The CADA Players Presents: KaleidoscopeIf you missed it last weekend, make sure to get
your tickets for this Saturday and Sunday’s perform-
ances (May 2nd and 3rd) of Kaleidoscope – the Cada
Player’s dynamic exploration of the human experi-
ence through dance and music.
“We succeeded in everything we set out to do, it
all worked beautifully” explained Joanne Penney who
co-produced the show with her daughter Sarah.
This weekend’s performances promise the same
level of professionalism and stagecraft that have
marked all Cada shows from Ringmaster to last year’s
knockout African Dreams. Says Joanne, “the fun and
lighthearted show is a joyous upbeat marriage of life
music and vibrant movement with dancers, singers,
clowns, musicians and projections sharing the stage.
There’s never a dull moment.”
The company’s talented crew hails from 15 differ-
ent countries, although almost all are full-time VI resi-
dents. Some though, like Liz Keller a professional
stage manager and Ryan Harper a projectionist have
come from California to volunteer their services.
The primary choreographer for the show is Sarah
Penney, Joanne’s daughter and the show’s co-produc-
er. Additional dance numbers were choreographed by
Amanda Georges, Diandra Jones and Joshua James.
Packed with dance and music the performance
features 20 dance numbers, as well as original musi-
cal compositions, vocalists, piano, drums, bass, steel
pan, and even a string section. “It’s extraordinary the
number of people who step up to share their skills.
The dance company just gets stronger each year,”
says Joanne. “Some people leave, but there is always
another talented individual to take their place.”
Proceeds from the performances go to Green VI,
which will have a display featuring their recycling and
conservation efforts. There will also be a video high-
lighting their organization and its many initiatives.
The show will be held at a spruced up Sir
Briercliffe Hall and show times are 8pm on Saturday
and 6pm on Sunday.

Dear Koren, I’m engaged to be married in December and after
a pre-marital counselling session with my fiancée, shesuggested we have a joint account which I agreed toand told her we can either open one now or when shechanges her name. I got the shock of my life when sheinsisted on being added to my current account. Shehas an idea of how much I make, but I have somemoney from my parents which I don’t want to publi-cize right now. What do I do? –Frustrated
Dear Frustrated,
You must be feeling a little backed into a corner.
Here you are trying to meet your fiancée half way only
to feel bombarded into taking a bigger step than you
intended to. I do understand your stance of having a
joint account that starts when the relationship gets
serious or when you get married. Usually what indi-
viduals have accumulated before they got serious
does not necessarily have to go into the general kitty
unless done willingly.
Money is one of the biggest sources of conflict in
marriages and the advantage of this coming up now is
that you get to discuss important financial matters
before you are actually married. Honesty should be
the best policy in handling this situation. Even though
you were not ready to disclose that you had an inher-

By Dean “The Sportsman” Greenaway
Unbeaten at 2-0 in its North American Caribbean
Rugby Association (NACRA) South Cup Zone League
play after victories over St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the
Grenadines, the BVI Rugby team is facing its biggest
match in its history at 3 pm on Saturday at A.O Shirley
Recreation Grounds. A victory against Curacao –
who’s currently at 1-1 in zone play – would see the
home team advancing to the next round for the first
time in its history.
The squad, which has been in a rebuilding mode,
now has competition for spots on the roster with an
infusion of young talent among the veterans.
“We need to come clean, just beat Curacao and
get the points from the match, and the rights to play
Barbados,” Coach Sherlock “Solo” Solomon pointed
out. “A draw will probably put us through on points
etc., but, we are not thinking on that. A straight win, 6
or 9 points and go to meet Barbados in the playoffs.”
The team has been working hard Solomon noted
and they had a 5 on 5 beach tournament on Sunday.
He said as the competition increases, they have to
work much harder and increase the intensity.
Importantly, he said they have some depth this time
around.
“Guys have been challenging for places and that
has stepped up the tempo per individual and if we
can put it together as a team, we should come out vic-
torious against Curacao,” he said. “We are ready,
ready, ready. This is a game we can’t afford to loose.
The guys are pumped up and really looking forward to
the game. We need to finish off the season with a
bang. We’re ready to bring it on.”
Since their 22-15 victory over St. Vincent and the
Grenadines which avenged a 24-22 loss last year,
Solomon said the competition within the team has
become stiffer because of the depth.
“We showed some depth in the last game and we
had five changes, we lost some players who were
unavailable, but now everybody is back,” Solomon
noted, adding that the team won’t be picked until
today while noting they need to have a good look at
those who are returning and available. “We have a full
roster now. Currently, we have 33 players on our list.
We need 22 on the squad, so picking the first 15 to
start is really tough – for which I’m happy. Competition
among the players is there. We have four or five wing
forwards and they are all competing for a place which
is what you want on a team, so the scenario fits us
well and the competition among the players is what
we need. They will be fighting each other down to the
wire and that’s a good thing for rugby.”
Solomon said they have been enjoying success
this year and support coming from all angles in what
he called a dream season – one which they have been
really enjoying.
“We really need to win on Saturday to keep the
momentum going and into next year,” he said.

it is there that he shows her his “playroom” which is
filled with ropes, chains and whips and he explains
that he is a “dominant” who enjoys doing certain inti-
mate things but only with the full and written consent
of the woman. Ana admits that she is a virgin, a fact
that surprises him, and although reticent, while she
is considering the agreement and negotiating her
terms, she and Christian begin a sexual relationship
that includes some of the practices that Christian
desires.
Christian showers Ana with gifts and favors, such
as a new car and laptop and although she initially
consents and participates willingly to his carnal
desires, he keeps Ana emotionally distant. While still
trying to understand the terms of the “agreement”
Ana asks Christian to demonstrate how he would
"punish" her for rule breaking, which he does. For
Ana though, this is a step too far, she is upset and
tells him she has fallen in love with him, but she
knows that she can’t be what he wants her to be.
Available from May 1st on iTunes.
Fifty Shades of GreyBased on the first of a trilogy of novels by author
E. L. James, Fifty Shades of Grey was released earlier
this year to mixed reviews, however despite this it
was an immediate box office hit breaking numerous
records.
The hit film stars Dakota Johnson as 21-year-old
Anastasia (Ana) Steele, a literature student whose
whole world changes when she meets the young, yet
troubled business magnate, Christian Grey (Jamie
Dorman).
The story begins when Ana’s roommate, Kate,
becomes ill and is unable to interview the 27-year-old
entrepreneur for their college newspaper at his com-
pany headquarters in Seattle, so Ana agrees to go in
her place and right from the start the chemistry is pal-
pable between the two.
The next day, he turns up unexpectedly, and the
two meet for coffee where they talk about their fami-
lies and their lives – however when Ana asks if he has
a girlfriend, he replies, “I don’t do the girlfriend
thing,” and Ana is left confused.
On the day of her graduation, Ana celebrates with
friends, and, after drinking too much, spontaneously
calls Christian. Concerned, he goes to the bar to find
Ana, who passes out. She wakes up the next morning
in Christian's hotel room and is relieved to find out
that “nothing happened.” However, they kiss pas-
sionately before they leave the hotel and Christian
takes her home.
Later, Christian takes Ana on his private helicop-
ter to his condo in the Escala Building of Seattle and

We May Not Miss the Water But They Do
I have heard a few people complain about the
searing heat recently and a few days ago while wash-
ing my jeep I noticed a small bevy of bees that had
gathered around the tap that has a slight drip, trying
to suck up whatever moisture they could. I began
noticing them more frequently around every bit of
water and damp ground in the next few days, and
only then did it hit home to me just how dry condi-
tions have been in the BVI for the past few weeks.
It would be very difficult for anyone to have over-
looked the lack of rainfall and intensely hot condi-
tions that we’ve been experiencing recently. This is
nothing new, of course, but yet whenever this time of
year comes around, we can’t help but notice. It’s not
so much the temperatures, which are not unusually
high, but more the lack of wind that make things so
uncomfortable for most of us.
But before we start complaining too much about
the heat and lack of rainfall, spare a thought for the
not so fortunate creatures – both great and small.
While many of them may be able to seek out some
source of water; many others do not and may even
die of thirst or lose their lives trying to find water. I
have two dogs and recently their water bowls are
completely empty by the time I get home which is
unusual, So I’ve started leaving bigger bowls filled
with water in hopes it helps to combat the stifling
heat.
Water is one of the most essential elements for
life, and while we take it for granted given our fairly
efficient water supply system and the abundance of
beautiful, turquoise seawater around us, finding
potable water can be extremely difficult for many ani-
mals in such times. So as we go about our daily lives
we should pause for a moment and think about the
creatures, many of which are very important to us.

Q: Why has the hair of the actress who plays
Caroline changed on “2 Broke Girls” this season? —
Molly Gladstone, Ormond Beach, Fla.
A: It was a decision to have actress Beth Behrs
stop wearing the hair extensions that were among her
character‘s trademarks on the first three seasons of
the CBS sitcom. The Season 4 premiere even made
the new on-air “do” a plot point, when Caroline’s hair
got caught at home. Max (Kat

gency cut, which Caroline then had to
get “adjusted” at a professional salon.

A: A very notable example is
“Beyond the Sea,” a 2004 biography of singer Bobby
Darin that Spacey also directed and co-wrote. Rather
than use the original recordings, Spacey performed
the tunes himself ... including such Darin standards as
the film’s title song plus Dream Lover, Splish Splash
and Mack the Knife.
In conjunction with the movie’s release, he
launched a multiple-city tour to perform live Darin
shows. Several years before that, Spacey performed
“Mind Games” in a John Lennon tribute concert. He
also starred in a New York concert last fall to benefit
the foundation named for him, which gives perform-

Q: Could you please print an address that would
allow me to send a sympathy card to Melissa Rivers? I

Q: Didn’t Melanie Griffith have a
comedy series a few years back? —
John Parrish, Glen Burnie, Md.
A: She was among the stars of the
2005-06 WB Network comedy Twins
(one of the last shows that network
debuted before merging with UPN to
become The CW), in which she played
the mother of two very dissimilar sis-
ters (Sara Gilbert, Molly Stanton). That
show lasted only one season, but it had a longer run
than her next try in 2007 — CBS’ musically inclined,
Hugh Jackman-produced Viva Laughlin, which lasted
exactly two episodes.
Much earlier in her career, Griffith turned up as a
guest on such series as Starsky and Hutch, Vegas and
The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. As she was
cementing her movie career in the 1980s, she also
appeared on a revival of Alfred Hitchcock Presents
and in an episode of Miami Vice at a time when she
was between her two marriages to the police drama’s
star, Don Johnson.

The objective is to fill the full 9x9 grid with digits
so that each column, each row, and each of the
nine 3x3 “sub-grids” that compose the main grid
contains all of the digits from 1 to 9 – with no
