They TALK to Him through prayer.

They HEAR from Him through the Bible.

    - Reading Gods Word

    Reading it(get a good, easy-to-read translation)

Listening to it (YouVersion app, Biblegateway.com/audio)

    - Studying Gods Word

Asking: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?

    Recommended Tools:

A Good Study Bible (Ryrie, NIV Study Bible, etc)

A Good Commentary (Bible Knowledge Commentary, biblestudytools.com)

A Good Concordance (Strongs Exhaustive Concordance,

    - Remember the Triangle of Truth when it comes to the Bible

    1. Devotional: Reading the Bible to understand and apply it. This is the most

basic level of enjoying Gods Word and should be the basis for all of our

reading and studying of the Bible. (Dont ask what the passage means to

you, ask what it means foryou.)

    2. Exegetical: The word exegete means to draw out the meaning of a

certain passage of Scripture. This is when you lean hard into Bible study

tools and the Who? What? When? Where? Why? questions to understand

a passage in its context to draw out the timeless truth from it and apply it to

    your life.

    3. Theological: This third level of engaging with Scripture is the most technical.

It is taking the truths youve learned about one of the following areas in your

study of the Bible and placing it in one of the following categories:

    Theological

    Exegetical

    Devotional

Bibliology (Gods Word) Theology Proper (God)

    Christology (Jesus) Pneumatology (The Spirit)

    Soteriology (salvation) Ecclesiology (church)

    Angelology (angels) Eschatology (future)

TableActivity-Look at one of the following passages:1) What does it mean for you?

    2) Answer Exegetical questions.3) Place it in a Theological category.

    Easy:

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all

your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments

that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Deuteronomy 6:4-6

    Intermediate:

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished

by God, stricken by him, and aficted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he

was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and

by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has

turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

    Isaiah 53:4-6

    Difcult:

Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne with all the

multitudes of heaven standing on his right and on his left. And the Lord said, Who will

entice Ahab king of Israel into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?

One suggested this, and another that. Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before

the Lord and said, I will entice him. By what means? the Lord asked. I will go and

be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets, he said. You will succeed in

enticing him, said the Lord. Go and do it. So now the Lord has put a deceiving

spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours. The Lord has decreed disaster for

    you. 2 Chronicles 18:18-22

Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away,

calling it the tent of meeting. Anyone inquiring of the LORD would go to the tent of

meeting outside the camp. And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose

and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. As

Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance,

while the LORD spoke with Moses. Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing

at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to their

tent. The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then

Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the

    tent. Exodus 33:7-11

Like Joshua, refuse to leave the tenthow?

Meditate on GODS WORD through memorizing verses.

    119:11

It enables us to defeat Satan and his lies.

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of

    God. Ephesians 6:17

Alpha X Leadersyieldto the presence of Jesusuntil they are conformed to His image. We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from

seeing the end of what was passing away. But their minds were made dull, for to this day

the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because

only in Christ is it taken away. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their

hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the

Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled

faces contemplate the Lords glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:13-18

Our transformation is INTERNAL, not external.

Our transformation is PERMANENT, not fading.

Our time in Gods presence can be UNLIMITED, not limited.

    Inspire Others!

Question: How do you inspire others to live THE Cause?

Answer: You get them there through real stories!

Inspire others to live THE Cause throughreal

    storiesand

    raw truth!

    Why do REAL STORIES inspire?

    - Because that is the way God has wired us.

Jesus told them a story. Luke 18:1

    - Because we see ourselves in them.

To some who were condent of their own righteousness and looked down on

everyone else, Jesus told this parable: Two men went up to the temple to pray,

one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and

prayed: God, I thank you that I am not like other peoplerobbers, evildoers,

adulterersor even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of

all I get. But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to

heaven, but beat his breast and said, God, have mercy on me, a sinner. I tell

you that this man, rather than the other, went home justied before God. For all

those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselveswill be exalted. Luke 18:9-14

    - Because it shows that the impossible is possible.

And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak,

Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through

    faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised;

who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the ames, and escaped the

edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who becamepowerful in battle and routed foreign armies. Women received back their dead,

raised to life again. Hebrews 11:32-35

How do you tell a story that GETS THEM THERE?

    - Paint a 3-D Picture (sight, smell, etc).

    - Make sure they feel the tension.

    Oil and Fire

OilYou have been anointed by God toaccomplish something significant.

The word of the LORD came to me, saying, Before I formed you in the womb I knew

you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

Alas, Sovereign LORD, I said, I do not know how to speak; I am too young. But the

LORD said to me, Do not say, I am too young. You must go to everyone I send you toand say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will

rescue you, declares the LORD. Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my

mouth and said to me, I have put my words in your mouth. Jeremiah 1:4-9

    What is this ANOINTING?

    - It is the calling God has for you.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you

apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:4

    I appointed you as a ___________________________________.
