Dear Sally

I am writing to set out the TOAs support for the Torquay Gateway and Town Centre Regeneration Scheme The project fits well with the objectives of the Torbay Econom ic Strategy which identifies both town centre regeneration and bringing forward new and revitalised employment space in the Torquay gateway as p riorities for growth lt wi ll also deliver on the Local Enterprise Partnership objectives of addressing barriers to business growth and promoting employment

Tourism and retail form a significant part of the Torbay economy with one in six people employed in the Bay working in tourism related activity The town centres play an important part in this and improvements to the road infrastructure to increase accessibil ity will not only greatly improve the attractiveness of T orquay town centre but also increase investor confidence in the area

Improvements to the route through the Torquay gateway into the town centre will build on the investment already being made in the South Devon Link Road enabling traffic to move more easily into the town centre By improving accessibility the scheme will greatly improve the attractiveness of T orquay town centre as a shopping and employment centre to support economic growth and regeneration

Yours sincerely
