As the saying goes, Teach a kid to eat he will eat you out of house and home, teach them how to fish, and they will bring supper home to you. Or something like that. The rules are simple, the tournament is open to all kids 13 yrs old and younger. They compete for largest fish in boy and girl cate- gories and most fish overall. Since we chum the waters and there are so many fishing at one time, we make this a catch and release event. After the fishing has been completed, we all head to the Palm Bay Moose to cele- brate and hand out prizes. There were games and a bounce house. Lots of great food to eat and of course water balloons and squirt guns. This years tournament was able to host seventeen kids with ages ranging from four to thirteen. Wow… It’s September already, can’t believe how time is flying by. Hopefully it will cool down a little soon. We now have a new exhaust fan in social quarters to help get rid of the smoke and now you can sit and read the months activities on the new scrolling sign over the door, don’t have to look at 20 posters in bathroom to find out what’s going on…lol Coming up we have our Labor Day Celebration and Our Hallow-een Party for Kids daytime, and Adults (big KIDS !!!) nighttime..see write ups in news letter or better yet, stop down and read it on the New scrolling sign while enjoying an adult beverage at “The Friendliest Lodge in Town”. We are looking for a couple more cooking teams for Friday Night 6PM to 9PM and for Sunday 1PM to 5 PM. If interested at all please text me or call 321-987-5492 or let an officer or myself know at the Lodge. We have a fantastic group of volunteers that are doing it now but we can always use more help.. It’s not that hard, if I can handle it…anyone can. Fraternally, Dave Sowards, Governor

Well here we are again it’s been two months, time to write to you. As your Admin-istrator of the Lodge, I see what’s going on here day-to-day, week to week, in the course of month to month. I see that we have had a great summer, this whole sum-mer we really only had one bad week. It’s because of you, that this is happening, you’re coming in, enjoying yourself, fellowship among other members and to be served by all of our servers. I need to say thank you to Bobby and his crew for all they do for me and for you. Sometimes I think we forget that they’re back there ba-sically as volunteers. Moose International and our IRS are telling us that we are going to need to put our employees on payroll. This will add a tremendous amount of ex-pense to the Lodge, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

Moose tells us now we need to build our foundation, one thing I have to say about the Palm Bay Moose Lodge is we have been building our foundations here for nine years. Starting off with a 200 man Lodge and having a hard time keeping those 200. Goals were set to reach 300 and we never knew we would be at over 400 members. Best not to say that our coworkers have done a great job also, they have well over 300 members and they are growing faster than the Loom. The one thing that’s good in this building of our foundation, is the coworkers and the loom members work together to make this the best little Lodge around. So I want to say thank you to all of you who come in faithfully and support your Lodge.

Your board works very hard in the day-to-day running of this Lodge. I would like nothing more than to see more members coming to the meetings. The Meetings are for “you”, to hear what is going on in “your” Lodge, with membership as well as with finances. It’s also there for you to express your opinions on how we should grow, how we can improve our Lodge and where we are going to relocate. Remember a General Meeting is not a gripe session, but a place for you to share ideas, and learn more about your Lodge. A Lodge is not run from the Social Quarters.

Well I guess I’ve said enough, I will be looking forward to seeing and hearing from you, remember this is a fraternity, it depends upon all of us working together, not just a few.

Fraternally, Your Frustrated Administrator, Lee Singleton

I know you probably get tired of hearing me talk about more members. We have only had two Loom applications this month so far. Not so good, in even at that we are still only three away according to Moose and two away according to my numbers. And that’s with two transferring out and one dying. I have written seven letters this month of which two have already paid their dues. I spoke to three other members that are two or more months expired and they have paid their dues. I want to say thank you to all of you that support Palm Bay Moose Lodge. Without you the members we would not have the best little Lodge around. Membership Chairman, Lee Singleton

The Women of The Moose Chapter 2193

CAN YOU RIDE

WITH THIS

Greetings and salutations Co-Workers . . . Here is hoping your summer has been fun filled and restful and all your vacations were awesome. It is wonderful to see people return with glows on their faces and relaxed expressions. It is always nice when friends return with adventures to tell.

As people return from far away trips I hope you notice that we have a new scrolling message board. . A joint venture between the LOOM / WOTM / Moose Riders and OMG club. . All equal contributors for a fantastic way to spread the message of up coming events.

September is upon us, keep your eyes on the calendar and the new board for upcoming events. There are a lot of fun activities up com-ing to dazzle, amaze and amuse you.

As always this is YOUR organization. . The board of officers and committee leaders are always looking for new ideas to keep the mem-bers interested and willing to come in .. So Please come to the meetings on the 2nd and 4th

Wednesday of the month .. Share your ideas . . This is your Lodge and we always welcome new ideas. Want to make new friends??. . Come volunteer every once in a while. . It doesn’t have to be anything major , but any help is appreci-ated and is a great way to be part of a unique “meet and greet”.

Summer has been slow, but we are hoping it picks up here . . Bingo is on going, breakfasts are getting ready to gear up again, as are the steak shoots. . Remember the functions help keep Mooseheart and Moosehaven up and running, as well as the lodge.

Make it an awesome start to the month, and hope to see you in the lodge and at the meet-ings. . There is also a WOTM mail box. .if you truly cannot make a meeting, jot your idea down, address it to me, and put it in the locked box. Please just sign your note in case I have questions or feedback.

Fraternally yours,

Teresa Gladchuk Senior Regent

Nashville Experience (Continued from page 1)

because they don’t have as many in the state. We realized that we all face similar strug-gles, trying to keep members engaged and ac-tive.

I came home with a renewed sense of how important it is to keep our lodge up and running and the importance of keeping the focus for the good of our organization. . There were lessons on how much the seniors at Moosehaven need us and even more important how much the kids and Mooseheart Need us . . We had the chance to meet some of the kids, and hear their stories . . and they put in their own words how much WE, the members of the Moose, changed their lives and SAVED their lives . .Yes, By being a member of the Moose Lodge we help save lives .. Some of these kids would not have survived with out our great organization.

I know sometimes people groan about the fundraisers and dinners and such . . But always keep in mind that we the WOTM have to have so many fundraisers a year . . These are all done because a portion of the proceeds go towards Mooseheart and Moosehaven every month . . and these fundraisers are vital to ensuring that

the Kids and seniors are secure. Every lodge, every Chapter that is active, donates. And let me tell you I truly believe with all my heart in the good that we are doing. It doesn’t take much to make a person realize the difference we make when you hear the kids tell you how their lives have changed because we support this organiza-tion. When kids tell you about their little almost ruined lives and then being accepted at our child city, and now their lives are on a terrific upward path and their future is bright and promising, it ignites a passion I can not explain. Some of these stories brought tears to my eyes. . there were times there would not be a dry eye in a room packed with thousands of co-workers.

So PLEASE always remember, that the activities we do in our lodge is supporting so many things . . .the up keep of buildings, the buying of kids clothes, funding of everyday needed supplies, food, meals, medicines. And the list goes on. If you want additional hard facts on what our won-derful organization does, I will show you the folder I am compiling or you can visit the Moose International website and read the good things we do.

The Palm Bay Chapter of the Women of the Moose has announced their choice for the 2016 Lifetime Achieve-ment Award. Each year a co-worker is chosen to represent our Chapter in the International Competition. This competition is meant to recognize those Co-workers who make a long term commitment to the Women of the Moose and the ideals to support Mooseheart, Moosehaven and their local communities. This years nomi-nee is none other than Sharon Hall Murray. through years of dedication, Sharon has organized and enthusias-tically supported many local commu-nity events here with the Chapter and the Lodge. Just reviewing this last year, no one can forget the Day for Lillyana, raising money and pet food for the Space Coast Kibble Kitchen, supporting a great volunteer Mike Constable after he was hit by a

stroke, with a raffle, selling cutouts for different fundraisers, School sup-plies for the Children’s Home Society, and most recently selling Special K’s for Kathy our friend and Co-worker who is recovering from a stroke. There are other things that mean a lot to our Moose family, Sharon cre-ates the most amazing treats for our kids parties, whether a Twinkie car or Minion, to the sweetest things at Christmas. The Women of the Moose has let her know she is appreciated, so the next time you see Sharon, Thank her for all she does. Knowing Sharon, she always likes to work be-hind the scenes, so she will be upset she is featured here, Let’s support her efforts and enjoy the fact that she will continue to motivate us all, in different ways of supporting our local community and kids. Thank You Sharon !

Kid’s Fishing (Continued from page 1) under overcast skies. But with so much fresh water mixing with the salt, no one knew if the fish would bite or not. With seventeen kids there, we were definitely going to try. From eight in the morning until eleven, there were a total of thirteen fish caught. Each one was measured tip to tail., photographed, and released. As the fishing continued, Danielle G. reeled in the most unique fish of the day, an 11 1/4 inch Flounder. Amy K. docked a 12 inch Mangrove Snapper, for the largest by a girl. The boys however were not left out. Aden C. repre-sented with the largest and most fish overall

with a 14 inch Catfish, an 11 inch Catfish, and two smaller Puffer Fish. All in all the fishing was fun, but the morning went slow for the lack of biting fish. As eleven o’clock came about, we all headed to the Moose Lodge for games and prizes. Chairman Mike makes sure every child goes home with a prize. There are lots of pictures posted on the lodge website, www.palmbaymoose.com. The Palm Bay Moose Lodge has a great tradition of holding great events for kids. Watch for the next great event… The Kids Halloween Party in October. Story by W. Scott Duncan
