Waltham Abbey is a charming market town in the Epping Forest district of Essex to the north-east of London and is ideal for both commuting and enjoying the beautiful surrounding countryside.

TravelThe area is well connected by road and rail both for local journeys and for access to major routes and destinations. Liverpool Street Station can be reached in 30 minutes by train from Waltham Cross, and two London Underground stations (Tottenham Hale and Loughton) are a short drive away. Stansted Airport is approximately 50 minutes by train, and only 30 minutes by car. Stratford station is 21 minutes away by direct train, and you’re only an hour away from the delights of Cambridge.

The area has a number of well-regarded schools including Waltham Holy Cross Primary School, Hillhouse C of E Primary School and Upshire Primary Foundation School. Steeped in a rich history, Waltham Abbey can trace its roots back over a thousand years. King Harold II rebuilt a 6th century church here in 1060, and he is said to have been buried here after his death at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. King Henry II later enlarged the church and it became the largest and richest monastery in Essex. Nestling in the picturesque countryside on the borders of Essex, Hertfordshire and Greater London this historic town has much to offer with excellent leisure and sporting facilities, visitor attractions, retail outlets, schools, restaurants, bars, cafes and tea shops.
The nearby Lee Valley Regional Park offers open spaces, cycle paths and the White Water Centre where you can ride the rapids in canoes or rafts, as well as fishing, running or just strolling through the 50 miles Lee Valley Walk. The area also boasts beautiful open countryside and of course Epping Forest lies to the east with its 2,400 hectares of woods, grasslands and lakes.
