schluter®-KERDI-FIX. QUADEC-K is installed in wall applications (e.g., wainscotings and bases) with coverings up to 1/2" thick. TREP-E has a stainless steel anchoring leg which is embedded in the tile bond coat. TREP-EK is subsequently bonded to existing installations using Schluter®-KERDI-FIX (see page 66), or a similar adhesive. As such, TREP-EK can be installed as a repair so that existing, damaged stair treads do not have to be replaced.

Schluter®-DILEX-HKUSchluter®-DILEX-HKU is a stainless steel, cove-shaped profile for inside wall corners and floor/wall (including countertop/ backsplash) transitions. DILEX-HKU may be used with floor coverings other than ceramic and stone tile, provided the floor coverings are fastened or adhered (i.e., no floating floors). The profile features a single anchoring leg that turns inward, which allows the DILEX-HKU to be used with different thicknesses of tile. A 3/8" radius cove section forms the visible surface and prevents the accumulation of dirt, making cleaning simple. DILEX-HKU prevents surface water penetration and meets the maintenance and hygienic requirements of commercial kitchens, bathrooms, and food processing plants, or any tiled environment where a sanitary cove base is desired.

Schluter®-DITRA and Schluter®-DITRA-XL are polyethylene uncoupling membranes with a grid structure of square cutback cavities and an anchoring fleece laminated to the underside. DITRA and DITRA-XL provide uncoupling through the open rib structure, which allows for in-plane movement that effectively neutralizes the differential movement stresses between the substrate and the tile, thus eliminating the major cause of cracking and delaminating of the tiled surface. Schluter®-DITRA is 1/8"-thick, which minimizes tile assembly thickness and reduces transitions to lower surface coverings (e.g., carpet, engineered wood, and vinyl). The residential adaptor ring is used to convert a traditional residential clamping ring drain to an integrated bonding flange drain when removal of the clamping ring drain is not practical. A stainless steel adaptor ring with an overmolded rubber gasket replaces the clamping ring and is sealed to the existing drain body using Schluter®-KERDI-FIX. The bonding flange then slides into the adaptor ring and seals against the rubber gasket. The KERDI-DRAIN with residential adaptor ring features an ABS bonding flange and is suitable for both mortar bed and Schluter®-KERDI-SHOWER-ST shower tray applications.

Schluter®-KERDI-LINEThe Schluter®-KERDI-LINE is a low profile linear floor drain specifically designed for bonded waterproofing assemblies. KERDI-LINE can be installed adjacent to walls or at intermediate locations in showers, wet rooms, and other applications that require waterproofing and drainage. The floor can be sloped on a single plane to KERDI-LINE, which enables the use of large-format tiles and creates interesting design opportunities.

Schluter®-KERDI-LINE consists of a formed stainless steel channel body and a grate assembly that can be seamlessly adjusted to the thickness of the ceramic tile or stone covering from 1/8" to 1". Grate assemblies are available in three designs: closed, perforated, or tile pan.

Schluter®-KERDI-SHOWER-L/-LSThe KERDI-SHOWER-L/-LS are polystyrene sloped trays with integrated Schluter®-KERDI waterproofing. The KERDI-SHOWER-L allows for the installation of a center drain whereas the KERDI-SHOWER-LS accommodates the installation of the drain along the perimeter of the shower.

Schluter®-SHOWERPROFILE-SThe SHOWERPROFILE-S is a two-part profile with a tapered edge, designed to cover adjoining tile edges that become exposed as the shower floor slopes to accommodate drainage to the Schluter®-KERDI-LINE. The tapered profile features a visible surface of brushed stainless steel and a fleece fabric on the reverse for bonding with the tile adhesive. It is designed to be inserted into the U-shaped groove of the matching hard PVC support profile. The profile can be used for lateral transitions to the wall or the adjoining floor.

COVERAGE AND CONDITIONS: Subject to the conditions and limitations as stated hereinafter, Schluter-Systems* warrants that Schluter-Systems Tools (the “Products”)** will be free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the date of purchase only when the Products have been used for their intended purpose in accordance with the Schluter-Systems Illustrated Price List. Abnormal use, including but not limited to, misuse, accident, modification, unrea-sonable use, abuse, neglect, lack of maintenance, or use after the product is significantly worn, is not covered by this warranty. Consumable Products or consumable parts of Products are warranted, at the time of sale, only against defects in workmanship or materials that prevent their use. Consumable products or parts are goods reasonably expected to be used up or damaged during normal use, including but not limited to trowels, cutting blades, and cutting wheels. This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear or defects revealed by normal wear and tear.

RESOLUTION: If the Products fail to meet this warranty, then then the owner’s exclusive remedy and the sole obligation of Schluter-Systems, at its election, shall be to a) repair or replace the failed Products or b) pay an amount not to exceed the original cost of the Products verified to be defective.

2013 Warranty Program Summary

All Schluter-Systems products are covered under our warranty program. Products are warranted for the applicable term from the date of purchase only when the products are used and installed in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable Schluter-Systems technical literature and industry standard guidelines that are not in conflict with the technical literature.

All prior conditions of sale shall be deemed to be modified as hereinafter stated and the following conditions shall be deemed to supersede and control disputes or claims to goods.

1. Ownership of the PropertyOwnership of the products shall remain and vest with Schluter until full payment has been received with respect thereto.

2. DeliveryIf Schluter is prevented from carrying out the provisions hereof by reason of any acts of God, war, revolution, strike, riot, earthquake, delay by carrier, fuel shortage, embargo, lockout or other labour disturbance, the operations of statute of law, interference of civil or military authority or any other event beyond its control, interfering with the production or delivery of the products as herein contemplated, Schluter shall be exonerated from and shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from any of the foregoing and shall be further excused from making deliveries to the extent of such interference and shall have, in addition to the foregoing and without prejudice thereto, the absolute right to cancel any purchase orders with respect to any of the products therein described or with respect to any part thereof without any liability of any nature whatsoever attaching to itself other than the obligation to reimburse and return any payments of monies made in advance for the products which shall not be delivered for the reasons hereinabove set forth. Any delivery not in dispute shall be paid for regardless of any other existing disputes between Schluter and the Buyer relating to other delivered or undelivered products.

3. Inspection and SampleThe Buyer shall have the right to inspect the products upon delivery of same. Failure by the Buyer to inspect the said products and specify in writing to Schluter any defective products shall constitute on the Buyer’s part an absolute and unconditional waiver of the Buyer’s right to reject the products and shall be deemed an acceptance by the Buyer of the products as to quality and/or quantity of same. Any samples of the products shown to the Buyer prior to placement of any order with Schluter are for the sole purpose and intent of exhibiting to the Buyer the type of products which may be the subject matter of an order by the Buyer. Such samples create no warranty on the part of Schluter, implied or otherwise, that the said products ultimately forming the subject matter of an order placed by the Buyer necessarily shall conform with the samples referred to above.

4. ClaimsAny claim for damage, short shipment, misdelivery or defects of the products must be specified in writing on the delivery slip and brought to the attention of Schluter at the time of delivery. If no claim is made by the Buyer at the time of receipt of the products, then the right to make such claim or the right to reject any or all of the products shall be waived by the Buyer. At its option, Schluter will either replace such products that are proven defective or allow credit for them.

5. InstallationSchluter shall in no way be responsible for any claims resulting from the installation or finishing of the products.

6. LiabilitySchluter is not liable and/or responsible toward any third party and/or Buyer, as the case may be, for any damage and/or loss of any nature or kind howsoever arising, resulting directly or indirectly from the use of the products in a manner not in conformity with the instructions accompanying same and in effect with respect thereto and/or resulting from the products being improperly used for which the products were not intended. Prior to any use of products, the user and/or Buyer has the prior obligation to verify the suitability of the products for their intended use and the Buyer shall assume all risks and responsibility with respect thereto.

Schluter’s responsibility and liability with respect to defective products and/or work attaching thereto shall be confined solely to the replacement and/or repair of same. In addition to the foregoing, Schluter shall alternatively have the right to reimburse the Buyer the purchase price paid with respect thereto rather than to replace and/or repair the defective products.

7. AcceptanceInstallation and/or use of the products by the Buyer shall constitute an irrevocable acceptance of the products. Failure to reject the products in the manner and within the time period stipulated in paragraphs 4 and 5 hereof shall be deemed to constitute an acceptance of the products.

8. CancellationOrders are not subject to cancellation or deferment of shipment unless Schluter is indemnified against the loss resulting therefrom. Schluter shall not be responsible for delays or non-performance caused by strikes, fires or other causes beyond its control, as the whole is stipulated in paragraph 3 hereof. Orders entered on Schluter’s order book cannot be cancelled or changed without Schluter’s prior written consent and then only on the terms which will indemnify Schluter against all loss. No cancellations will be accepted or allowed after the order has been shipped from our warehouse.

10. Modifications of ConditionsNo modifications of the conditions can be made without the prior written authorization from a representative of Schluter.
