LUTHERAN SETTLEMENT HOUSE

annual report

FY 2014

Page 2: lsh-annual-report-fy2014

What an amazing year of growth and success!

As we prepare our 100 year old settlement house building for a $1.5 million metamorphosis, LSH has partnered with Mural Arts to install a beautiful new mosaic mural which has truly transformed the face of LSH. Vital support was received from the PA Dept. of Aging which gave LSH 2014’s largest capital grant and includes a “teaching kitchen” to further the mission of our innovative “Hungry to Healthy” initiative.

Our nationally renowned medical advocacy program has grown this year with a second advocate at CHOP while our advocate at Einstein Hospital received the 2014 award for Excellence in Clinical Programming. We launched a new after school program engaging 37 teens daily from 9 high schools throughout the city. Since the inception of our new Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Program at Jane Addams Place, 19 mothers have learned better parenting skills and their 27 children have learned safer ways to handle strong emotions stemming from earlier trauma.

Our work and impact have not gone without recognition. Jane Addams Place was named the 2013 BuildOn Global Partner of the Year. LSH was deemed an “Exemplary Non-Profit” by the Barra Foundation and also received a GSK IMPACT Award for creating a healthier Philadelphia.

This terrific year has been made possible by our staff, volunteers, and contributors. The Board of Directors and I are deeply grateful for your support.

LETTER FROM KELLY DAVIS
