Loxwood FC has become a widely respected member of the Premier Division of the Sussex County League, always finishing the top half of the league and regularly in the top 6.

Our two adult teams are now competing every year in the FA Cup and FA Vase and we are twice winners of the U18 Sussex county cup.

Our pitch and facilities continue to improve, befitting our Senior Football Club status, with floodlights, hard spectator standing around the pitch, a 100-seater stand, a covered stand and a modern clubhouse which have all come because of significant local fundraising, sponsors and grants.

The Plaistow Road pitch is now regarded as one of the best surfaces in Sus-sex. Indeed, last season we hosted a county cup semi -final and final. No doubt we will be hosting further prestige matches in the future.

We put a lot of our success down to the following key factors:

1) A culture that places no one individual bigger than the club. 2) A dedicated committee with a varied skill set, that has the disciplines and standards expected of a well-run Senior Football Club. 3) Ambition to grow – a sustainable, community based junior programme. 4) A continued investment programme in player and spectator facilities for the future.

2015/16 was a landmark season for the Club achieving Charter Standard Club status. This is the footballing equivalent of the BS kite mark, recognition that we meet the FA standard for our administration and coaching. Our next goals is to attain full FA Community Club accreditation.

Last season, the Loxwood Youth Football Club was formed with 200 Junior players spanning U6 to U16s. This included the introduction of our first girls junior team at U7.

Whatever your age, gender or ability, there should be a place for you at the club whilst ensuring we position Local Community Youth football as the primary building block on which Loxwood FC can be sustained going forward. We can only do all this with the magnificent support from our spon-sors and advertisers who we rely on heavily. Everyone is welcome to come to the Plaistow Road ground where a warm welcome awaits.

Mark Lacey Chairman Loxwood FC

LINGFIELD FC - BRIEF HISTORY

Lingfield FC was formed in 1893, initially competing in the now defunct Edenbridge & District League for the first 20 years of its history. Through-out virtually all their history the club has retained its distinctive red and yellow colours, albeit in a variety of guises.

After much success in junior and local intermediate football the club applied to join the Sussex County League (and senior football) in 1980, but were turned down after the ground was deemed inadequate. However, Lingfield had more success with the Combined Counties League, which they joined the following season (1980/81). In 1981/82 Lingfield finished as runners-up in Division Two of the Eastern Division.

Lingfield installed floodlights for the first time in 1983 and they were christened with a match on 2nd March against Brighton, a game that drew a crowd of 1,200. With floodlights in place, the club was finally accepted into Division Two of the County League, with the promise of less traveling and more local derbies to look forward to. After three seasons however, they were relegated to Division Three, and intermediate football once more.

In 1993/94 Lingfield returned to senior football as runners-up to Bosham, but it proved to be a brief return, with relegation following the next season. In 1997/98 however, the club was promoted once more, this time as champions of Division Three, but again struggled to maintain senior status. In 2000 they finished bottom but avoided the drop, but were not as lucky with an identical finish the following year.

2001/02 saw Lingfield close to dropping out of the League altogether after they finished bottom of Division Three, only to be saved by the merger of Ansty Rangers and St. Francis Hospital to form St. Francis Rangers. The following two seasons however, saw a steady improvement, finishing 3rd in the table (albeit 8 points behind second-placed Bexhill United) in 2004/05. The club also reached the final of the Division 3 Challenge Cup, but lost 1-3 to Rustington.

In 2005/06 the Club fulfilled its promise of the previous season by going one better and returning to senior football after an absence of five years as runners-up to champions Peacehaven & Telcombe. Lingfield finished five points clear of third-placed Rustington, but the West Sussex club was once again to prove their nemesis in the Challenge Cup, beating Lingfield 12-11 on penalties after the two sides had drawn 1-1 in normal time. Astonish-ingly, the shoot-out saw no fewer than 32 spot kicks taken!

In 2006/07 the club finished in 10th position but in 2007/08 under manager Steve Perkins Jnr, secured promotion to Division 1 for the first time in their history by finishing as runners-up to East Grinstead Town.

In this period of remembrance we have been looking into our village's

history, specifically in connection to The Great War and we have

learnt about the 24 men that gave their lives in that conflict.

We will hold a minute's silence just before kick off on Saturday game

v Lancing to enable us to consider and show respect to all those who

have given the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of freedom and we ask

that if you are attending the match that you respect the right of

others to partake in that moment.

All of the Club's players and Management Team will have poppies

adhered to their match kit on the day.

Loxwood have begun interviewing for their vacant managerial position and revealed they have been ‘humbled by the quality of applicants’. After the announcement that Gareth Neathey, who stepped up from the assistant managerial role to take charge this season, was quitting the role because of increased work commitments, the Magpies swooped swiftly into action to find his predecessor.

The application period for potential new managers was cut down to just a week after receiving such a high-quality set of interested parties. The SCFL Premier Division side have had a tricky start to the new campaign, sitting second-from bottom in the table with nine defeats and just one win in 11 games. The club seem confident that will turn, with secretary Matt Camp explaining: “We originally had the period to apply open for two weeks, but with the quan-tity of very good applications, we thought it would be better to change that. “We have whittled things down and will interview them over the next six days. “We have been really pleased and humbled by the quality of appli-cants we have had in experience and credentials terms. It’s a new process for us as we have never really go this route, we have always promoted from our knowledge – it’s given us a real understanding of how we are regarded.” Assistant manager Chris Simmons and under-18s boss Camp have been taking the side on an interim basis since and will continue to do so.

The club hope to have appointed their man towards the back end of next week, although it is unlikely he will take charge of next Saturday’s clash with East Preston.
