Lowlands is Telšiai.

On this excursion you will visit:

The Hill of Crosses in the region of Šiauliai,The Amber Museum in Palanga,

Klaipėda Clocks and Watches Museum, and

The Sea Museum in Klaipėda.

The Hill of Crosses

The hill of crosses is located12 kilometres north of Šiauliai.It is the Lithuanian national pilgrimage centre. There are thousands of small and largecrosses on a tony hill which is visited by many thousands of pilgrims from our country and foreign countries every year.

The Amber Museum

The museum was founded in 1963 and housed in the former Palace of Count Feliksas Tiškevičius. Permanent display reflects the centuries old history of amber formation. The Palanga Amber Museum has the collection of 15000 inclusions the study of which provides ample material for the investigation of the history of amber and million-year-old flora and fauna. Currently the museum includes 15 rooms with expositions that cover about 750 sq.m. The collection includes about 28000 items. About 8 million people have come to visit the Palanga Amber Museum. The Museum is becoming famous for its traditional cultural events.

Klaipėda Clocks and Watches Museum was opened on the 27th of July, 1984. The exhibition was supplemented and completed by clocks and watches from Art Museum. The clocks and watches of the end of the 19th, the beginning of the 20th century made the basic part of the exhibition. The clocks and watches exhibited in the four halls on the first floor show the change of form cases.Each part of the development history is illustrated by engravings, schemes and explanatory texts, made by Romualdas Martinkus.

Klaipėda Clocks and Watches Museum

The Sea Museum It is situated in Smiltynė, the

area of Klaipėda. You can get there by ferry or by ship. The Sea Museum is founded in the former Kopgalis fortress which was built in the second half of the 19th century. The rich exposition tells the story about Lithuania’s navigation, the Baltic sea. But the aquarium and dolphinarium attract most visitors. They can admire dolphins, seals, penguins and other exhibits.
