atmosphere.”Brian Villatol (9) | “I like the basketball team.It’s like a big
family. We like to eat at Taco Bell and most of t he team goes.” Jacob Markert

far corner of the freshman cafeteria at the back table.” Mathea Nocon (9)
As cousins, Phillip Lentsch (9, left) and Lucas Taylor (9, right) experienced family
time often. Not only did they share the same grandparents, but they were also very
involved in Greek cultural activities together. Both were born into Greek families
and their parents brought them up with as much Greek tradition as they could.
“We are pretty much 110% like the Big, Fat, Greek Wedding family, except for themarriage part,” Lentsch said.
“We’re together all the time and sometimes the family is up in your business
and very loud. But we do get to eat a lot!” Taylor said.
Lentsch and Taylor spent almost every dinner during the weekend together, and
several times, throughout the week, they found themselves at the home of their
YaYa (grandmother) for a Greek meal.
One of the biggest Greek events, the Louisville Greek Festival, was something
the boys really anticipated. It was a three day festival in which the Greek
Assumption Orthodox Church raised money for the church and celebrated Greek
culture.
Lentsch and Taylor danced at the festival with their younger siblings. Their
parents served Greek entrees to guests and worked at vendor booths selling
Greek clothing. The boys saw the festival as a way to show how proud they were
of where their family came from, and to share their lifestyle with others.
“The festival is a little overwhelming because there are so many things we
are celebrating at once, but getting to dance in front of everyone is an awesome
experience,” Taylor said.
