I rece ived a nasty shock theother day when checking my racing programme. Did you realisethat the sailing season Is 1/3 overvAnd still my boat is not going theway it should. Our first race inthe lub championship series isonly a week or so away and theN.T. Regatta the middle of nextrnon tho so If you have been likeme and thought tnat, there is stillplenty of time for tuning beforethese big events wake up. the endis near.

Not only do boats need polishinga nd tuning skippers would be welladvised to check on their rulesand tactics. Recently when on thecommittee boat I saw severalbreaches of the rules that happened because the sk ippers did notknow who had right of way. Itonly takes one or two skippers ineach class who know the rules andare not afraid to protest tostraighten out much of this slackness, making sailing safer andmore enjoyable for all. To assist inthis, we propose to hold a series

Plans are well in hand for Darwin 's first ever Sa iling Rega tta tobe held over 2 weekends and Ihope all sailing members will par ticipate and give the Race Com mittee their full support. I amsure you will agree the Bay looksa wonderful sight on Sun dayswith over 80 boa ts on the wa terwith a shore start which everyonecould watch. I hope the seabreezesstay with us apart from providingenjoyable sailing, it certainly provldes a better spectacle for thosevatch ing on the beach .

Mrs. Ch ilman and I will be awayin J apan from J une 13th to the29th and we will miss the activities of the Sailing Club.

The ladies auxil iary have beendoing an extremely good job andhave alreadv raised over $700 to ward safety equipment for theClub. We look forward to seeing youall again on our return.

Dear Fellow Members.

I am sure you are all as pleasedas I am to see the rapid rate atwhich our ne w buildings are rls ing.

The building Committee andKim Nicholls as the Club 's Building Agent are doing a magnificientjob and we are still anticipating itbeing finished approximately theend of July.

Those of vou who have taken thein terest to ' walk over and inspectthe new Junior Clubhouse withthe shower and changeroom facilities which are taking shape at theback will surely agree that thiswill add considerably to the attraction of the Club. Now that thene w area for the main clubhouseis taking shape, you can see wewill have a verv nice area indeedunder cover and a Clubhouse to beproud of.

Unfortunately, our grassed areahas suffered considerably whilstbuilding work Is being carried out,but this is unavoidable and weplan to completely re-grass thearea on completion of the buildingproject so that we can continue toenjoy the wonderful outdoor se t ting which the Club can offer.

The attendance of Club Members at the various tuncions whichhave been organised has been veryheartening indeed and has been abig encouragement to the Committees who work so hard to pro'id e these functions.

The Club's repu ta tion as a placefor family enjoyment is spreadingfar and wide and many peoplecomment to me about it.

Your Comm it tee is very pleasedindeed to see the ever increasingnumbers of members who aremaking their club a stopping offplace on the way home from work.particularly on week nights. Thereis no better place in Da rwin to

JUNIOR N EWS

The junior clubhouse, I ampleased to say has been kept in amuch tidier condition lately. Thecleaning roster obviously has hadsome effect.. Keep up the goodwork . The picnic held at Mandorah, by all accounts proved tohave been a great success. I thinkjuniors stomach's haven't anymemory, or they have hollow legs ,because about 25 loaves of slicedbread vanished in the matter ofa quarter of an hour.

We are very grateful to a ll th eseniors who aided us with transport and general organisation inthis activity, it was greatly appreciated.

As you can all see the newjun ior clubhouse is really on it's

way . when completed, there willbe a grand opening night social, more will be said about this at alater date so keep your eyes andears open.

Mrs. J arvis kin dly donated a S10open or der at K aren Lee, thisbooste d our fin ances by a bout $50.Than k you once a ga in Mrs J arvis.
